The Staff at the Duncannon location are Amazing! I was planning an event for up to 100 guests, and…read morechoose Karns to cater the event. It was the perfect choice! It was a bit pricey, but as my wise Dad always said, "You get what you pay for". FELICIA, in the Deli, made 8 trays of wraps freshly on Saturday morning, even though my pick up time was for 8:30am! Loaded with meat, veggies and Pickles(!) kept the wraps moist and flavorful, not needing any additional condiments! THEY WERE DELICIOUS! And the Fruit Tray, WOW! I also selected Two "Condiment Platters", a variety of pickles, olives and cherry peppers combined with Two ,"PA meat and Cheese Lovers Platter" with ring Bologna, Lebanon Bologna, several varieties of cheese accompanied with a wonderful dipping mustard! Both were totally Loaded, and were thoroughly enjoyed! Enter DONNA, in Bakery, she prepared 3 trays of the "Cookie Lovers Favorites"... the trays were Loaded! All of the cookies were freshly baked, had great variety And were Delicious! Many of the guests believed that I had catered this event, I corrected each of them by saying, "No! KARNS DID!" They were shocked! And IMPRESSED! Then!, Lindsey (mngr!), Andy (dist. mngr!) and Colby, skillfully loaded everything into my car!! Thank You to the Staff of DUNCANNON KARNS for making this event So Easy for Me!!!

The woman behind the counter was very nice, as was the cashier! It's a small space, but there is much to see! The prices are very good and I left with snacks, some farmers cheese (that my husband loves), and other goodies. I am looking forward to visiting again when I come back to the area!

There's a lunch nook near the deli counter, fresh baked goods (as you can see our crowd quickly wolfed down donuts even after pie at Bread of Life), and so many unique items, it's a pleasure just to stroll the aisles and see what you just might "need." Socks with pigs? They have them. NOW natural products a plenty. Squirrel puppets. Racks of snacks. All kinds of flour, sugars, and bulk goods, too. And of course meats and cheeses. You may spend too much but you'll have fun doing it. Oink oink.

I have problems with the cold and my hands with my CRPS but being shown where to look for Christmas steaks did cut down my freezer time. The guy offered to help me to my van, I have crutches, but my daughter was able to carry the amount we had. I think a sign near the main road would be helpful. It was my first time being there and I wasn't sure I was on the correct road at one point. Haven't eaten the meat yet but it looked good.

Apparently there are no firm plans to rebuild a permanent edifice to replace the one that burned down. So for now we will take what we can get! It would be such a shame if this legendary local treasure ever closed up for good. There is a restaurant, craft shop, and grocery/deli. I visited the latter two on my recent trip to central PA. You will still find the same types of products as before, but quantity and selection are reduced due to the size of the space. In particular, the meat case and bulk goods are a small proportion of their former glories. The good news is that the bakery still sells chocolate whoopie pies and apple moon pies--the only kinds that there should be. Weirdo versions such as peanut butter whoopie pies and peach moon pies are offered as well, but why bother when you can get the real thing. The craft store is a bit smaller than previously, but still stocks a great range of, um, crafts. Things like tea towels and trivets and table runners, Christmas tree ornaments, candle holders, various porch decorations, and all sorts of other knick-knacks. There are even some locally produced goods such as aromatic soy candles by Brick Arch and gorgeous-smelling soaps from Shade Mountain Naturals. It's important to buy local, especially in small towns. We happened to be there on "Black Friday" (such as it is in Big Valley), and the craft shop was sampling cookies and dips from the deli. And by "sampling" I mean that there were two large trays put out in just the time that I was there. Mmm, generous and delicious. I'm not sure why Yelp created a second listing, but everything that I said about the old location is still worth reading, if only for nostalgia's sake. http://www.yelp.com/biz/peachey-a-j-and-sons-belleville
