As they say, when in Rome,...... Sadly, my Spanish isn't up to much and certainly not enough a to sustain a conversation about all the different of hams and cheeses on offer. So, I resorted to looking at the meat on the legs and at the prices to gauge quality I eventually settled on a basic Iberico ham and a more expensive Jabugo ham. Now, slicing ham off a whole leg does take practice and I've seen some novices really struggle. So, it was nice to see an expert at work as she expertly shaved off 100g of each ham The prices were much lower than in London but that's to be expected for Iberico ham in Spain, I suppose Both hams were meaty and dense with flavour but I preferred the more expensive Jabugo, which was moister and tempered some of the saltiness with the more subtle umami flavour

The staff were so helpful and friendly, we had filter coffee and bread with smashed avocado,cheese,ham and pumpkin seeds which tasted great. There are not a lot of pastries on offer at the moment but that might change with time, so overall I would recommend giving this place a try!

He made sure we tried local items, such as the Sherry. We'd never sipped on Sherry before, and it was perfect! Our tapas dishes were huge! They'd offered a "menu" for 25€/head including 4 glasses of wine and 4 different kinds of cheese, I had asked for free bread and water included and that people should not be hungry at the end, because 25€ is a lot especially in Spain, and they said ok. On the said night we arrived at the restaurant and paid the 25€ upfront because I wanted to guarantee they had full payment. So... we indeed had 4 glasses of wine but the cheese... They gave us only 3 ridiculous platters of cheese out of which you could only feed 2 people!! For the 12 of us!! And no water. So we asked for water. Then came 3 50cl bottles of water. We were still hungry so asked for another cheese platter and then we thought that finally we would get some value for our money. Then the waiter offered more food (he said "foie") and we were like "oh great! Free stuff!! Yeah bring it on" so we had our foie which actually was disgusting pâté de foie covered with weird stuff like chocolate!!! Oh my god this is not French!! But we thought we were getting it for free so what the hell. And then the waiter came back offering deserts or cocktails and then we thought this was the most amazing restaurant ever offering us so many things when we thought it was expensive to start with!! How mistaken were we.. Some of us started to leave and then the waiter arrived saying that we still had the bill to pay for. So I asked what bill because we'd already paid and he brought a 150€ bill!!! For all extras we thought were free!! Like for instance : 26€ for a plate of 4 very small pieces of what they called foie gras and which was actually pâté de foie. They even charged us for water. And when looking at the detailed bill we realized that the original tasting menu should have cost us 20€ and not even 25. Just DO NOT GO THERE.

I asked for the steak to be cooked pink with no red, like between medium rare and medium....the steak came out a bit more than medium...but it was still very good. I also asked for the steak not to be seasoned with a lot of salt, and they did cut down the seasoning. The crispy chicken salad was delicious...small pieces of fried chicken chunks were scattered all around this bed of fresh green vegetables. The dressing came on the side. The waitress that served us answered all our questions without any hesitation and clearly knew about all the ingredients that went into everything on the menu. We chose a Cajun burger and flame grilled chicken the chicken was so succulent and had a smokey flavour and the salad was lovely and fresh, the burger was cooked to perfection lovely and juicy and great fries. When we told the waitress this was our last night in Malaga at the end of the meal she returned with complementary shots and sweets which was unexpected but a nice surprise !
