For those not in the know, WKRP used to be an old sitcom from the late 70's-80's about a radio station in Cincinnati. The shop is located on the 2nd floor of the historic art deco style Carew Tower. This tower is also home to the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland. The interior although grand was sparsely occupied by businesses. Ghost town vibes for sure however the grand architecture within the building is worth walking around in. The only difficulty we had was finding parking. This shop is in the downtown area and parking spaces are hard to come by. My husband ended up driving around and picked me up when I finished shopping.

Meghan hand makes Anthropology's famous Volcano candles in a variety of adorable containers, at a fraction of the cost! Most importantly, Meghan uses her shop to help our community. She does sip'n shops for our schools, where a portion of the sales for that day are donated to the school. On small business Saturday, a portion of the sales are donated to a local food pantry. Just imagine: a cool vintage bier sign to adorn your exposed brick loft's walls. Deerhaus also has cool letterpress items (birthday cards, etc), soaps, plants, socks - you get the idea. Deerhaus and the other OTR home stores make me pray each night to have a bigger budget (which, let's face it I'll never have because this boy likes to imbibe and do downtown fine dining way too much). Have…read more LASERS!!! *wink* FIRST OFF -- can we acknowledge how Lucca's *not only* woman-owned, but also celebrates that women can be manufacturing engineers, designers, and successful businesspeople?! It was really cool to read about the owner's past experiences in her father's machine shop that inspired her to take everything on. That being said, I am a sucker for Art Deco/geometric design aesthetic, and Lucca is swimming in zigzags and sunbursts. They have an assortment of laser engraved wooden items - kitchen utensils, cutting boards; a mix of gift items - engraved greeting cards, customizable paper cards; and some really stunning home goods items. Some of my favorites were the engraved furniture - still trying to think of a way to make it work at home. I'm loving the trend of woman-owned businesses popping up in Cincinnati ... especially when they showcase careers in math, science, engineering.
