Yes, Ian is an incredible artist- you will see paintings, carvings, graffiti, and get hear fascinating stories about his life and work, but what you may not know is how wonderful he is with the little ones. He showed my son how to draw a dog and even let him paint! my kid had a smile on his face the entire time and his little brain soaked in every second of it. the things he has drawn since visting Fun Studio are prodigious, his preschool teacher is impressed with what hes coming up with. Great place to visit with the family. Also, you can see the Rocky Mountains and a massive gorge created by the Rio Grande in one breathtaking view. The Gallery owner noticed us leaving and indicated more was in back. We politely said no thank you and made our way out to find our friend. The gallery owner got very disturbed and yelled out "Fine, get out of here anyway" it was pretty disturbing. We then walked out to wait on our friend and sat on the bench outside to text our location to our friend. The man then came out and took the bench --just so we could-not sit. We left the front of the store because he obviously misread the situation and was acting erratically. After we found out friend we Noted the bench had been replaced. The gallery owner had most likely had a bad day but his reaction and attitude will not make us want to return. Very sad since we were quite excited to see his work. His loss. He might consider getting a retail person to take care of the store.

The beautiful former home of artist and wood carver Nicolai Fechin is the home to the Taos Art…read moreMuseum. Fechin moved with his family to Taos in 1927 to try to cure his tuberculosis. Over the course of the next six years, he expanded his home and carved staircases, doors, fireplace mantels, furniture, and a religious altar for his renovated house. Unfortunately, despite all of the work that he did to remodel his home, his wife divorced him and he moved with this daughter to LA. After his death, his daughter helped establish the home as a museum. As the Taos Art Museum, the home serves as the backdrop for art shows. During our visit, there was an exhibit of Marjorie Eaton paintings. Access is limited to 10 guests per time slot. Only four people were in the museum during our visit. He remade my mother's wedding ring and band into one ring (mediocre) and he made earrings out of a Chinese mother of pearl game token adding a gold frame and a pearl to each (I was astounded by the price tag of over $700, but my bad for not getting an estimate). I took my lab grown diamond anniversary band to have a diamond reset that had fallen out and asked that they also check the others to make sure they weren't loose. I picked up my ring which I thought looked good. Upon closer examination at home I discovered that almost half of my ring was smashed on the interior and the stone that was replaced was crooked. I took the ring back and spoke with Larry. He said he did not do the work, someone else did. He took the ring back and said he would see what he could do with it. He did apologize. I picked it up and this time, not only was the inside still smashed, but the exterior silver looked like it had been sanded. So, half of my ring is shiny silver and have is dull. It is ruined. I'm sorry Larry, but if someone did that to one of your beautiful silver creations you would not be happy. Neither am I.
