Absolute WORST place I've ever gone to get my hair cut. I'm from out of town, but I'm in Highlands for the summer, so I needed a trim. Keep in mind that I am a male. The guy cutting my hair, doesn't even spend fifteen minutes before he hands me the comb and he's like, "Tell me what you think." I respond, "Well, I wanted it shorter... like all over." 10 minutes later I have this HUGE volumized cut, and I just wanna get out of there. He' goes to check me out and he says, "$35" For maybe 30 minutes of work?! I said hell no. And he charged me $20 and I was OUTTA there. Save yourself. Find a different hairdresser. Edit 7/28/2013: Just wanted to add that I was accosted by Gale in my own place of business for leaving this review a year later. The hairdresser I had was Jerry, and she told me that I made a review for Michael. As you can see above, I mentioned no specific hairdresser by name. It's a business owner's job to make sure that their employees properly reflect the brand. So instead of taking an appropriate customer service route, like offering me another chance at a haircut for a discounted price, Gale told me my review was "incorrect and not very nice". Micheal is truly a professional owned salons in Atlanta and worked at Old Edwards! So glad I found someone who can manage my thick course head of hair. He is the best colorist I have ever had. When you enter the salon you have his total attention from beginning until you are finished! He has always taken credit cards or other forms of payment, prices are very fair! I highly recommend him. A girls hair is important to her. I have always driven a couple hours to Atlanta for my color and cuts, been to some of the best. When complimenting stops it is time to find a new person to do your hair. I will never be able to say how amazing Michael is with hair. Talent and years of experience prove an awesome outcome!! Take a picture of what you want and communicate, no one will ever be a mind reader. The compliments on my hair are constant and the first question is, who does your hair. My hair is a challenge but with the right cut and highlights I love it!! read more

I have never had such a bad experience at a salon . I was seated by an old blonde woman . She has no experience or etiquette . She dropped water all over me while washing my hair. She started to blow dry my hair and while doing so she burnt my neck . I was like ouch and she did not stop to apologize . I then said maybe using a different brush will work better . She did not apologize and instead stopped blow drying my hair. She was extremely rude and said you can find another place . There are many other great places - don't go here !! They suck ! Try the spa at old Edwards inn ! This place will eventually go out of business . I wish I could give them negative stars . read more

NIGHTMARE PRICE GOUGING SALON!! Non existent owner lets inept, rude, psychotic female staff member run business!!! I am a resident of Highlands and on June 1, 2013, I was scheduled to have my hair and my two young bridesmaids hair done at Michaels for Hair for my 11:00 wedding at First Presbyterian Church in Highlands. I, the bride, had a 9:00am appointment scheduled with a woman by the name of Gale. Arriving at 9:03 with my hair already washed and blown out, as all I wanted was a simple elegant pin-up-do (I am 50 years old) I was greeted by Gale, the rudest, nastiest most vile woman I have ever met in my life. At 9:03, I profusely apologized that we were a few minutes late as I had to pick up the other two young ladies scheduled to have a blow out by a male hairdresser on staff. Gale welcomed me by proceeding to SHOUT at me from her salon chair across the entire salon saying "didn't I know who she was???" she proceeded to reprimand me, flailing her arms, slamming drawers, hand on hip saying that she had back to back appointments all day, and that I had now "ruined her day by making her late for the rest of her appointments..." I stood frozen to the floor listening to her go ON AND ON AND ON... shocked by her total loss of control. When she finally stopped shouting at me, I looked at the clock and said, "its now only 9:10... how long does one up-do take? the other girls have appointments with another hairdresser, is 50 minutes not long a long enough time for you to do an up do?" ..." I am the bride, are you telling me, there is not enough time for you to do my hair?" And off she went again about how busy she was, how she opens the salon...bla bla bla.... I finally held my hand up and said to her "look, I'm really not comfortable with your energy or the tone and attitude by which you are speaking to me, I'm getting married in less than 2 hours and I quite honestly no longer feel comfortable having you touch me or my hair..." and before I could finish my sentence she thrusts her arm completely extended pointing to the door and screams "FINE, OUT, GET OUT!! THERE IS THE DOOR, GO!! OUT!! OUT WITH YOU!! OUT WITH YOU THEN!! I have plenty of other clients I'll call and I'll just move them in to your space. OUT! OFF WITH YOU!! Keep in mind, that I still have my young daughter who is my maid of honor and my young niece scheduled with the other male stylist coming in from the car. Shocked and appalled by Gales behavior as I'm leaving the salon heading to my car, a male stylist follows me out the door, stopping me saying, "please, please, let me take your girls. I still want to do their hair, I would be happy to do their hair. I'm sorry for Gales behavior, please let me do their hair. Tell them to come on and come on in," I greatly appreciated his sincerity, so not wanting to ruin the experience of the day for my girls, I asked them to come into the salon. Each girl received a blow out while I went home and did my own hair. When we came back to pick them up, two young girls, with clean short, way above the shoulder, short hair were charged $130.00 FOR BLOWOUTS. In conclusion, I have called and repeatedly left messages for Michael the owner to call me back. To this very day, I have yet to receive a call back from Michael to discuss Gales bazar, unprofessional, frighteningly unstable behavior or the outrageous price gouging. I have however spoken to many of my local Highland friends and business owners and have shared my experience I had at Michaels for Hair with Gale with many of my church and country club members. I had a great experience. I don't know what got across Nigel who did a prior review but mine was very pleasant. I too am a male and I went to Gail and she did great job. I watched Michael working on others and he was really good too. I am going again this week.... read more
