Red and Green salsas available

Went with a party of six to this new Mexican restaurant. The place is clean and nicely decorated. Mexican Music was playing and the vibe felt good. We met the owner who is a nice young lady. We ordered several dishes. The food was excellent. See the plates I posted in the photos section. All the dishes were beautifully presented. A limited variety of beers are available. Service was surprisingly quick even though it was just the owner in the front greeting and serving everyone. Complimentary chips are provided. The owner is still perfecting her carne asada and is open to any suggestions to create a restaurant that people can bring families and friends to for many years. I will definitely return to try their other dishes.

My rice burrito...with a hint of beans and a strip of meat.

First time here. I really wanted to try this place out and since I was passing by I went ahead. I ordered a burrito al pastor and a very expensive Jamaica. I clearly told the girl no rice and she laughed and said "we don't put rice in our burritos" like really your menu description says it includes rice Got my order and went on. When I got home guess what, my burrito had alot of rice, some beans and a strip of meat Not worth the $15 I paid for. What pisses me off more is that the girl who took my order laughed like it was funny or I was telling a joke or something. Never again will I go to this place. Overpriced for what you get as well as they dont even know what their menu says and definitely dont pay attention to the customers order. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone in the future...

Gosh. I really, really wanted to love this place. It's very close to home and the decor is great. The servers are attentive and they place salsa with chips right away. The menu items are very varied and look delicious. And that's where the positive ends. I ordered a BirriaRamen. My family had a burrito, chilaquiles and taco plate. My broth was very oily and lacked flavor. One of the women there came out after our food was put on the table and started spraying Lysol spray like in our table height all around. A man at another table walked out to get a breath of fresh air. It was nauseating. I really tried but I'm gonna have to say never again. Points for the place looking nice but missing out on plain courtesy. She could have sprayed when the place was empty or not sprayed at all. Why? She never said anything. She just sprayed and went back to the kitchen.

Slow service waited over 30 minutes for a menu. Once we received our food, it had no flavor. Took a couple of bites and left.

Very bland food. Extra seasonings will definitely help. Pastries on the bakery side tasted days old.

I ended up ordering a hibiscus margarita instead, and honestly, it was amazing. I also ordered the green chicken enchiladas, which were super yummy, filling, and probably my favorite part of the meal. I ordered a second hibiscus margarita, same as the first, but it came on the rocks instead of blended like I had originally requested. We were there for about two hours just enjoying good conversation, food, and drinks, so overall we were having a nice time. Unfortunately, things got frustrating when the checks came. Our waitress didn't seem to know how to split the bill based on who ordered what, which I found odd since we had the same waitress the entire time. We explained how we wanted everything split, and she still got it wrong. In the end, my friend and I had to sit there and figure out all the math ourselves. Then, while we were gathering our things and getting ready to leave, the waitress kept walking around us and looking over at us. It honestly made us feel like we were being watched. When I pulled out cash to leave a tip, she continued looking at the money, almost as if she was watching to see how much I was going to leave. After already paying, it was just really uncomfortable and awkward. I probably wouldn't have left a tip at all based on the service, but I'm not that cold, so I did leave one. Unfortunately, I honestly don't feel like the service earned it. The food and margarita were good, but the service issues definitely put a damper on the experience. And seriously... who runs out of champagne by noon?!

Glen Bell, before Taco Bell was even a thing, had his burger stand right across the street and became a regular at Mitla. He ended up learning how they made their tacos, and the rest is history. Now let's talk about why I came. Those crispy tacos are SO good. That crunch, the seasoned meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato... everything just works. And I can never pass up a Carta Blanca . They also give you that little complimentary bowl of chile con carne, and let me tell you, that chile was delicious! The service was great, everyone was friendly, and the whole place just has a really good vibe. You can feel that old-school San Bernardino charm as soon as you walk in. Definitely one of those spots that makes you want to sit back, enjoy your food and take in the experience.

The salsa and warm chips were a wonderful start to the meal while we waited to place our order. I had combination #2 to try the hard shell taco (reportedly the inspiration for Taco Bell's), the chicken enchilada, and tamale. This was a delicious plate that brought a smile to my face and the horchata was also excellent. Service was a bit slow (very busy), but extremely friendly. If you're cruising Route 66 or out this way for any reason, give Mitla's a try! Pro tip: if you can't find street parking, they have a lot on the street by their south side.
