My perspective more as a neighbor than a student. I love how they offer some interesting lectures to the public. I've been to a few insightful ones here. So, I went to the gym with my friends and got in with crocs. I didnt know you could not enter with crocs but the black bald guy told me that i could not and he gave me a pass for that day. Today, i tried to go again and went in with jeans because i had just got out of class and wanted to work on my upper body just for a bit until my other class started. I got in and got a locker and nobody but the black bald guy notices that i have jeans on and says that I cannot work out with jeans. This frustrated me because why are you always looking at me when im trying to workout? Honestly, I think he has a problem with me because he's always looking at me and makes me feel uncomfortable. He's a weird guy bro. And obviously if you guys were to hang the sign up people would totally look at the sign and acknowledge it but no the sign is down and nobody is going to look down. MDC is a wonderful community resource, whether you're taking a first step towards college or like in my case upgrading some skills and working on continuing education hours. For the specific course I needed to take, it's certainly a bargain compared to the other schools offering a course in the software I needed to learn. Oh, and by the way, those schools were charging for an online only program. At least MDC offered the class hands on. I signed up for a two-course series. The computer lab had the current version of the software, and the computers were new. The first day of class there was a small glitch with the projector and smart board though. It does help if you speak Spanish because, especially as a first step school, some instructors and fellow students will prefer to speak in that language. I have no issues with that as I'm partly tri-lingual. read more

Since I enrolled I had the worst experience of my life with all departments. Throughout my time spent (wasted) with MDC, things didn't go from bad to worse, they were the absolute worst from the very beginning and they just continued to be so. I cannot begin to express the level of frustration and exhaustion that I am at and what MDC has caused me. The whole entire time I've been a student at MDC, I worked non-stop, for free - doing MDC's job, instead of focusing on studying as I should have - being a student should have been my only concern and focus, not babysitting MDC - which turned put to be my business after enrolling and my only activity as well, day in and day out. Unfortunately, because nothing works at this institution I had to literally BABYSIT the college the whole entire time. I would go by in person every other day to address issues and ask questions and try to get help with just about everything that they as a college do not take care of properly and that staff is completely incapable to figure out. Please see how even the most basic things would go down at this place: eg. getting a ticket to wait in line is big problem for MDC because they close it in the system supposedly by mistake and I would be sitting there hours waiting. By the time I checked with them they didn't have me in the system and I had to get the ticket again. This would happen on a daily basis like is a normal thing! They also decide all of a sudden that they will not attend nobody anymore after I waited in there forever. Whenever I would have to show up in person again I would waste a whole entire day and you can guess I wouldn't get anything done because the staff is terrible and impossible. I have addressed these things whenever I could and nobody cares to do absolutely anything about it. Not to mention MDC has all kinds of students working there(as staff) that have no idea what people are asking them and are in no capacity to help so we the students are wasting our time showing up in person and trying to fix issues. I have been sitting so many times in that lobby waiting and all the advisors were literally alone at their desk doing nothing but they would not attend me still, can you imagine that? And I've been there so many times that no matter how much I would excuse them in my head to justify what was always going on in there, this is just a mad house - things just become very clear at some point because of the patterns that are clearly forming after so many times of witnessing the same things. That place is so rotten from within. This was just a small example to illustrate one aspect of the situation as there is not enough time to expand that much in writing. Sitting down with MDC staff is another circus. They are reluctant, standoffish, and straight forward would do (actually refuse to do) anything to get rid of you - like every mind game there is. The level of push back you get in there is quite incredible. Simply put they are ironic/sarcastic and they make you feel uncomfortable. No question is welcomed or encouraged. And the absolute worst part is that one has to put up with that and still not get anything done; mind blowing! Needless to say that things keep pilling up unresolved, plenty of questions unanswered, lack of guidance, refusal to assist and absence of customer service/help/empathy, but at the end of the day is simply put - they do not do their jobs - at MDC nobody cares. When reaching out in writing they do not answer back. Upon insisting, they mislead you on purpose, gaslight and never get back again. It is a full time job having to deal with absolutely everything. The first semester i didn't have an advisor at all, I couldn't convince anyone to assign me one, although I asked several times and even towards the end they would just say that is normal not to have one, that they will assign at some point someone. When it finally happened, the advisor I was assigned was the most incompetent, terrible person you ll ever meet. All she does is plain gaslighting and refuses to do her job - PERIOD! When I needed help signing up for classes she straight gaslighted me and literally refused to assist me with no matter how many times I asked her to and in how many ways. When I finally got someone (virtually) to help me, that person noticed who my advisor was and brought her over on zoom to talk to me, otherwise she wouldn't have wanted to help me EVER, without someone catching her and pushing her. I need a serious advisor that I can speak to and sort some things out and I reached out and I asked so many people/staff/employees etc from the higher up and nothing was ever done. No matter who is contacted in this institution, the result is the same: nobody cares and I am just wasting my time and my energy over and over again to no avail. She went out of her duties to assist me. She is an angel!!! It was a labor day weekend, The campus was closed. I thought my class started on that day. she went an extra mile just for me. Today I had such a good time at the Miami Dade Wolfson campus here in downtown Miami. As in Miami Dade college student, ​I park​ed​ for free ​thanks to the decal I have on my car, as soon as you enter the door ​it open automatically​.​ I notice​d that t​his is an old building but it's well-maintained. The restrooms were impeccable, yes they're not new, but they were extremely clean. This was my son's & I first visit at the Wolfson Campus. At first I was hesitant as I thought parking and traffic was going to be a nightmare but it wasn't. I drove there and traffic was not that bad, parking garage was located next to one of the college's building($4.00; however, something went wrong with my parking ticket and I ended up paying $12.00). Because we were new at this campus we got lost and had to ask for directions to the new MAGIC complex(animation and gaming). People were very nice, the atmosphere was lively, high school kids walking around happy, single breakfast, playing musical instruments, painted faces. I think there is a dual studies program there and I guess that is why so many young kids were in that area. Anyhow, we saw the advisors & counselors that we needed to see and everything went smoothly. Looking forward to my son attending classes here in the near future. read more

if I could give this school, zero stars I would. I was taking an online course and the teacher was from the school my boyfriend and I were doing the class together but the professor that we were taking who's name is Melissa grossman realized that we were together, and from the moment she realized that we were together, she discriminated against us, any chance she got it and decide to fail us, even though she had no evidence of us cheating, which by the way we did not do. And when we decided to dispute the grade, we told the department of English and communications everything that had happened this professor did not only discriminate against us just for being in a relationship, but she was also racist, and made fun of the religion of Christianity as well as the Bible. She also treated the black students in her classroom with a lot of respect, but she showed no respect to any of the other students, especially the Latin girls when I brought all of these concerns to the department of English and communications they did nothing; not only did they not change my grade even though the professor had no evidence every time we called to get an update. There was always an excuse such as this person's not here or we're closed today. Call back tomorrow. Will call you back later and so on they also didn't do anything to the professor. She is still currently teaching there, they did not listen to my concerns and they did not help me whatsoever. I also took another class with a professor who was just as bad. if you're in miami dade college go to literally any other campus except this one this one is by far the worst, because I never had any experience quite like this one at any of the other campuses. read more

We saw the musical pirates of the Penzance in building 1 on the second floor. The students did a great job with the musical. I read the synopsis and did some research ahead of time. I find this makes the whole experience more enjoyable. While all the voices were wonderful in my non expert opinion the characters, Ruth, Mabel and the Pirate King stole the show but the General had a difficult part and did a phenomenal job. The amount of lines he had to remember and site at a quick pace was substantial. All the students did a wonderful job in parking, greeting and directing us. In my life time I have enjoyed my experiences way more at Universities and Colleges then professional ones. It's more close and personal. read more

I came by Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus because I was visiting and attending the Miami Book Fair International. This book fair is held annually at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus and had been since I attended years ago when I went to Miami Dade College Wolfson from 2001 to 2003. Back then I attended Miami Dade College when I was there as part of the High School I was enrolled in called the School for Advanced Studies (SAS). For those of you unfamiliar with SAS, it is a Miami Dade Public High School which is located in various different Miami Dade College Campuses including the Wolfson Campus. It was and I am sure still is an amazing high school which allowed me to take college courses in the morning and then advanced placement high school courses in the afternoon. I didn't not need to be bused back to a high school like a normal dual-enrollment program as the high school is located inside Miami Dade College. If you have a son or daughter who are in 9th or 10th grade, then check out the program. When I graduated from SAS I had 55 college credits.... just shy of an associates degree. It is an extraordinary opportunity to be able to receive an associates degree out of college or transfer to a four year university almost as a junior... especially when you consider that the most expensive classes and books in a four year degree are the classes in your first two years. I've been coming to this college for years and there's a reason I'm only giving it three stars. It's not bad and just ok but has a lot of potential to be a great college at a five star level in the future. The parking is a nightmare which I've actually written an essay about, I feel like I'm in high school still, and they're not the most professional with their staff. I'm not talking about the professors I'm talking about the people that work in the offices namely administration and registration. My advisor Tony Chapman is excellent and he really takes care of the veterans. They moved the school gym from the 6th floor of building 8 to the first in building 7. Common sense dictates you should put a gym on the first floor originally right? That's an example of why I'm giving 3 stars. Most professors are really good and I'm getting my education so I can't complain. The countless problems I've had certifying as a veteran the past couple of semesters without any responses to my emails have been awful. Tekesha Serrano is horrible taking care of veterans. I wish their registration and certification process was much much smoother. All in all an average community college. I recommend coming here for a couple years then moving on add soon as possible to a real university. read more

I'm going to tell my story about how Much I regret to choose Miami Dade College as my school. At this time the Dean from the Science Department at the Wolfson Campus denied to see me and the person in Charge Laura gave me a lame excuse early in the morning. Which means that regardless of the error that they committed with my Grade I have to wait patiently until they change it . This is the email that I send to the Dean today at 10:45 am and she never gets back to me. Here is what happened My name is Iris Hernandez Rodriguez I'm sending this email because on July 31 of 2021 while I was looking for my grades of my summer classes I noticed that the professor (Brandi Vanklompenber / Brandi Diaz)from my psychology class (PSY 2012) gave me a B as a grade instead of an A. As soon as I noticed I send her an Email because I knew that my grade was an A . She replied to me on Sunday 1 recognizing her mistake . Unfortunately she got confused with her roster and gave my grade to another student that has the same last name as me (HERNANDEZ). On Tuesday 3 of August I went back to check my grade and the B was still there and I decided to send her another email in which she never responded. On Wednesday 4 of August I copy and paste the same Email and I send it again to her and it was when she responded telling me that she already request the changes. On the same date y tried to contact the department in charge of this changes and the lady who process this type of request was in a meeting. On Thursday 5 I contacted again the department and talked to Laura and she told me that she processed the petition and by this week the A would be there. Unfortunately , my grade has not being change by today August 11 . The point of this is that I was accepted in a program that will start on August 30 and that School is asking for my Transcripts in order to calculate my final GPA . If I don't send this information by tomorrow or Friday before 10 am I will lose the scholarship that they gave me and even worse the semester. Interamerican campus: Look dude, I get that we are in Miami and there are going to be a lot of Spanish speaking folks out there trying to get an education. HOWEVER, teacher should NOT teach a class in Spanish! How are these people ever going to adapt to a new country??? And to those that say they don't have to, you're wrong!!! Wolfson Campus: I like you. I've had very good teachers in Wolfson. So, that's why you're getting the two stars. Kendall Campus: You aren't so bad either. Everyone I've dealt with at the Kendall Campus has been helpful. West Campus: The advisors suck at any location, and this one is no exception. Other than that, the staff were helpful. I think MDC is in a period of going from strength-to-strength. It is clear that there has been a recent and concerted effort to make the college at once more accessible, and to also make it more academically rigorous and respected. Given the increase in population in the southern counties, MDC is a great resource for people to get a quality education at a reasonable price, especially if your goal is a 4-year degree. The "Pathway" degree programs at MDC are excellent, getting you all you need for 2 of 4 years required toward a Bachelor's Degree. All at a bargain price, and easily transferrable anywhere in the Florida State university system (and beyond, with varying requirements). There are 3 issues: 1. The instructors are not universally good, although quite a few I've encountered are outstanding. The best instructors are there because they care about being educators, and are excellent. They are there because they want to be, because most instructors are 'Adjunct Professors' and are paid very poorly. Finding out who a good instructor (and it won't be the one who gives the least homework or easiest projects) is key to getting the most out of the experience. Paying more for more consistent quality instruction is the ultimate answer. For now, find out a bit about who's teaching a class before final enrollment. It makes a difference. 2. Some of the students seem to be there because their parents might otherwise might make them get a job. If you're doing a project and it's clear your fellow-student doesn't care, drop them. Don't let your grade suffer because someone else isn't dedicated to getting the education being offered. You're there for an education, so do yourself a favor and get the most out of it by hanging with others of the same mindset. 3. There isn't enough monitoring that a) the instructors are following department guidelines on course curriculum and b) teaching effectively. There should be more academic monitoring of instructors. As I've said, some are excellent. But others should be taking the class, not teaching it. read more

Location is great, now that downtown is going through it's renaissance. Plenty of great restaurants to eat at close by, the main library to study at (I haven't even found the school library yet). That's where the good news ends. The campus is small enough that they feel they don't need to erect campus maps with those "you are here" arrows...so you end up wandering around, looking for a building 5 that is two blocks away, and is a high school!? At least there is a gym...but the showers require crossing the quad and leaving your i.d. with security. Lockers are there. And once again, showers are ice cold. Also like Medical campus, bike parking is a joke. I was warned there were a lot of bikes stolen from the students lot. This was after I had already parked in the faculty and staff lot, which had the nice shelter (it was going to be a rainy day, and cycling with wet ass sucks ass). First fucking day, and some asshat crashes through the metal (no, not chain link) fence, and into the shelter's support. I come out of my first day of classes to find my bike locked up amidst carnage of twisted metal and yellow tape. The support narrowly missed my bike. Theft here is awful, and security's full time job is keeping the homeless people from sleeping on campus benches (bus stop shelter is where they end up taking refuge. Yet another strike against using public transit), or hogging the handicapped toilet stalls (BTW, bathrooms are a bloody disaster. I mean *literally* bloody. As in the "oh, look there's a used tampon on the floor" bloody). Stick with Kendall or North. Way more emenities, and a lot less piss-stained panhandlers. read more

I was suspended by Jaime Anzalotta, the dean at Wolfson campus MDC. He lied to me and security about the sequence of events that composed of my suspension. He told them I was suspended and when they got me to see him he told me I wasn't. He was trying to play mind games with me and security. He said to me, "I've got witnesses." when I told him he was lying about my suspension. He only deliberated for three days before penalizing me for a year. I complained about this guy to human resources after the campus president ignored my appeal of the suspension. I have almost straight A's. I was suspended for making noise, disrupting a school activity for an incident during registration. One of the employees, the director of registration and admissions, just got up and walked away from me. I told him he should get fired and some employee reported me for it. Its been about 5 months since this happened and now I'm dealing with other schools in Florida, I just got done with Broward and now I'm at Palm Beach State College. They all do something like this, ignoring students and using simple computer technicalities to delay and distract you from getting out of school. It amazes me to the extent that some of these employees take it to. They seem to believe that they can't let a single person get through the system. Whenever they are communicating to you through the phone or a computer they don't take you seriously, because computers and phones are being used by people behind them to be lazy and have a laugh. They can hide and blame the computer or you for being wrong. read more

Miami-Dade College.... 2.5 stars. They offer great prices for education and have a selection of okay teachers (depending on who we are talking about) at different times of the week to cater to different people's schedules, making me a fan although I will always be a Canes fan at heart. While I do appreciate a good $300 something class, I do have to point out that the Wolfson campus' amenities could definitely be improved. I detest the parking garage because sometimes parking tends to be tight, and I hate having to put my car on brake during incline while others maneuver up the garage. It makes me feel like I am going to slip down and hit a few cars on my way. Some of the buildings also seem dirty, such as the science building where I took my anatomy class. This place is a gem though for those who rely mainly on public transportation because the metro stop is outside one of the buildings. If you drive, make sure you get your parking decal because I recall one time where I was denied access to the garage because I forgot to pick up mine at the beginning of the year and was nearly late for my quiz. The administration doesn't play around with you missing your parking decals here apparently. Five stars to their Kendall location, three stars to their medical campus, and if I could give them a 2.5 I would for Wolfson because although things are good, they could be better here. read more

You know who I'm taking about. The girl with the happy smile and the chef with the Checkerboard pants who's always cold and calculating...Those people are like Hollywood Household Faces to most of Miami it seems like, considering all the MDC stickers I see, driving my car. The Pulled Pork with Pico, Black Beans and Rice was phenomenal. What a tremendous work of culinary art! There's no place in the entire city better than MDC. The Chicken wings are the best. I've been to a few Miami Dade College campuses and Wolfson has to be my favorite. You get the Miami city vibe while you're there. The gym is best Miami Dade College I have been to. You have more options to get a bite to eat if you have a long break in between classes. If it is a long drive for you, you can take the metro which is what I've done my first semester there. The school does give out metro tickets for students, but you need to purchase a new one very month. read more

I hate MDC! Their staff are a bunch of incompetent idiots doing work-study programs. They are poorly trained. It takes them weeks to register simple stuff under your file or at least acknowledge the documents you submit for review. I had many problems before to enroll, to get financial aid, and now, with the transcripts department. I want to leave the worst college in the world, but for me to do so I have to finish my AA. Guess what? I have finished my AA already by taking my last credits needed through CLEP examination; I passed the test. Now, I just called after 2 weeks of taking the test in their facilities, and found out that it takes another 2-3weeks for the credits to be posted. RIDICULOUS! I transferred from Valencia College from Orlando. I made a mistake. All teachers are different so I can't really say anything about the teachers. But when it comes to Chemistry tutoring, good luck. You're on your own. I was spoiled by Valencia's tutors, they were always ready to help you and knew their stuff. I literally spent the entire day at Wolfson campus trying to get chemistry tutoring for lecture and lab. My teacher is only part time and does not come to campus unless she's teaching, and she teaches my lab once a week. No one on campus knew how to help me with my questions. I then went to the lab, knocked on the door and luckily I found a random chemistry lab teacher willing to help me. When she tried explaining it to me, it was hard to understand her because of her broken English. And when I did understand her, she was explaining something I already knew, and I had to keep going back to asking the same questions, which finally she understood my English enough to answer, but then her answer was "just google it". I cannot believe I paid for such poor educators. I'm on my own with no help, I guess it's time to pick up some shifts at work to spend more money on a tutor. read more

This rating is in regards to the bookstore and it is not the first time I've had a problem with them. It's very frustrating when you have to deal with a disloyal staff. Although I have a wolfson ID, I take classes online. I commuted two hours on bus through the rain to purchase a bus pass prepaid. I made sure to call beforehand and ask whether next month's bus pass was available. The employee who I spoke to over the phone explained they didn't and they will offer a pre paid option. I would just have to keep my receipt and pick it up Monday. So I made my way down to wolfson campus. First thing I asked the employee at the front of the store was the same thing I asked over the phone and she claimed the same exact statement "pre paid option available." I waited in line for about 30 minutes. Once I got to the register I requested what I wanted and they said they weren't doing the prepaid option because the bus pass will be available the next day. The fact they said one thing the whole morning before I got there and didn't honor it was just one of my worst experiences. It should have been honored regardless whether they were going to sell the next day or not. I didn't bother to ask for a manager because I would have caused a scene and with a whole bunch of students purchasing books and how busy It was . I really didn't want to go through with it. Speaking about the Spanish 101 class taken here, not the school itself. But it was the only class I enrolled in here and my experience is based on that. Awful. Just awful. 90% of the people in the class already speak fluent Spanish and are using this class as an elective/easy A. read more

Horrible faculty staff..Delayed reactions to transcripts request ... Most unprofessional help ever

Miami dade college is garbage, sadly I am currently still enrolled there as they are the only people who offer the program I seek. Their faculty and customer service has got to be the worst in all Florida. They treat their students terribly, they do not care about the students. They mostly care about the money. They are thieves. I was recently misadvised by one of their terrible advisors and I had to drop classes which I later after they got my hopes up saying they would forgive me they made me pay the dues for all the classes. Later they accidentally refunded me more money because of they're terrible management system sent me extra money a few days later. After they asked for the money back they asked for an additional 50$ more which I know isn't much but they asked for it. All their campuses are dirty and never maintained. The teachers are for the most part pretty dumb and boring. If Yelp would allow me to give it zero stars I would but sadly they won't. read more

I attended MDC Wolfson from 2003-2005, earning my associate's degree in 2005 and transferring to FIU that same year. I have to say that my experience at Wolfson was far superior to the one I had at FIU. Many people feel that attending classes at MDC is very much like being in high school. (In other words, you miss out on the "college experience.") My experience was nothing like that because I graduated from The Honors College, a program that offers rigorous courses and activities for academically-driven students who maintain a certain GPA. Joining was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life -- not only was tuition free, but I made great friendships, learned from outstanding professors, and had the opportunity to partake in a slew of enriching activities. I see the fact that the campus is small as a benefit rather than a hindrance. With smaller classes, it's far easier to build good relationships with peers and instructors, both of whom will actually know you by name. This stands in stark contrast to FIU, which is like a city of its own. Granted, the campus is clean and beautiful, but because of its sheer size, FIU lacks the intimacy of a community college. At FIU, you just get lost in the stuffle. (It might be a different story when it comes to their Honors College, but I wouldn't know because I never joined that one.) I can't think of any cons. If college to you means football games and big concerts, you are better off going to UM or FIU. Naturally, FIU also offers more courses, but that's no reason to discount MDC if you're already open to getting an associate's. In sum, MDC offers myriad benefits over a university: - more intimate - less walking - easier to find parking - less crowded - smaller classes - easier to build relationships with professors and colleagues - cheaper I loved MDC so much that I hope to have the chance to work there some day. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. And if you meet the qualifications, apply for The Honors College. You won't regret it! read more

I was "accidentally" blocked from accessing my online class at a key time where I had a short amount of time to submit work before a deadline. At the time I was unblocked I was left with a short amount of hours during the weekend, this amount of time was not enough to complete the segment and left me with a negative grade. I reached out multiple times to the instructor to ask for a solution, I received emails stating that she (the instructor) will call me yet I waited and waited for the call and never got it. I emailed multiple times to receive a similar response from the instructor; "I will call you" yet again I never received a call. I managed to find the instructors phone number and I called her, at this time speaking with the instructor she pointed out that I had missed yet another segment (the time I waited for the call I was promised yet never received) at this time the instructor expressed she would not help me because it would be unfair to other students, even though this whole situation was because she "accidentally" blocked my access and then never contacted me even though she stated she would various times. Avoid this place, its not a college. Go to Broward College or somewhere else. read more

Being a MDC Virtual Campus student is horrible. Your main campus off-site is considered wolfson but you can go to any campus for any outside sources you need. Virtual college doesn't have a financial aid so you have to go on-site. I usually go to homestead or wolfson because there tend to be less students. This school isn't like others. You have to ask if you want every individual thing. Financial aid isn't connected like it usually is which I found kind of odd. (kind of difficult to explain but when you have this problem you'll realize what I'm saying). As far as advisors the virtual college advisors recommend you to go on site a lot of times because there are certain things they cant do. The onsite advisors that I've dealt with have been horrible sending you everywhere when many things can be done with a phone call or simple computer search. Also they take a lot of breaks to eat several lunches or to make friendly conversations with associates. I got lucky once thankfully. I'm almost done completing my AA and now I had a really horrible teacher experience. I got dropped from a class after drop and add because a teacher overlooked my discussion board response. Since the teacher refused to speak to me, I am going to have to pay $600 out of my pocket before I can finish up. I figure If I don't decide to get this AA I'll just pay the $600, go to another school for nursing or computer engineering. My MDC experience. Best of luck. read more

Wolfson is the nicest campus Miami Dade College has, in my opinion. Right across from the American Airlines Arena. Just traffic sucks over there, if you dont have a sun pas, unless you live near by it. Definetly need somebody to tell help you find your class because the buildings are scattered. Youll understand it after your first semester there. read more
