Please turn a blind eye. It's officially called Spoken Word (I think it has a Facebook page if you want to look it up) and it's Mondays at 8pm, and primarily in English -- a fun place to take your French friends who want to learn! It's a relatively small room and can get hot, so don't wear your favorite cashmere turtleneck sweater to this one (speaking from experience, unfortunately). If you want to recite a poem or do a skit or sing a song, you just sign up beforehand with the Italian guy wearing the top hat (don't remember his name...gah!). It's a fun little community and a good place to meet English and French speakers alike!

So at 11am, it was a good place to sit for an hour. They only have croissant and pan au chocolat, and the woman didn't know how to make a cappucino or latte. To her credit, she readily admitted such, and spoke English as well. We did have a tasty cafe creme and a hot chocolate; the pastries were fresh and tasty. The decor is 'lived in' but comfortable, complete with some interesting photography.

I loved this place! This was my first experience eating in…read moreFrance. My friend picked us up from the airport...and we came here for brunch after resting at their house for a few hours. it was walking distance ...up a long staircase! this was food heaven...i wish the restaurants we went to the rest of the week were this good...but this is in a residential area where our hotel was in a more tourist area...so what did i expect? hubby and i both opted for the brunch with meat (vs salmon) with wine (yay wine for breakfast!!) each an every item on the plate was perfect...not sure exactly what everything was...so i took a picture of the plate and the menu. there was a pancake like item and a french toast like item...both filled with different creamy yummies... misc. meats and cheeses...oh so good! no Charcuterie platter in the US will ever touch what i had that morning. eggs (i normally don't care for eggs...but this was delish). yogurt and fruit...both heavenly! apparently my friend and his husband to be are regulars here and the owner brought us a bottle of champagne on the house toast their wedding celebration (later that night). oh so nice! we returned here a couple of times through the week we were here...to drink...i wish i had a chance to eat something else here...i'm sure it was pefection. if i am ever fortunate enough to make it back to Paris again, i will be sure to have at least 2 more meals here....
