Allied Property Services - Water damage

Allied Property Services

We recently had a broken pipe in our upstairs bathroom that ended up soaking the entire main floor…read moreand went through to the basement. It seemed very overwhelming the amount of damage that was left in its wake, but Schaun walked us through every step of the way. From dealing with the insurance company to mitigation and finally rebuilding the ceiling, floors, walls and everything else that needed to be replaced, Schaun and his team were on top of it every step of the way. The whole damage (which trust me was a lot) took eight or nine weeks total to rehab and most of that time was spent waiting for the insurance company to approve the claim. Even before the claim went through, Allied was at our house with air scrubbers, giant fans, and dehumidifiers to prevent any mold buildup that may have taken place since the leak. They were also on top of the insurance company to get our claim approved, and once it finally was, his crew was here the next day to get started on the work and continued to be here each day until the job was done. Schaun was very professional and courteous and his crew did a great job getting our house back in order. I would recommend them to others and use Allied Property Services again if anything like this ever happened again.

They did a great job improving the overall look without the need for a full replacement, which saved me a significant amount of money. They were easy to work with, transparent about what could realistically be achieved with repairs, and honest about the trade-offs between repairing and replacing. I really appreciated that they didn't try to upsell unnecessary work. Overall, I'm very happy with the results and would absolutely use them again.

Gregory Contracting

I was hoping my review of Gregory Contracting would be a favorable one, as I have had a fond…read moreprevious experience with them and was hoping this time would be the same. My mother needed a new roof on the house and I had two bids for this. Gregory Contracting was higher but with my past experience and knowing the quality of work they did for me, I felt it was worth it. SORRY, THIS REVIEW IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. Around December 23, 2024 we signed the contract, paid the deposit fee and felt good about this project. We were told work would start in aprox 4 weeks and that they would put a tarp over the roof to prevent any moisture from entering the house. Here is the start of the problem, they did not put a tarp on the roof, only removed any leaves and other debris from the area. Around January 20th , I called them and asked if they had any idea when the roof would be started, they told me January 27. I said great and believed that this is when they would start. January 20, received an E-mail from Paul, saying he was going to the job site and make sure all of the material was ordered for the project. I asked him when he was going to be out there as I would like to met him and see if there was anything that needed to be done before the job started, never heard a word from him. January 27th came and left, no one came to work on the roof and I did not receive any call. Material was delivered but no roofers showed up. January 28th, I called Gregory and they told me there was a problem with a previous job but work should start January 29 but no later than January 30. January 30, 2:10pm no roofer showed up. Called Gregory again asking when the job might start. Received , what I believed, an angry call from Paul saying that he sent me a text earlier in the day saying the roofers were delayed but they will be there today. I did not receive a text. He was right, they came and dropped off a contractor trailer and a dump trailer, than left. I also received an E-mail from Heather on January 30, stating that Progress payment is needed for the work done. I informed Heather that the roofers have not done any work on the as of yet. January 31, the roofer replaced some rotted wood and the saddle around the chimney. February 3, I went to Gregory and paid them the progress payment, they have not asked for it as of yet but I thought I would build trust and good will so we paid it. February 4th, received on E-mail from Paul stating they needed to have a change order signed as the rotten wood was not part of the bid. I understood this and went on Wednesday February 5th to Gregory and signed the change order. Today at 1:44 pm Paul sent me an E-mail stating that the change order needs to be paid in full in order for them to continue working. As of right now we have paid Gregory Contracting 90% of the cost to do the job with only some rotted wood replaced and a saddle installed, and now I have to make a special trip to pay this $1,800.00 change order in order for them to continue with the work. Not sure but I have also been selected for jury duty and may not be able to make this special trip. Also our paying the second payment without being asked for it means nothing to them. The other interesting think is a permit is needed from the county to replace a roof. This permit is required "BEFORE"' the work is to start as it is to be in a visible location. As of today February 5, no permit is posted. I guess I will have to get the permit as Gregory is unable to do this. Gregory Contracting is horrible at communications both with the customer and among themselves. Right now, I wish I would have gone with bid #2.

Avoid Gregory Contracting at all costs! Very unfriendly and give unreliable estimates!read more
