First, the practitioners will parrot the same recommendations regardless of whether they make sense. And when you ask them to explain their reasoning they'll clam up. This whole breastfeeding institute or whatever they call it is a joke -- in a couple of appointments, their main recommendation was actually to use a Facebook group!! Second, the scheduling system and approach is nonsensical. You must call to get anything scheduled, and in order to get a real person on the line you have to possibly spend hours on the phone I suspect this is their way of reducing volume when they cannot keep up; they are assuming that some parents would just give up and miss the time window and go away. But one thing they are truly good at is billing -- those arrive right on the dot. In summary, why would you go to them: - For medical expertise? No, most of the time you don't even see a doctor. And the ones aren't anything special - For convenience? Big hospitals are not great, but at least you can call anytime and schedule online. Not like Senders. At the big box hospital we felt like we were just a number and not positive that they had our daughter's best interest in mind. With Dr. Milner, we found exactly what we wanted. She has provided us with the expert care of years in the profession. With Dr. Milner we know our daughter is in the best hands and feel the trust as if one of our own family members were taking care of our daughter. Here is just one example: Our preemie daughter came down with a nasty cough late on a Friday afternoon. Dr. Milner stayed late at the office to check her out so we wouldn't have to be worried or need to go to the emergency room over the weekend. As it turned out, she did have RSV, a serious respiratory infection for which many infants are hospitalized. She got us set up with the proper nebulizer treatments and we never had to admit her to a hospital or seek emergency care. We can call her office line anytime and she will get back to us, even on the weekend or evening. We would gladly pay any amount to get the best care for our daughter, but that is not necessary. It is covered by insurance the same as any hospital. On another plus side, we have had absolutely NO billing issues using this private practice, which is such a refreshing change!

Cleveland Clinic Fairview (worked with them three time for IP Psych) are on their game, great teams, more frequent check-ins on your child, better group sessions (says my child), better food (rainbow food is cold and dry), Fairview have competent, emotionally intelligent staff who understand the stress and worry of a concerned parent -- who actually listen and will extend the care of your child. I COULD NOT BE MORE DISAPPOINTED WITH RAINBOW IP PSYCH. I needed to request the ombudsman evaluate their decision to release our child when he was by all measure in a worse place and not given reasonable time for med changes to take effect and was told, "I can give you the number" and "I can look into it.", but never given a yes. When they gave questionable advice, were challenged (based of 3x times previous IP Psych experience at CCF Fairview), and then told them I was recording the conversation to preserve history, they refused to talk. Why would a medical professional, giving their professional opinion, as an expert who claims they know better than a worried parent, when the advice is questionable (to a worried parent) not willingly invite active review by the ombudsman to protect themselves? Why would they be afraid to have their exert advice to be recorded? Rainbow is an absolute NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED jewel for nearly all things pediatric medical. I would still take my kids there for ANYTHING OTHER THAN IP PSYCH because they are elite among the elite. But I implore all parents, if your kid requires IP Psych, NEVER GO HERE. I called super early after being ill for far too long. While my PCP was super booked, the appointment line was able to get me in within just a few hours to see Dr. Patton, who is located in the same office. I'm usually hesitant to try any new doctors (I've had a lot of bad experiences), but I truly needed to be seen and took the chance. Dr. Patton is someone I would highly recommend for anyone. She is very intelligent, kind and listens to her patients. I completely trust in her and her ability to diagnose and treat. Her office is well-run and efficient compared to another major hospital system that always leaves me with a giant headache. And again, I can't tell you how much I appreciated being seen urgently within 2 hours of my phone call. That never happens anywhere, ever. The only thing I would change would be to have better signage for his office. They are located on an entire floor above Hoolihan's Restaurant on Detroit Rd. (off the Columbia exit) but all that's there is a University Hospitals sign. Kind of confusing but so worth it once you know where you are going.
