Skip it. Service is ehh and food is bland. Try something with a bit more local flare.

Went here for a team dinner while in MS for work…read more It's a small Mexican/Honduran restaurant with colorful decor, pretty good parking, and decent hours. The service was ok, and the staff were friendly, but it was definitely not amazing and was quite slow. I had to ask 3 different people to bring me the sour cream that I ordered as well as lemons, and the tomatillo sauce that was given (it's in refillable bottles) was empty so I had to ask for another after they walked away. Now to the food. I got the supreme enchiladas order which comes with 1 chicken, 1 beef, 1 cheese, and 1 bean enchilada with lettuce, guacamole, tomatoes, and cheese on top. The enchiladas were small, and the ingredients fresh, but the flavor was extremely bland, which was surprising for a Mexican restaurant. I mean, I could have had a more flavorful meal at Taco Bell. I ordered rice and refried beans on the side, and while the rice was decent, but nothing to write home about, the beans tasted metallic or artificial like it had been just scooped out of a can; it was not edible. TLDR: I'm giving 2 stars because the people were friendly and were trying hard, and the prices were really cheap (like $11 for my meal without the extras) but the food is just bland, even if the ingredients are fresh.

Great food. Great salsa. Have been 2 times now and will definitely come back. Service is friendly…read moreand fast

And La Fiesta made me think, maybe more of these places are actually good Mexican food, but they cater to the clientele. Because I read through the whole menu, through various feature dishes and specialties, and finally the chef's specials on the back page. And peppered throughout, I found hints of the real thing. I ended up getting #67 - four assorted tacos with different meats, I chose flour tortilla. They came out super authentic, delicious, loaded with meat. Wonderful variety of flavors. The side of guac I asked for was packed, great consistency, mostly avocado - because yes, I've had it runny and full of cucumbers or onions etc. This was real Mexican food, and I think it's a mindset "if someone wants to order our authentic specialties, that's great. If not, they'll get the American foods we know how to prepare." Not much else - service was friendly enough, place was rather sparse both in decor (at least no overdone Mexickitsch) and attendance but I get that it's Sunday night, and most other places were closed. I gather that's a Sunday thing in the South, and I'm grateful I found and chose La Fiesta over anything else that might have let me in.

We discovered it on our drive up to Tuscaloosa. I ate a chimichanga with rice and a good helping of chips and queso. The service was good and I like the general feel of the restaurant with fun paintings on the wall that made for a nice ambiance.
