The staff at this location must drink pure snowboard knowledge for breakfast. I walked in doing my best impression of a confused penguin and they immediately translated my grunts ("me like turny turny, also floaty floaty") into the exact board I didn't know I needed. Zero eye-rolling, zero upselling, just pure stoke facilitation. Side note: I've been rocking Aperture pants and jackets from Zumiez for years now and I'm convinced they're secretly made from retired rain clouds and unicorn tears. I've been out in full-on Cascadian apocalypse weather (sideways rain, negative temps, the kind of cold that makes your soul shiver) and stayed so dry I could've smuggled a bag of chips in my jacket and they'd still be crunchy by last chair. Aperture is the best "I can't believe this isn't $800" deal in snowboarding.

My daughter and I came out to the outlet mall to do some shopping. They had a line and let us in a…read morefew at a time. The staff were all wearing masks. Customers were not. We were standing in line and were standing in line and while 6 feet away from the customer in front of us, Sam the associate at the register came over and asked us to move back on the X. We apologized and did so without fuss. While in the store we noticed some customers not wearing a mask. As a caregiver, I understand the mask is for others protection not your own. My daughter did not feel comfortable enough to look at some items she found interesting as there were some younger, perhaps college aged guys stepping in front of her, without a mask and coughing. I just told her we can't control that and to just pay for what we got and leave. We then get to the register and Sam asks us if we found everything we were looking for to which I let her know that she wanted to look at a display however several guys were over there and not wearing a mask, coughing and so we were unable to grab the item she wanted. Instead of offering to go get it for us, Sam told us "we can't force customers to wear a mask and could not do anything about it. It should be noted that Sam had a mask on her face but it was not covering her nose. Of course I pointed that out and then asked why she would ask us to move back when others were able to freely crowd customers when not wearing a mask. She was less than professional and proceeded to tell us that masks were not required, just suggested. We paid for our items and left. I took a picture of the sign on the door. Seems odd that they ask folks not to come in if they have symptoms but don't take a temp and don't ask folks who are coughing to wear one. Plus, she in particular should be trained on the proper use. It should also be noted that they did not clean between customers and so not sure how much they care. I give one star only because we can't give zero. My daughter loves this store however we will just be buying directly from the brand rather than dealing with this again. All other stores we went into required all to wear masks. I'm super disappointed. This store is overpriced and reckless in my opinion. My advice is to enter at your own risk. Merchandise same pricing as any other Zumiez.

When I asked a question about a size of a certain brand she said, "I don't know.. you see I don't wear them". It was in a tone that was very passive aggressive. I'm 50 years old, I've purchased multiple shoes from many stores and have asked same question, this is the first time I've encountered such response. When she got the size of the first brand, I mentioned I'd like to try another brand to compare, she seemed annoyed and took back the ones I got which I wanted to use to compare. I really needed the boots for work the next day, otherwise, I would've walked out because the NEGATIVE energy was very strong in her reactions: tone, body language. I am strongly suggesting to my brown friends, family, co-workers to avoid this store or just be prepared for same treatment. I've been in this country for 40 years, and I am a LEGAL citizen, I'm more shocked than surprised that at 50 years of age in 2024 someone at a business establishment can treat a customer who's looking for working boots like they're a nuisance.
