Gorgeous desserts in this cute spot close to the train station! They also sell their own brand of chocolates!

Located at The Takutai Square next to Tiffany's, Miann offers a delightful selection of sweets and coffee. The twin young ladies working the counter were very polite. If their desserts were so artistic and pretty! If you are the type to eat with your eyes, you need to check this place out! My wife and I came here to have some dessert after dinner. We ordered the mango cheese cake and a couple scoops of ice cream/sorbet (Baklava and Passion Fruit). The mango cheese cake was very pretty, but the taste was a little underwhelming for $14 NZD as there was minimal mango taste or cheesecake taste and crust underneath was not appealing to me. The Baklava ice cream was interesting as it is a mix of pistachio ice cream with bits of baklava mixed in. The passion fruit sorbet was my favorite and as it had a burst of fruity passion in your mouth with every bite. The vibe was very cool and is a great place for some coffee and dessert after a meal.

Heads up dessert lovers, chocoholics, and gelato stick/macaron fans, Miann has just opened up their second store in Britomart! If you are any of the above, then I guarantee you will love Miann, a sophisticated dessert bar and patisserie in Auckland CBD. The mastermind behind it all is patissier, Brian Campbell. With 15 years' work experience under his belt, including having held the position of head chef at Milse and starting up his own company, namely Sweet Cuisine (where he held dessert pop ups around Auckland), Brian has done great things for Auckland's foodie scene. Last year, he and his wife, Roselle, opened up Miann on Fort Street, which has gone from strength to strength. I am so happy about this because it is one of my favourite hang outs in Auckland, and this week, they opened up their second Miann store in the Australis Nathan Building, which looks out onto Takutai Square in Britomart. Just like their Fort Street store, your eyes will light up when you see their brightly coloured gelato sticks with edible decorations, handmade bonbons in all shapes and colours, perfectly formed macarons and their 'too beautiful to eat' gateaux. They are also selling a selection of doughnuts, jars of dragees, and handmade chocolate slabs. I visited their new dessert bar a few days ago and I loved the space - wooden floors, a feature brick wall and it is light, bright and airy. The hanging lights are beautiful too - I could literally gaze at them for hours. The staff are also lovely, especially Roselle, who was very friendly and welcoming and happy to explain all their new gateaux, bonbon and macaron creations. As always, it is hard just choosing one thing! So I tried three things - their new 55% Itakuja gateaux with dark chocolate, passionfruit, coconut and lime, two takeaway macarons and I paired these with a pot of (Tea Total) Rooibos and spiced chocolate tea. I loved the Itakuja. It was a perfect looking gateaux, with its bright orange shiny outside, and rolled in shredded coconut. It was not too sweet, but still full of flavour. The crackle base also gave it great crunch. The Rooibos and Spiced Chocolate tea was lovely - highly recommend. I'm a huge fan of rooibos tea and chocolate, so this was a win-win! It was served in a super cute pink ceramic teapot. Last but not least, the macarons. I chose two I haven't tried before - caramel latte and strawberry passionfruit. The latter was way too sweet for me, but the caramel latte is one of the best macarons I have had at Miann. Although I didn't end up trying one (next time!), their second store has a new point of difference - a Valrhona Hot Chocolate Edition, including 8 hot chocolate options, all made with Valrhona chocolate (my favourite). Options like 'Freeze dried passionfruit and coconut' and 'Hazelnut praline' are guaranteed to satisfy! If hot chocolate is not your thing, then Supreme coffee is also available, along with their fruit shrubs, specialty drinks (including Vietnamese coffee), and loose leaf tea. So, if you find yourself drooling over the likes of caramel latte, dark chocolate, black forest and raspberry or fancy an extra-indulgent hot chocolate, then Miann should definitely be next on your foodie hit list!

This was our first visit to this second branch of Miann that has been opened up , and before entering i had the feeling that we would not be disappointed . How right we were!!! As with the other one in Fort St it has plenty seating and the staff give a warm welcome and service to match. As for the " sweet delights " on offer ....it may not seem like much but would you believe it took me forever to decide which one to have. I finally chose the 46% Bahibe Caramel & Macadamia Brownie. And a Cappuccino . My better half resisted anything. When it came to the table i just felt like it would be a crime to eat it, to destroy it as the chocolate outer shone up at me with not one little imperfection. As was the ball on top . Everything just sat well together. Funny as it may sound it would be like taking a brand new luxury car out on the road knowing well that by the time you came back there would be dirt , and little scratches on it . And even a tiny little bit of damage would bring a tear to your eye. Full credit to the guys/ girls that create these masterpieces.....to hell with eating them they should be centrepieces' on display and everyone just sitting around drinking coffee's . Anyway after some more contemplation and the fact my sweet tooth was crying out i took off a small piece with my fork. Delicious !!! The outer shell never cracked or fell apart, the inner smooth and the base not crumbly. It all just sliced off beautifully onto the fork. Bar stopping to take a few photos of the inside i devoured it quite quickly. But....why does it have to be so small!!! I could have ate more...but discipline kicked in and hey there's always a next time. I also noticed there are some selection of ice creams there...also looking so tempting and like no other i've seen before....or maybe i just don't hang out in the right places. Anyway overall...yes it's a 5 out of 5. great service, clean inside, good cappuccino, and dessert to die for....

Bombe Alaska is, well, the bomb!

I was skeptical before I tasted it but now it's my favourite. Also amazing is the Russian fudge sold by the bag or in individual pieces. It's definitely one of those stores where you buy for other people and not for yourself. Items in here are really special and certainly not your everyday Snickers! However, if you're in the market for fancy chocolates like this, I think the Chocolate Boutique in Parnell is better. They have a more varied selection of posh chocs under the counter and have the added bonus of hot chocolates and desserts on the eat-in menu too.

I came here for the first time with a friend of mine last year, the smell of chocolate in the store was intense. The lady behind the counter was really friendly and had a lot of product knowledge when questioned about the different types of chocolates on display in the cabinets as well as throughout the store. That is one of the great things about Davonport Chocolates, whether you want to buy a full sized tablet or a smaller bar, or even just an individual chocolate or truffle, they have a fantastic range to suit all budgets and tastes. Even as a vegan I can buy chocolate from Davonport, the freeze dried raspberry dark chocolate tablet is heavenly and every once in a while I treat myself to one. I don't think that chocolate like this should be reserved for gifting to others. Gift it to yourself and take the time to appreciate all the hard work that went into creating it or share it with someone, but don't reserve beautiful chocolate like this just for special occasions, this type of chocolate makes an occasion special.

We were scouring the area specifically for pavlova as it's one of my faves and the adorable vibes drew us in. The dessert was lovely and so were the staff. Prices were good and their menu was massive with so many intriguing dessert options. You don't often see pavlova in the US so when I read that it's a popular dessert in New Zealand, I had it on my radar lol. They offer theirs with either passionfruit sauce or "berry" sauce. We went with the passionfruit which is quite unique for pavlova and it was a fantastic combination! The tart passionfruit sauce was a lovely compliment to the soft, sweet merengue. Chocolate Boutique is packed full of handmade chocolate bonbons, cakes, and all sorts of unique dessert gifts and options. They have hot or cold desserts and drinks and much more than just chocolate - like lemon tarts, apple crumble, carrot cake; and all sorts of other things like numerous hot chocolate drink flavors, teas and coffees too. If we weren't so stuffed from lunch I'm sure we would've tried more lol! They have options to order their chocolates online but you can also order desserts at the counter if you're dining in and they'll bring it out to your table. The seating areas quaint little nooks with wide open windows and street views of the cute Parnell area and a large red phone box - total European vibes - loved it! Of course, one of the first places I had us go to was the Chocolate Boutique. It might be tempting to eat your way through all those nearby markets (like at La Cigale), but you'll want to save some room for dessert. This shop sells what I consider the best hot chocolate you'll ever taste called the Italian Denso. It is thick, rich and decadent hot chocolate with whipped cream on top and chocolate flakes. Think of it as a cup of a molten lava cake. And the best part, nobody will judge you for drinking your dessert. Okay, maybe SOME skinny model from LA? But she isn't here!

It was because of this that I noticed it and I am really glad I did, they have a whole assortment of chocolates, fudge and amazing chocolate gifts. They were very busy in there today getting chocolate ready for Easter, and if you want you can get a big chocolate with your name on it. As well as selling to the public they have a huge number of businesses that they supply to such as hotels, restaurants and shops.
