That meant so much to me. I had to get it done so I remembered Malsons Jewelers. They're located across the street from Planet fitness on 86th. I believe in God, so I truly feel it was God who brought Malsons to my attention. 4 days before Christmas 2023 I bring in my wife's ring to be repaired. When I walked into Malsons there was love. Instead of things going from bad to worse, everything felt as if there was a world of healing. The care and attention to my needs was IMPORTANT in their hearts. This is unheard of in these days. Not only were they able to meet the need of having my wife's wedding ring for Christmas, they found the perfect match for that beautiful ring. It was serendipitous. I purchased a beautiful set of diamond ear rings for my princess. And, because my wife's birthday is in February, I managed to get a very generous deal on the matching diamond necklace. These days are rough. There's practically zero love, or care in the business world, but this was special. I found a God send in Malsons jewelers. The staff were all so kind, going above and beyond for this perfect stranger. Caring enough to expedite a repair at a very busy time of year and getting it done. I highly recommend Malsons Jewelers for your love needs. When we arrived at the store, the initial experience was normal and professional with the First Lady that greeted us.(Unfortunately, I can't remember her name; she was professional.) I needed my 1ct platinum engagement ring, 1ct platinum wedding band, and a gold bracelet repaired. We received a cost estimate for repair, and we agreed on the repairs. We got a receipt with the jewelry breakdown, and I noticed that the engagement ring had no GIA serial number listed; my diamond is GIA certified . So I asked for the GIA serial number to be listed on the receipt for security on both my end and the store's end. Michelle proceeded to involve herself when I asked the store associate to please include the diamond GIA inscription number. Michelle asked me why I needed that included and got offended that I even asked and proceeded to tell me that they are a reputable company for over 20 years. I told her I just need it so when I pick up my ring, I'm certain it's the same one I dropped off. (This should be standard in all jewelry stores.) She then grabbed my ring and dropped it and became very aggravated with me. She claimed she couldn't even see the inscription because it was small. Her brother, Chris, told her what loop magnification to use, and she told me to look at it myself, and they would write it. Michelle, I can't believe you have been in business for 20 years and you don't know how to use a basic loop. Shame. I was made to feel like my 1ct was insignificant and small to see the inscription. After that bad experience paired with Michelle's attitude , I requested to cancel the repair. Michelle asked me why I felt like I needed to cancel only because of the inscription. I said it was for my comfort, and I no longer felt comfortable. I received all my jewelry back and left the store. I feel like it's important to post about my experience in this establishment because I still don't understand what I did wrong to be treated differently. Microscopic verification is a must. I should not have to request this!!! Michelle needs to look deep within herself and ask herself why she felt the need to treat a customer the way she treated me today. I am far too trusting and thought, "jeweler little special watch tools, experience..." WRONG. I should have left when I saw that the store was filled with old junk trinkets for sale everywhere. To adjust this watch band required skills and abilities far beyond what this place offers. Each link has a small screw at either side... well when it was handed back to me after waiting a half hour, it all seemed find and correctly done. They only charged five dollars, so I was happy...oops that was the second red flag. Within a week two screws on two different links fell off, and I could have lost the watch, but fortunately I was at home. But those screws are tiny and gone. Now I have to bring a brand new watch in to have the band serviced, at a top of the line watch repair. It will be over $100. I have one screw they can cannibalize from the one removed link. The old couple that runs the joint are very nice, and if I had a typical less than $100.00 value watch, I would let them change the battery...maybe. I didn't really want to leave a review, but people need to be warned, I wish I had read more bad and truthful reviews, and then I wouldn't have innocently wandered in, ouch! Maybe they are fine to work with costume jewelry and inexpensive watches... but be very careful bringing anything of value here.
