My wife (Jo) and I had been considering renovating our kitchen and the timing seemed perfect during the COVID shutdowns when we thought we had selected the right vendor to do the job. We decided to meet with KDS who primarily does cabinetry work as they wanted to expand their business into doing full renovations. We met with John and Shawn Thompson at the KDS showroom and then at our house with their staff to discuss the scope of the project. This was a pretty big job with the demolishing of our old kitchen, removing the old tile floors and putting new ones down (in three rooms beside the kitchen), a adding number of new; appliances, cabinets, counter tops, farmers sink, wall tiling, with the corresponding electrical, plumbing, dry wall, interior painting and HVAC work to make it all happen! Once we met with the team we were reassured that they had dependable contractors they had used and would be using them for the project. We decided as well to pay for the services of Shawn (John's wife) as the project manager (she also did interior design as well!) to ensure that we would have scheduling and accountability for the work. Shaw developed the schedule and John worked up the cost of the complete project. We were given a 4-6 week projection for the work, but Shawn said she was going to target for three and half weeks! I have extensive project management experience and it looked tight with everything having to go right to do that (which is normally not the case...), but knowing that we agreed on the project with a last minute change being added by us when we decided to move a small wall to enlarge a closet as part of the project (not usually a good idea to make last minute changes...). They hit the ground running with a well coordinated team that worked well together. We had a functioning fully renovated kitchen in FOUR weeks with a larger pantry closet, except for some punch list items that took a little while longer to knock out. The results were spectacular and we are thrilled with the quality of their work and the timeless of the project! The team was great to work with and was respectful of our property and responsive to any questions or requests we had. They even repaired a chip that the flooring installers had made to the bottom of one of the cabinets which they didn't have to do. They had everything spelled out in the contract so I knew exactly what they would and wouldn't do when it came to the kitchen renovations. They provided the names of other tradespeople to do the wall repairs and tiling. The other tradespeople did an excellent job as well so you can see they vetted whoever they recommended. Each week they tell us it will be ready in a few days - lie, or they needed more material and only partially built it - lie. asked to send pics of the partially cut or built door and nothing. They do not take care of their customers and lie to your face every time you inquire. Plenty of millwork suppliers out there and have to think more than a few actually have good service.

She was communicative and took responsibility when she made an error. She was also pleasant. The installation process really fell short. It took much longer than expected with many errors. 4 or 5 times the installers had to come back for parts of the job they couldn't get done on the schedule. This was sometimes because they didn't know how to do things, several times because they did things wrong, and also because cabinet parts came in incorrectly sized or cut. The installers damaged my new range and flooded and scraped the newly installed hardwood floor. The owners were unapologetic. While they did correct mistakes when pressed, they reacted to each event by trying to evade responsibility initially. The cabinets and installation were very expensive and although the designer truly rocked, the installation and the management ruined the remodeling experience for me, causing me to regret ever taking on the major change of our kitchen.

After telephone calls to have them come back and inspect, we have not received a call or email back for help to come and check out the work. They also never returned any of my calls after the initial repair on other work we discussed. Along with the shoddy work on the roof, the customer service is terrible and unprofessional. I would never used them again or refer them to anyone! BEWARE! No rates here.

He did the job via long distance. We met with him while we were there. He started work after we left. He sent us photos. We sent him photos. We had conference calls and it worked like a dream. All 3 bathrooms required custom cabinetry. All 3 are gorgeous! He even used a special spray paint on the cabinets that I didn't know about and it was so slick looking. We loved it! Since we couldn't get back to the house for several months we went ahead and paid him in full. When we got to the house we found a few minor things that still needed to be done.
