I am always stressed with trying to communicate to an accountant during tax season and usually end up filing late because of not being able to reach them/not knowing they need more information. This was the opposite of my experience this year. I just walked in with no appointment and they took my folder of information. Twice over the next few days they called and asked a few questions and were able to help me figure out what to include and what not to in my answers. Then they were done and all I had to do was e-sign. This was by far the least stressful tax process I have ever experienced. Highly recommend!

Friday I drove my dad to H & R Block to get his taxes done. I had never been to an H & R Block…read morebefore. It was a row of more than a dozen small but fairly comfortable offices with a counter at the entrance where they greet customers and take your payment for services rendered. My dad arrived very prepared. The female associate who worked with us was friendly, professional and very organized in explaining and reviewing the tax information. She also showed us documents previewing the 2018 tax year. What really impressed me was when the associate suggested a way to possibly avoid a 2017 tax penalty with the state of Kentucky. She also provided my dad with copies of all the documents he needed for 2017 and 2018 and envelopes. We were there for a little more than 95 minutes. Upon leaving his taxes were electronically filed and all he had to do was make several payments. Sitting in her office with my dad at H & R Block I saw why he has returned to this associate for many years in a row. She clearly knows the tax law and was good at saving my dad money. I arrived at the office early, and they were closed. I waited until 9:45a and no one showed up. I called and emailed to see if I was confused based on a miscommunication. Of the two numbers available, I left a voicemail on one, and the other didn't have a voicemail set up. The office itself was physically closed during their stated business hours. I work in health service and am big on keeping appointment from the client and provider's standpoint. Very disappointing considering they were recommended by a trusted friend.
