The Michigan Road Branch fills a big hole that has existed in this area, because there isn't another public library anywhere for miles and miles. So now there is a library in the area! And what a library it is.
One of the things you'll notice when you walk into the library is the abundance of natural light. There are tall windows everywhere that let in the sun, and allow you to look outside and see the trees and other greenery. I learned that this library has blinds that open and close by themselves, depending on the amount of light that's coming into the building. Neat! Also, many of the wood features around the library are built from trees harvested at a local farm. Now you know more about the architecture of this little library than you probably wanted to know.
The children's area of the library is really cute and invites kids to climb and explore. There is an entrance just for kids that allows them to crawl through a tunnel to enter the kid's area. There is also lots of soft, fun seating everywhere. I say "fun" because it really is: there is a big area with a miniature stadium-like seating that I imagine kids would love to climb on, and many different chairs with different shapes. You'll also find a small bank of four computers for kids, as well as a lot of children's movies and, of course, lots of books.
There is a huge conference room that is available to the public, which looks like a good place to have a meeting or do some co-working. There are also lots of tables with comfy chairs all around the library, which look perfect for studying. Overall, this library is a much-needed asset to the community! read more
