Mike at International Hardwood Flooring did an excellent job sanding and refinishing my floors…read morewhich had not been touched since the 1940s. Mike approached the job with a can-do positive attitude and was unfazed by the fact that heavy furniture would need to be moved. He suggested creative ways to deal with the furniture without compromising his high standards of workmanship. The color and the finish of the floors came out perfectly throughout the house. Mike also installed new hardwood flooring in the entryway and was able to match the color in the rest of the house and give it a seamless look. In all his interactions with me, Mike was very responsive and patient and promptly answered my numerous questions. He and his team thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed the floors after they had dried and left the house tidy. He put back the furniture he had moved and advised me on how to pad the metal on the bottom of chairs and other heavy pieces to minimize the risk of damage to the floors. From the outset, Mike came across as highly knowledgeable about different types of wood flooring and the appropriate types of finishes in each case, and inspired confidence in his professional competence. I chose this company thanks in large part to Mike's excellent YELP reviews and I am now happy to add my name to the list of his highly satisfied customers.

On the recommendation of a contractor I've known for years I called Mike Tran to get a quote for…read morerefinishing 3 rooms and a hallway on the first floor which had been done several times previously. I also wanted a portion of an upstairs bedroom done since it had not been refinished since the house was built. On the way downstairs Mike looked at the hallway outside the bedroom and asked if I would like that done as well since there were some scratches which had been caused by an ironing board being dragged over it. He did tell me that the scratches would not go wayway and, although they were barely noticeable, I agreed to have it done thinking that a fresh coat of polyurethane couldn't hurt. Unfortuately, I was wrong, as the refinishing resulted in there being a number of dark brown streaks where the scratches were. Mike negleted to tell me that the color of the scratches would be dramatically different from the oak floor that was being refinished. Had I been informed of this, I would not have done the hallway. The quality of Mike's work is good but he needs to be very clear regarding what one can expect based upon the job that has been contracted.

Turns out Clive has been working for this company for decades, at least since before it moved 20+ years ago from Washington Street. His efficiency was impressive. Not only was he able to do the requested cut and binding the SAME DAY, he took an additional request from me and did it within an HOUR. He cared about the work too, cautioning me about a decision I was making, but ultimately leaving the decision up to me. I was lucky to get in the door just before a couple of other projects, but WOW, I've never had a business be so responsive. Now that I think about it, I didn't ask if he was married, lol! The work is excellent, and I cannot recommend Carpetville enough. Clearly he is treated well by his boss if he has stayed for so long. Bravo to Carpetville!
