Since I was soon leaving on a road trip, I asked them to also check my tires, brakes, alignment, etc. They thoroughly checked everything, basically gave my car a health checkup, and it passed the physical exam with flying colors. I was only charged for the transmission fluid replacement - they topped off my AC coolant for free. They even provided complimentary Lyft service. It's true!!! There really is an auto maintenance and repair shop that is HONEST, that cares about you, and that does great work for a fair price. This is what excellent customer service looks like!!!

I wasn't shown an itemized breakdown of the cost (labor vs parts), but I agreed to the overall price. When the work was done I was given a printed receipt with itemized costs. The labor was $396, and the parts cost for six Motorcraft iridium spark plugs was $345. I challenged the cost of the plugs and was handed off to a manager (Eric). He immediately said "you agreed to the price for the service", at which point I told him I was never provided a breakdown of the costs before agreeing. I explained that the price of the Motorcraft plugs was $22 each on ford.com ($132 total), so how could they be charging $345 for them in good faith? He had no explanation, and continued to say "you agreed to the price". To charge almost triple the cost for a basic part like spark plugs is classic price gouging. Beware if you use this shop that they will likely try the same tactic. This was my first time at Christian Brothers, and will certainly be my last. Black Forest Auto runs a much fairer business, and I cannot recommend them enough. I only used Christian Brothers because Black Forest's schedule was backed up (an indication of their high quality and reputation).

I also really appreciated the tasty cookie they gave me when I picked up my car. From a purely customer-service standpoint, they do a great job. However, I have to give 2 stars because of their pricing and lack of transparency. I brought my vehicle in and received an estimate for a throttle body replacement. They quoted me $1,044.45 just for the part (labor was an additional $408.66). What really bothered me, in addition to the extreme markup, was the lack of information. The quote didn't specify the brand of the part being used, nor did it state whether it was brand new or a reconditioned unit. As you can see in the photos I've attached, I looked up the parts myself. I can easily purchase a brand new, OEM-quality throttle body for around $150. I understand that mechanics need to mark up parts to make a profit and cover their warranties, but a markup of this magnitude is excessive, especially without being completely transparent about what exactly the customer is paying for. Great customer service and a clean waiting room are wonderful, but they don't justify this level of markup on parts. I highly recommend doing your own research on part prices and getting a second opinion before approving any major repairs here.

Ed spent close to an hour reviewing my vehicle history and I appreciated it--he really "geeked out"…read moreon the details in a good way. He comes across as one of the last real mechanics--knowledgeable, thorough, and someone I would have trusted to work on my vehicle. His daughter later called to schedule. She said she was a mechanic. I mentioned Ed had spent a long time with me (as a compliment) and asked a follow-up question about how they'd clear out the engine, noting I had a budget. She said she didn't have enough information, which is fine, but the tone felt closed off. I said, "It doesn't seem like you want to engage in the conversation, and that's okay." She called that rude, I repeated it, and she hung up. I went in person to clear things up because I respected Ed's time. Instead, I was told I had insulted his knowledge--which is completely untrue--and was asked to leave, even after apologizing if anything came across wrong. I respect that Ed let her handle it, but the situation was misrepresented and handled poorly. Unfortunate, because my impression of him was very positive. I did walk away with enough information to pursue next steps, and Elite Auto appears equally equipped, so the time wasn't a complete loss. Based on my experience, I'd keep interactions with her limited to scheduling and work directly with Ed for anything beyond that.

I only needed an oil change and they are a little higher than other places and they don't offer a military discount for retirees. They picked up my car and I didn't get it back for 6 hours. I wish I knew ahead of time that they would have my car all day for a simple oil change. Their website mentions that they provide "white glove service" and they will wipe everything down before delivering the car back to me. That sounds fine, but the person bringing back my car had no gloves on, so I had to wipe down the car myself. Their website also mentions a 25% discount for ANY service or repair, but they told me over the phone that this does not include an oil change. False advertising in my opinion. Since they do a courtesy inspection I thought they would check the tire pressure, but checking it myself later, they were all 3 pounds underweight. The courtesy inspection sheet they email you is nice and they showed pictures of my tires, but they couldn't check the air pressure? I will probably return to the shop that I have used in the past, which gives a $10 discount for military and free tire rotation and pressure check.

I am writing to share my experience with Aspen Auto Clinic on Tutt…read more I brought my car in because the check-engine light was on. I was told that the only issue identified at that time was the spark plugs. I was not told of any catalytic-converter issue or any other diagnostic code. I authorized a diagnostic only. After several hours, I was told they had tried to remove a spark plug and, in the process, broke a major part of my engine. No one asked for my permission before trying to remove the spark plug. I was then told that my engine needed to be replaced. My car was kept for approximately two and a half months while the engine was replaced. During that time, the shop provided me with a rental vehicle. However, I was repeatedly told how much the rental was costing them and that they needed to get me out of it because it was costing them too much money. Instead of feeling supported while my car was in their care, I felt pressured, rushed, and guilty for needing transportation. When I finally got my car back, the check-engine light was still on before I even left the parking lot. I immediately went back inside and reported it. I was told I would need to pay approximately $200 for them to look at my car again. When I asked whether the replacement engine had a warranty, I was told, "You got your engine for free, so you don't get a warranty." I was not offered follow-up support, goodwill service, a complimentary inspection, maintenance, or other assistance after my car had been kept for so long. Within about two weeks of getting my car back, I began noticing serious problems. I could visibly see multiple bolts near the front of my engine coming out, and my car struggled to drive uphill, only going around 35 mph. I took it to another mechanic, who told me that wrong-size bolts had been used and said he would not repair my vehicle until the original shop corrected its own work. Throughout the original repair, the approximately two-and-a-half-month wait, the conversations about the rental, and my first return visit because the check-engine light was still on, I dealt only with male employees. No one connected me with a manager, and no manager spoke with me. I returned to the shop because I could see bolts coming out near the front of my engine and because my car was struggling to drive uphill. I came back into the office and spoke with a new male employee at the front desk. Only after that conversation was I connected with a manager. This was the first time a manager had spoken with me directly and the first time I received an apology. The female manager apologized and told me that I did have a warranty. However, I was never given anything in writing explaining what the warranty covered or how long it lasted. The shop kept my car again after I returned because I could see loose bolts near the front of my engine and my car was struggling to drive uphill. I was told that the loose bolts had caused a hose to come loose, affecting how my car ran and causing it to struggle uphill. The shop tightened the bolts, reconnected the hose, and ran another diagnostic. At that time, the shop told me that the catalytic converter was going out. The catalytic-converter problem did not appear until after Aspen Auto Clinic replaced my engine, and it remains unresolved. Separately, after I picked up my car, another mechanic found that one bolt was still loose. I also began hearing a ticking sound while reversing, which was not an issue I had before bringing my car to the shop. I brought my car in with one problem: a check-engine light. My experience resulted in an engine replacement, approximately two and a half months without my car, continued mechanical concerns after it was returned, unclear warranty information, and no meaningful support until I returned with serious concerns. I did not feel heard or taken seriously when I raised concerns about my car, the warranty, or the work performed. Based on my personal experience, I would not trust this shop with major vehicle repairs.

I had a couple of choices. Tow it to a shop with profession mechanics or go with a moble machanic that could come to me and fix it right here. Wow! HUGE mistake for trusting this guy! He set up an appointment to be here at 1pm, he finally showed up at 6pm. I was very nice to him and asked if I could watch the fix and maybe learn something. I learned one thing as he continually disappeared to his truck to be on the phone and smoke cigarettes. I assume he was watching a U tube video on how to do the job. It was clear he had no idea what he was doing. Eventually he got so frustrated with the fix he showed his true colors. He got angry and offensive. After hours we started up the car, he used his truck to jump start the car? Why would a real machinic not have a portable tool to do that? Car started and he drove away leaving the bill. Well, a couple minutes later the car died. Called him back to access what was up because he wanted $700 hundred dollar and I am in the dark at 10 o'clock with a car that still had issues. When he arrived eventually, he was on his motorcycle with only a few tools. He tested the battery and said that was the problem. The situation got heated as I asked why would you not just simply start with the testing the battery as a first step and why not read any error codes first off as well? I obviously had plenty of time earlier to get a new one. He said that he was just hired to juar replace the part??? Awful person and extremely incompetent as a so called professional. For the love of everything that is holly, please don't even consider entering a agreement with him!!!!
