Excited to try the new beer battered tacos order to go and it was GRILLED no batter! Payed $6.00 for chips and salsa and got the smallest batch of chips I couldn't believe it. The chips are good salsa is to watered. The Tacos are good and priced well to today standards. I just wish when you order to go they don't bag it all up for you, they should bag it only after the food has been inspected by the customer because there always messing up to go orders. I've been following Michi tacos on instagram for YEARS. I so happen to be in the area on a random Wednesday and stopped by right when they opened. I ordered 2 queso birria tacos with all the fixings, consommé, & cucumber/lemon agua fresca. Meat: girllll flavorful, she was juicy, she was seasoned, she was moist. She was PACKED. Taco shell itself: this may just be personal preference but I do wish it was crispier cause it started to fall apart half way through eating it. I also loved that it wasn't caked with too much cheese. Consommé: so much bawdyyyyy to it, not oily! Again, seasoned perfectly. I've tried some other consommés where it just taste like they salted the shit out of it before they serve it- To each their own. But this one was perfect. I actually ordered more to go and I may have sipped on her on my drive home. Salsas: the amazing waitress brought me 3 types of salsas. Let's just say I had them in rotation during my meal. Cucumber/lime agua Fresca: no notes. She was refreshing. Chips:Why review chips?? It's like having bread at a restaurant it really sets the tone. The tone was set, honey. The chips were seasoned perfectly. Not just with salt like most restaurants do but with something else. I couldn't put my finger on it- they most likely make it in house. It's so good. Me and my father decided to try this taco place after seeing it every time we walked down main street. So we went in and we both immediately loved the atmosphere from the dim, cozy lighting, to the nicely painted walls and cherry tree fixtures. The cashier/hostess at the front noticed we couldn't decide which tasty option to get, and recommended us their most popular birria and consome tacos. We sat down after ordering and our food arrived only 6 minutes after we ordered it! The tacos were the most delicious birria tacos we had ever eaten. It's a bit messy, but it's well worth it. I really wanted to enjoy my visit here, especially since I came with my family, but unfortunately the overall experience was disappointing. The tables were extremely sticky and wobbly, which made it uncomfortable to sit and eat. The place in general looks very "descuidado" -- like it hasn't been properly maintained or cared for in a while. On top of that, there was a lot of smoke inside during the afternoon, which made it really hard for me to breathe since I have asthma. The food itself was honestly amazing, and I will give credit where it's due -- it's always good, even though it takes quite a long time to come out. But the environment and service don't match the quality of the food. The employees all seemed really stressed and were constantly running around, which made it feel like things aren't being managed well. If you want to try Michis come to this location and not Menifee. Menifee's service is terrible. We usually come here for their quesabirria tacos, they are loaded with beef and are crunch unlike other places that serve soggy tacos. They are flavorful and so is the consomé. Their Al pastor is also very good. You have to try their torta Al pastor with frijoles con chorizo, it's sooo good!! Their aguas frescas are overpriced but they are good. This place lost the hype it once had. We got here one hour before they closed. Was totally ignored, heard multiple complaints from other customers who had there orders wrong. All the employee's just hanging out in the back. Took 20 minutes to pour our beers with a tajin rim. Over priced, bad service, dirty venue, it checks all the bad boxes for real. Tip to owner, fire everyone, and rehire and revamp your restaurant. If you have family working for you try and invest in some training for your staff. read more

The quesabirria tacos are fried so they're crunchy, but please keep in mind that a quesabirria is pretty much a mulita turned into a taco shell, stuffed w birria goodness on the inside, so this will make you extremely full!! The 3 quesabirria y consome + the chips and salsa were very filling for 2 people!! We left the restaurant stuffed!! The inside feels intimate since it's very dark inside (the kind of lighting vampires who are on a date would appreciate lol)... maybe a little more lighting would suffice? We went after the muddy dash which made the wait long. There's no waitlist or seating plan which sucked cause you just have to swoop in on a table as soon as someone leaves. I wish there was more of a waitlist process so we aren't hovering over those who are trying to enjoy their meals. Cashier was super friendly and accommodating. She apologized for the wait and gave us a discount for waiting around. One server had no idea how to use table numbers. She kept coming to our table with food asking if it was ours or if we received all our food. Another server had high anxiety and was all over the place. Seems like she was trying to do everything herself. She came off a little rude but I think the rush of people may have gotten to her. It didn't help that the other girl didn't know how to run food. This was my first time here. I ordered 2 Michi Tacos. One chicken and one Birria. The tacos were $5 each. They gave me free chips and salsa which were amazing. The chips were perfectly crispy and salty and the salsa was really good and not spicy. The tacos were regular size on a soft corn tortilla which never split open while I was eating them. The tacos were loaded with chopped onions and cilantro, grilled onions, cheese, beans and a thin guacamole type sauce. There was so much on them I had to eat some first with a fork. The restaurant was small and you order at the front counter first then sit down. There were restrooms in the back also. The women that worked there were nice. They would come check on us too. We used to love this place, and recommended it to everyone we know! Bomb birria and almost never had an issue with the food. 2 stars because EVERY single time we came from the beginning, one of our orders was forgotten about or totally wrong. First few times we let it slide because the restaurant was kinda new, but they are still so unorganized. The restaurant only had one other table of customers yesterday. Our whole table got food after 25 minutes and the girl asked if we needed anything else... I told her I was still waiting for a to go order. She never came back. 3 or 4 people that ordered after us received their orders. So I waited another 10 minutes then got up to ask another server, and she went to go check. Said it'd be another 5 minutes. It finally was ready and a guy handed me the bag... no apologies for the delay or anything. Finally got food after 40 minutes and the rest of our party was already done eating. Pretty disappointed in the service or lack thereof, so that will probably be the last time we go there. read more

Wanted to try this place a few times before posting this review. Let me just say that tacos and quesobirria are absolutely delicious. This is the reason I come to Michis Tacos. Service is good, love the ambiance. I don't give it a 5 star because the wait is awful. One of my visits we waited about 30-45 min for 2 quesabirria and 2 tacos and they didn't look busy that day. I went back Friday night and waited 20-30 min for my order and again it was not that busy inside, there was a few empty tables. Other than that food is so tasty and the salsas are so good. Michi Tacos were to die for!! I got the Birria quesadilla and it was fantastic. The best birria I've had!! I got the consome to go with it, so it was more pricey ($18) but the quesadilla was HUGE. Parking was easy on the street and downtown lake Elsinore is so cute. Service was great and there was plenty of seating on a Saturday night. The inside is nice and it has a sports bar vibe. Michi Tacos is legit! We started with the Loaded Guac- and that was amazing! The carne in the loaded guac is so flavorful - and the guac is rich with sabor- and nice fresh chunks of avacado. It's presented well too with the chips and the traditional stone bowl. We had Tacos and pupusas - authentic Mexican AND Central American Latin flavors! The tacos were delicious and served nice and hot with three different kinds of salsas on request. After the loaded guac, two tacos was more than enough! We had Jamaica and Jarritos for drinks and those were great too. The ambience is lively, fun - and comfortable. The booths have padded seats and chairs. I've ordered from this place a few times-the delivery apps sometimes have great taco Tuesday deals-and I've never been disappointed. This particular order, I got their queso shrimp tacos-really good. Also a pupusa and their loaded fries. What I like about Michi's is that they have a distinct style and their dishes are unique to them. Take their loaded fries for example. Just about every Mexican restaurant has them, but Michi's loads theirs with all the usual toppings and bakes them. The dish is served under a sheet of melted cheese and the fries are just right. I didn't care for the pupusas, as I'm very picky with them. They weren't bad, I think it was either the type of cheese or that I'd prefer mine more melted.
