The 9 tax returns Ryan prepares for me each year include personal returns, trust returns (real estate trusts), and out of state returns. A very complex tax situation which Ryan and his staff have handled very well. One of Ryan's biggest strengths is his flexibility in making my part of the tax return effort as easy as possible. For example, he purchased the version of Quicken which I use so that I can now just give him my Quicken file each year and he can pick out the expenses which must go on the returns. I do not therefore have to go to the time and effort of transferring data from my Quicken files to Ryan (or to his Tax Organizer). Ryan also acts as an agent to help me and my sister with work relating to out of state real estate in several trusts. The only reason I went to H&R Block was because they were 60% less than the real business tax accountant that had been recommended to me. My wife and I had used this H&R store a few times for our personal taxes, with moderate results, but it turns out that business taxes are another game altogether. It was time consuming, and I don't fault the guy that worked with me; he tried as best he could to get through all the paperwork, forms, and on and on. I'll go with the proper tax accounting company next year. More activity on my side, and risking an audit just isn't worth it to save a few hundred bucks. Lesson learned.

Though I had many recommendations and referrals for other accountants, I chose to work with Rose because I chose to specifically support a woman and minority owned business. One piece of advice from Erin Benzakein from Floret about hiring a bookkeeper and accountant was that if you feel dumb or awful after meeting with either, then it's time for you to hire a new accountant/bookkeeper. I was having a hard time managing my own bookkeeping and was inquiring about this service. I met with Tara and she was condescending, defensive, and was gaslighting me when I started crying on the call after she went on a diatribe about the importance of bookkeeping. I also disagreed with her statement that "Bookkeeping is the backbone of your business." Unfortunately, Rose was also on the call and there wasn't any intervention.
