This was such a fun parade. The parade is still a youngen (only 2 years-old), but man it had spunk! Dancers, circus performers, marching bands and plenty of creative floats. It started on North Blvd & 22nd Street (mid-city) and ended at Baton Rouge Community College on a lovely Sunday afternoon. I love seeing how Baton Rouge is quickly rising to be a Mardi Gras season parade destination. This year, the parade went hippie and the theme was "Peace, Love & Nuts". There were lines and crowds of spectators ready to lift their hands up in the air to catch some throws. Beads were flying and cheers were rolling. This was very much a family-friendly parade, so when it rolls around next year, bring your kiddos. In fact, bring the whole family. After all the rain we had in the previous days to the parade, the day ended up being bright and beautiful. I'm looking forward to taking part in this next year. Be sure to add this to your list of Mardi Gras parades. read more
