We brought the car in with a flat tire. They ran an inspection and told us that we urgently needed $2400 worth of work. We had the work done, including new steering, but when we got the car back it was worse than before. They told us we now needed a new steering pump. We insisted they fix it at no charge, they said they would--but they did absolutely nothing. The car is currently not drivable--this is after bring the car in with a flat tire. Last month I needed to do my Rhode Island State inspection and made an appointment at this Midas. I've never been here before. I dropped my car off and walked over to Starbucks for a coffee. They said it would take an hour. A few minutes later, I got a call from them said my breaks needed to be done. I asked if I didn't do them would I still pass inspection. The answer was yes. Yesterday brought my card to the dealer as I have an oil maintenance plan with them. Of course, they also inspect every part of my car, including the brakes and tires. Everything was fine. They didn't suggest any additional maintenance. Sorry, but I do not trust this Midas. read more

Excellent customer service ! We had a flat on a recent Saturday morning and really needed to get it fixed before work on Monday. I called all the tire shops near me and they all told me they were too busy to help. Not so when I called the good folks at Midas in South Kingston. They said "sure, come on down and we'll fit you in". When we got there we saw that they were busy too, but they were very nice and after only a short wait, my tire was fixed and we were on our way. Do not go here for your state vehicle inspection. Total scam. Basically brand new car with 20,000 miles on it, said I need new brakes. For only $750. Had already paid for the inspection so the guy said when I get the brakes done swing in and it will take 2 seconds to check them out. Went back after getting new brakes( guy who replaced said they were probably good for another 2 years at least 1 but had to replace them because they failed me) the Midas guy said he could make an appointment for me for next week. I reminded him that he told me about the 2 second swing by he said he would never say that. Total liar. Brutal. I will never go there again. If I could put negative stars I would. read more

Don't go here for an inspection! Went for an inspection sticker- was told that they would fail my car if I did not make $800 in repairs. I had just had my car serviced at my regular mechanic and so I declined the service. They did not fail my car- just said no problem. SUPER DISHONEST!!! SUPER DISHONEST repair shop!! STAY AWAY. My daughter's car broke down a few weeks ago. She attends the University of Rhode Island and we trusted that this repair shop was treating her honestly. The first repair seemed extremely expensive; however, the mechanic assured me that this was a very reasonable and competitive price. He seemed nice and honest so we went with it. She hit a pothole recently and broke a strut so we brought it back to him. He informed us that we should replace both struts and that it would be $1700. This prompted me not only to look at this repair, but the last repair that he did for us. I asked around some of the other parents, whose children have vehicles at the University, and they referred us to a different mechanic. We had the struts repaired for $485 total. NOT $1700!! We also looked into the last repair, and we were told that we paid almost double. STAY AWAY from these people. I don't think the quality of their work was bad, but they are extraordinarily dishonest when it comes to the pricing. I can't tell you how disappointed we were to find out that our hard earned money was taken from us so dishonestly. We are honest and hard-working people, and rarely complain, but I felt compelled to want to warn others. read more

GREASSSSYY. Came here for a state inspection sticker. Waited 3 weeks for the appointment, dropped my vehicle off around 9 and was told it would be ready for pickup around noon. I hadn't heard anything by 12:30 so I called them. They said I that they would fail me unless I paid $1,400 (+ unknown labor costs) to replace all brakes and rotors and I wouldn't have my vehicle back until 5pm. I told them that I didn't agree to their prices and I would take it somewhere else. When I arrived to pick it up, the front desk guy repeatedly swore at me for not agreeing to their demands (they hadn't even moved it from the spot I parked). I took it to Pat's Auto in Westerly (which I highly recommend) and they said everything looked good, zero issues. read more

Darlene and Rich have earned my trust! They are HONEST (which is very difficult to find), upfront, reasonable, transparent, and friendly. They have kept my car in great shape and with NO BS AND CONSTANT UP-CHARGING like most other garages (all other garages). They have earned my loyalty and I find that I bring my car in for tune ups more often, and I hesitate less to attend to other issues because I trust them. I want to be clear that I have been to other Midas's and have never had as great an experience as I do specifically with Darlene and Rich. Had major concerns after my daughter was told that she needed brakes just 1 year after getting them done. Had a second opinion and they confirmed the brakes where only 25% used. After putting up a negative review on Yelp, a new manager called and apologized and refunded my money for the second opinion. He said he took over the store recently and was making some staff changes to ensure this did not happen again. While I would still be careful, I think that the new manager Simon has good intention and seems honest. read more

Brought my car for an oil change and immediately after drive to MA. When I got to MA my car was smoking, so i brought it to my mechanic. He told me the oil cap was left on the engine and could have ended really poorly. When I called Midas to explain and ask for my money back the front desk associate immediately became defensive. He told me to bring it back (which I couldn't do) so he could see for himself. In addition he started shit talking my mechanic (WHO HAPPENS TO BE MY UNCLE) and saying that my mechanic in MA was being dramatic and just trying to make Midas look bad, etc. I eventually got my refund, but I was less than thrilled with how they handled the situation. read more

Ok Yelp why can't you give zero stars or even negative. Because if there was ever a place that deserves it this is the one. My daughter has an old beater car that she uses in Boston. She came home and said the brakes and the tires might need to be looked at. She took it to Midas and we got the $1,000 quote back. They said she needed a complete brake job and two new rear tires. What's funny the tires she questioned were the front. Needless to say we took it to D&M tire on West Main Road and they squared us away for $125. read more

Recently, we brought our Audi to Midas in Wakefield, RI. to have the tires re-balanced. We were told from a technician and manager in charge, two of our tires needed to be replaced because the belts were showing. They were willing to install two new tires and suggested not to drive our Audi due to the dangerous conditions of the tires. Fortunately for us, I inspected the tires and rims the day before and meticulously cleaned and polished the rims and tires. I told them the tires in question were actually brand new and all we wanted was a balance performed. The manager said they didn't want the liability. I called them out on their lie and strongly advise not to have your vehicle serviced here. You can not trust them. read more

I made an appointment for an oil change for last Saturday. My reservation was honored, and I was in and out of Midas in Wakefield within forty minutes. Darlene, the assistant office manager at this location of Midas, is very cordial. Bruce did the oil change and, as always, he checked the whole vehicle. I feel safe during my weekly commute from New York to Rhode Island and back to New York because I know that those folks at Midas know what they're doing. read more

I have an older Dodge Dakota with some corrosion issues. I brought the truck into Midas for an exhaust leak (both front and back). They inspected the vehicle, documented the issues - both in writing and with photos, provided an estimate of work, and talked me through their recommendations. The estimate was more than fair for the scope of work - and the service was completed professionally and timely. They even pointed out some unrelated issues that need to be addressed in the future - work they don't even perform. Their extra effort was much appreciated. Would definitely recommend the Midas team in Wakefield for auto service. When service needed again (hopefully not too soon), I'll be coming back to Midas. read more

I have been going to Midas for over ten years and they were always great! However, yesterday I went to have two tires replaced and an alignment and left missing a hub cap. After I picked up my car, I drove across the street to CVS which is where I noticed. I call them back and they tell me they don't have it and there is nothing they can do. The man that answered the phone was extremely rude. I will say the man that helped me with my tires was very nice and helpful! The entire staff are always very honest and very friendly and knowledgeable. Update ...one week later my reservoir is still full as is my radiator. As far as Matt the Midas managers comment about it including a "visual check of fluid levels" my radiator reservoir is right across from my windshield reservoir with the oil input being in the middle of both. SO seeing as my radiator reservoir was bone dry after my oil change tells me you didn't "visually inspect" it. I filled the reservoir and it hasn't leaked since the episode at Midas so my reservoir isn't cracked. The "tech" I initially talked to said they don't fill the reservoir just the radiator, now you say the radiator is too hot and to open it could cause injury. Which is it, I'm getting 2 conflicting stories .... Also my radiator cap in this cold weather would have been more than cool enough to open after doing the oil change. So as you are aware I filed a BBB complaint requesting a refund and you cordially complied. It was an oversight on your companies end which could have cost me a new engine. Did I mention my reservoir and radiator haven't leaked since I put fluid in it just a week after it being at Midas? Yeah...wait should I also add that I had an old beat up pick up truck rear wheel drive that was worth about as much as a bag of sand and I brought that truck for an oil change and was quoted $1600 for repairs!!!!! I looked at the kid and was like seriously... You know I couldn't even get 1/3 of that to sell it...he just put his head down and took my money for the oil change. Oh hey... Did I mention my radiator and reservoir haven't leaked since I filled it!!!! read more

When you make an appointment 3 days in advance for an oil change, tire rotation and inspection for 9am and ask to have it returned by no later than 1pm, then you drop the car off the night before just because it's easier, you don't expect the call at 1:15 that they JUST FOUND that you need brakes and tires to pass inspection. I know it's not their fault I needed brakes and tires, but they should have notified me in time to get my car back by 1pm as requested, after all they opened at 7:30am! Only had the brakes done (tires far too expensive there) and was finally able to pick up the car at 4:30pm. The very nice man behind the counter was apologetic when I voiced this concern, but it was the 'not my fault' response. Won't be going back... read more
