We asked Alex to bring out the food trailer and cook up his amazing food all night long. He had everything prepared as we had discussed and served our guests from 6pm until 2am. On top of that, he was serving breakfast by 8am the next morning. Our health is important to us, and it was important to convey that through our food menu. Alex met and exceeded our expectations with a menu including delicious fruits and vegetables and amazing chicken and pork. Everything was vegetarian friendly and then our guests could choose to add in the meat. He even made specialty lemonade with dinner and flavored ice coffee with breakfast! We met with Alex on two separate occasions to discuss the food menu. Our guest list was vague, so we had to plan for a wide number of people. And, many of our guests were vegetarian. There was no pressure because Alex gave us the options to go as cheap or as fancy as we wanted-- and he was just as excited to do whatever we threw at him. So, we decided on a moderate price range, and he catered to exactly what we dreamed. Healthy and delicious options that allowed many different combinations... and, although simple, the food is still talked about by many of our friends as, "the best wedding food we've ever had!" Jambalaya, red beans and rice, quinoa and roasted vegetable, grilled asparagus, grilled portabella, pasta salad, pulled pork and pulled chicken breast could be combined in any fashion and served on a plate, on a bun or in a wrap with a variety of sauces. It was a great combination to cover a wide variety of pallets. People were going up six or seven times! Breakfast consisted of biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs and orange juice. This guy can do just about anything. Alex puts a lot of love into his food. It was very obvious. Plus, he was easy to work with. We developed a menu, figured the cost and he took care of everything else. We knew we had to have great food and great music for our reception. Alex came through with some truly great food. Unfortunately, Classic Events was anything but top notch in their professionalism and communication. In my first phone call to Classic Events, I was told that another customer was on the other line and that someone would call me back right away. I never received a phone call. I sent an e-mail, which was never responded to. I called once more and was told that someone would call me back yet again. A week later I did receive a phone call. The man I spoke with told me that our date was open and that they would be happy to cater our event. I was asked to send an e-mail of menu requests and they would send a quote back. He assured me that they would do whatever they could to keep within our budget. After sending the e-mail, I still had not received any communication in over a week. Calling yet again, I was told by a different man that, oh yes, they had received my e-mail, but they did not respond because the date is booked anyway. When I told him that I was upset due to the fact that I had been told differently, he began to have a tone with me. He said that he would double check the date and call me back the next morning. I have still not received this phone call. This entire back and forth communication process lasted over a month. At this point, I began to panic as my event was two weeks away. I came upon Nelson's Catering. They were pleasant, efficient, and had a quote back to us the same day. My recommendation is that if you are looking for timely, professional, and proficient catering service in the Champaign area, you should look elsewhere than Classic Events Catering.
