When I called, a veterinary technician (associate's degree, 20 years of experience - not a veterinarian) laughed at me for buying a glucose meter from Amazon. She said, "Oh, you're getting your stuff from an unreputable source instead of coming through us?" The meter I bought: Amazon's Choice, 4.6 stars with 2,500 reviews. This vet clinic has 4.5 stars. So their "reputable" meter is rated lower than the one I bought online. She still laughed. She also said, "Honestly, we didn't think he would live that long." That is why they didn't send me home with a meter - they assumed my cat would be dead. But they still charged me $700, gave him Cerenia (which suppresses appetite in a starving diabetic cat), and sent me home with a $63 sharps container and no way to monitor his blood sugar. When I told her I was getting information from AI that cited the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) guidelines on feline diabetes, she scoffed. She said, "I'm glad you're getting your info from ChatGPT, but I'm a veterinarian with an associates degree." I corrected her: "It's not ChatGPT, it's AAHA." She stopped laughing. She had no answer. AAHA guidelines clearly require home blood glucose monitoring and state that insulin should never be given without knowing the glucose level. They ignored all of it. This person is not a veterinarian. She is a vet tech with an associate's degree. Yet she was giving medical advice, laughing at established guidelines, and mocking my choice of a highly‑rated glucose meter. The entire phone call is recorded. I may not be able to use it in court, but I can post it anywhere I want - Facebook, YouTube, wherever. Their office is covered in signs warning clients not to yell at staff or be "abusive." No other vet I've been to has those signs plastered everywhere. There is a reason. My cat almost died because of their negligence. I saved him at home with a $30 glucose meter from Amazon and by ignoring most of their instructions. If you value your pet's life, go somewhere else. Anywhere else. And if you call them, remember - you may be talking to a tech with an associate's degree who laughs at AAHA guidelines.

She spends however much time is necessary with my girls. She sits on the floor with them and genuinely cares about them. I travel anywhere from 30-45 minutes for an appointment depending on which office we're going to. She has one in Canonsburg,PA and one in Washington, PA. I would drive Hours, without hesitation, if she was to relocate. Her offices are staffed with an equally kind, compassionate and knowledgeable group of technicians. I caught him in the act but not before he had two pounds. I called AKC Poison Hotline. They recommended get to emergency vet clinic ASAP. This was the closest to us. I called as I was driving there. The receptionist asked if we were aware of the fees. We were not. She told us the fees and payment upon arrival or before treatment finished. I was nervous and very worried. I felt they were slow but then I was on edge and my husband reminded that everything takes time. Yes, he was with me. Time moves slow when you are worried about your loved one, pet or human. They gave medicine to settle him down within 20 minutes of arriving. They took him to back to establish blood base line. Everything was explained. All tests printed out, explained and everything documented. We received a copy. Plus they faxed a copy to our vet. Our Corgi ate a lethal dose. The staff and vet we're very nice and matter of fact. He had tachycardia, high blood pressure and very high glucose. After initial treatments, we opted to finish treatment at home. We were advised that if he made it past 3 am would more than likely pull through. I was explained how to give treatments, how much, etc. We heard another pet owner come in with a very injured pet. It was intense, the owner was very agitated, shouted, and very rude. He was not treated unkindly just what had to be done. People need to understand the emotions they have in such a delicate matter. Also, that healthcare for your pet is not free. It cost us less than we thought it would but it cost big bucks. Our Corgi made it through the night. I am grateful and very glad that Animal Urgent Care was there for our beloved Stutz. We had no options locally.

We called ahead, were instructed to obtain a Poison Control case number, and then drove directly to the clinic. We arrived approximately an hour after the ingestion, but after checking in, we waited close to another hour before our dog was evaluated because the veterinarian was in surgery. Had we known there was only one veterinarian on duty and that emergency care would be delayed, we would have chosen to drive directly to a 24-hour emergency hospital instead. Once the veterinarian saw our dog and consulted Poison Control, the urgency of the situation understandably increased. However, the communication throughout this process felt rushed and, at times, confrontational. During an already frightening situation, discussions about the required deposit and projected costs seemed to take precedence over helping us understand our dog's condition and treatment plan. I completely understand that emergency veterinary care is expensive and that deposits are necessary, but I believe those conversations can be handled with greater compassion and empathy. To be fair, the clinic did induce vomiting, perform blood work, administer activated charcoal, stabilize our dog's elevated heart rate, and coordinate her transfer to BluePearl for overnight critical care. For those efforts, I am sincerely grateful. My disappointment is not with the medical treatment itself but with the communication and transparency. If we had been told at the outset that the veterinarian was unavailable because she was in surgery and that there could be a significant delay before our dog could be assessed, we could have made an informed decision about whether to seek care elsewhere sooner. Emergency situations are incredibly stressful for pet owners. A little more communication, empathy, and transparency would have made a difficult night much easier to navigate. Thankfully, our dog is recovering well, and we are incredibly grateful for that outcome.

I'm a bit of a high maintenance puppy mom as every hiccup leads me to look on the internet to find the worse case scenario, which leads me to calling them. They always return calls in a timely fashion and have never made me feel like I'm silly or wasting their time. My puppy, Boo, gets excited when I tell him we are going to the vet to see his friends. From the time we pull in the parking lot, Boo can't wait to get inside and see everyone. He especially loves Jon (John? I'm not sure... I'm sorry!). As soon as Boo hears his voice, he runs toward it, tail going a mile a minute. Jon is fantastic! On the floor, accepting sloppy puppy kisses, and telling Boo he's the "bestest boy" while giving Boo a good pet and rubdown. Their prices are fantastic, their knowledge is vast, and the rooms are always clean. We will never go anywhere else. Boo loves A Step Up and so do I!

They don't allow you to come in for tech appointments (which is the cause of all of their issues). My dog has only been seen for arthritis and has been put on a routine of adequan injections twice weekly for four weeks. On one occasion, this clinic had given my dog the wrong service (gave him routine lab work when he was due for his Adequan injection, a twice weekly series for several weeks in a row). The owner blamed me, saying that When scheduling the appointment, I chose the wrong option. There is no option for the service my dog receives, nor is there an option for "other", only a long list of services he wasn't getting. The last option on the list is "lab work - other", which I selected as it seemed like the closest option possible. Instead of checking with my fiancé upon arrival, who took him for the appointment, or looking at his chart to see that he is "prescribed" a routine of coming twice weekly for a month for the same injection, they gave him the "lab work - other" which apparently to them is routine lab work... no questions about why I was asking for "lab work other", just took the blood and gave the dog back without another word. I noticed when I saw the receipt that should have been $30 but was instead $200. One would think that the tech and or vet would reach out as to why blood work was being taken or what they may be looking for, but no. When I called and eventually brought the dog back, a very hostile owner/vet came to my car to yell at me in a very intense manner. He said my fiancé lied about the events that happened (that no one asked him why he was there) and demanded I call him in front of him. So I did. My fiancé explained to the owner that the tech did not ask why the dog was there. An incredible weird sequence of events. I should have left the practice at this point, which I threatened to but decided to give another Dr. a chance. I saw a great female veterinarian a few months later looking into next steps for my dog's arthritis. She recommended a repeat of the same 4 week/ twice a week injunctions. We actually talked about my last experience and she said they would schedule all of the injections right then and there to avoid any confusion. I did that 2 weeks ago, brought my dog to the first two appointments and got the injection no problem. My fiancé took him for the third injection, no problem. My fiancé tried to take him today and was told that he "wasn't allowed" to bring the dog without my authorization. A new policy? Since the 4 days earlier he was there? Disorganized at best. Unprofessional at least. So, they called me repeatedly for 45 minutes but I was unable to answer my phone as I am on a business trip (the reason said fiancé is there). They had my dog inside but wouldn't give him back or the injection until they reached me. Finally after an hour, and my fiancé getting the dog back in the car after going inside the building, I saw the missed calls and spoke to an understandable furious fiancé. Baffled, I called and tried speaking to them to tell them to be told it's "in my chart" (apparently since today only) that only I can bring my dog for services. More likely, the owner heard somehow that he brought the dog and not myself and decided to be unprofessional and impose a new rule to be petty. What a nightmare! If you value your sanity and your animal's health, I highly recommend going to a more professional practice with empathetic and kind ownership.

When I arrived today they were very helpful and helped me with carrying my cat into the examining room which is difficult for me because I am on oxygen. Dr Mirro was very thorough. He checked temperature, ears, listened to his lungs and did xrays. I was pleasantly surprised that the bill was a lot lower than expected. Will continue bringing our pets to this clinic.
