They continue to think about what the children and our family need and bring great ideas and solutions to continue to strive for greatness for our children. For example, this year they invited both a occupational and physical therapists to help assess our kids (optional) and work closely with our teachers so they can help our kids and manage any development items as a team. They continue to add music, physical education and even Spanish classes provided by other educators. The curriculum is great and is focused on themes, after each theme (month-2 months), there is a celebration and families are invited to participate. This shows our children to have a sense of great pride in their work. My son attended a Montessori school prior to VCA and I did like that VCA had some Montessori like set up that helps children build their independence. Also, my son attended VPK and VCA follows the Florida VPK curriculum. His teacher did meet with me 3 times in that year to share his testing results and thoroughly discuss their development, this helped to show the growth he had from the beginning, middle and end of the year and showed his readiness for Kindergarten! I'm confident that VCA helped him prepare for his Kindergarten year. VCA also learns through play. My children have always loved to attend school. All educators, even outside of my children's assigned class, know my children by name and are very professional. The communication is fantastic, you can always reach someone in the office. The app the teacher uses keeps us engaged on what the children are learning as well as another form of communication directly into the classroom teachers/assistants. You are always greeted everyday with a welcoming smile. We'll miss our VCA family as our second child wraps up her last year at VCA. Academically, both boys were extremely prepared for kindergarten and had a smooth transition. During their last year at Vanguard they prepared them to be more independent for kinder. The school is always impeccable and they have taken all measures to keep the children safe during COVID. We have made long life friends at VCA and have missed them very much! When a child first enters a daycare, they can be expected to get sick frequently, since their immune systems are weak and have not been previously exposed. Luckily for our family, this has been infrequent. I can also access the cameras at any time, and have been able to see what our children are up to. They typically do not get 'thinking time', but when they have I've always understood why. I also feel that my children are excelling and will be ready for grade school in no time.

She said that she told my daughter that we don't hit others and my daughter was looking at her waiting for food not knowing that she was being punished for that. Also, they broke my daughter's privacy when the teacher told the grandmother of the child that she hit accidentally on his forehead. The grandmother told me that she was very sad that my daughter hit his grandson; from that day, she started looking at my daughter in a mean way. The next day, I picked up my 10-month-old baby from the daycare, and I saw that she was being isolated from the other babies. I requested to have the web camera application to be installed on my phone since I was feeling already unsecured on my daughter's safety. The second day with the application on my phone, I was at work watching at my daughter from the daycare's web camera and I noticed that there was 1 teacher taking care of 5 to 6 babies. They went out of ratio when by the Department of Children and Families there are regulations that they should be 1 teacher per 4 babies. I also saw the bathroom door open and the toilet as well. The first thing that came into my mind was what if a baby like my daughter, crawls to the bathroom and tries to stand by the toilet and falls into it. As soon as I notify my concerns to the principle's assistant named Lizeth Velez, she told me that if they gave me access to see my daughter on the web cameras by my phone it was not to criticize the school. I told her that I thought I have the right to see my daughter since this application was being offered by the school. She said that the owner, principle of the school named Miss Cristi can just block the access for me to continue seeing my daughter by the cameras. It was already enough for me to take her unprofessional and unethical way of taking constructive criticism to better improve the safety of the children and therefore for their business. I immediately removed my daughter from this daycare. The teachers for 1 year old babies are very rough with them and as you as you come in to the daycare all you can hear is the children crying being unhappy with the treatment of the teachers. I picked up my daughter one day with a bruise on her face, I asked the teacher what happened and she said she didn't know. They do not do body checks on the babies or reports injuries that happens in the daycare. There are lots of negative things from this daycare. All I can say is that do not get foolish by the way the school looks or how clean it looks because what it matters the most is that your baby is being taking care of in an ethical manner and under the Florida statutes established for the daycares.

My children pay excellent attention and earn straight A's in every other subject, yet math yielded an F solely due to this wretched instruction. My son was an advanced honor roll student at his previous school, but this place tanked his record and cost him his accolades. To make matters worse, the music teacher, Ms. Natasha, treated my daughter with pure hostility. The staff only dropped their fake acts and confessed to the school's internal rot during the summer when I announced our departure. My daughter attended Open Valleys Academy when she was just a toddler, and to this day--now 8 years old--she still talks about the trauma she experienced there. One of the most upsetting incidents involved a teacher named Luz, who was aggressive and rough with the children. My daughter was picked up by the ear--an absolutely unacceptable and abusive act. When I brought this to the attention of the principal, Cristina, she acted as if it was just a "misunderstanding" and brushed it off. There was no accountability, no investigation, no concern. Just excuses. My daughter cried almost every morning before going to that place, and at the time, I didn't understand why. I thought it was normal separation anxiety. I had no idea she was enduring such mistreatment. One day, at only 3 years old, she tried repeatedly to ask the teacher to let her use the restroom. The teacher ignored her, too "busy" to care. My daughter ended up wetting herself. Instead of compassion or understanding, the teacher humiliated her--putting a diaper on her and placing her in the baby room for the rest of the day. That act alone traumatized her. Open Valleys Academy failed my child in the most fundamental way. They did not protect her. They did not care for her. They silenced and ignored her. And the administration, especially Cristina, chose to look the other way rather than confront the cruelty happening under their own roof. No child should have to go through what my daughter went through. No parent should have to live with the guilt of unknowingly sending their child into a harmful environment. Please--if you're considering this school, look deeper. Listen to your child. Trust your gut. I wish I had.
