Anywhere else I paid with big bills the person just passed a marker on the bill, checked it in the light and that was it. Not here ... it was like they have never seen one before. 3 employees looked at it for minutes and decided to call the manager to check it. After an embarrassing 15 minutes of waiting in line for the manager to come, he finally decided to show up, took a marker and passed it on the bill and what a wonder: it's a good one. I asked him if he was the only one qualified to pass a marker on the 100$ bill to check it and he said yes, "only management" can do it. Well, I guess he is very proud of himself, the test he had to pass to be "qualified" for this operation must have been veeeeery difficult! Hold on tight on that marker Mr. Manager, you are so qualified to do it! As for me, I guess that was the last time I am going to Winners in Fairview!

Dropped by this Dollarama as I was in the area and the Dollarama that I had visited earlier in the…read moreweek didn't have the large liquid hand soap refill bottles in stock which I was searching to buy. The Dollarama is located in a parking mall and it opens at 9:00am. I showed up a few minutes after 9:00am and there wasn't a line to go in. Once I entered, I was advised to (try to) respect the arrows for the aisle direction. The person at the door also put some hand sanitizer in my hands. This Dollarama was somewhat larger than some other Dollaramas that I've visited but I've seen larger ones as well. I quickly went around the various aisles looking for the large hand soap refill bottles and when I finally came to the aisle where they had their soap products, I saw that they didn't have any of it in stock. I picked up some other items (chips, some spaghetti sauce, and a small bottle of liquid hand soap) and lined up at the cash. This Dollarama only had 1 cash open and they didn't have any self checkout machines.

I really like the restaurant for affordable food, I like they use washable utensils and plates- go green! Food here is so affordable. I had the swedish meatballs with mash potatoes and veggies for 8$. This meal is of good quality and generous in amount. The pureed jam adds a nice touch. Other meal options are fish and chips or the salmon and crab cakes. A great outing for the family, second to my costco trips.

There's not much benefit to that but it's a good way to get rid of stuff that you don't need and come back with some extra money. It's a nifty thing everybody knows but we always forget about it.

This store has the best prices on industrial furniture in Montreal. If you are looking for an industrial hint in your decor, this is a very affordable option. There is also Style Labo on St. Laurent, which has wonderful pieces as well, but their prices tend to be 2-3 times as much as Retro Vie. The lady who owns the store, Vanessa, is very kind and helpful. She can deliver as well, for very very reasonable rates. This shop also does restorations and reupholstery of old furniture on site. I don't think they offer this service to the public, but this means that they're always bringing in great new pieces, both very antique and restored as well. Her selection is pretty wide. A lot of her wares are authentic industrial pieces from old factories (very neat), but she also has great art deco pieces as well as shabby chic pieces. She also has some very neat knick-knacks here and there.. last time I was there, she had an old insurance salesman's notebook, it was about 80 years old. Even cute industrial staplers. I love this place.
