First, the Red Cross Instructor for BLS/CPR was kind and professional. I found the class to be as…read moreexpected. The problem was security at the door, likely contracted through another company. I advise change in guard. The individual working security this day(opening the door to the building and ensuring check in) was one of the most unkind persons I've encountered. I get we all have bad days, I was having a tough morning myself. They Did not let me in without a mask, but while frantically searching on the sidewalk for one, she let others in without masks after me. She stated she would not let me in if I were late to my class, for I would have to drive to go find a mask to purchase, in order to enter the facility. Upon further assessment, the ARC has lifted all mask mandates as of April 1st, so I am not sure why I was singled out. My classmates and instructor did not wear masks either and did not get stopped at the door. Upon my departure, the individual was in the corner on her phone-and did not address if I had to sign out. The least helpful. I'm almost certain had a kind gentleman in the parking lot not had an extra mask on him, I would have missed my class for reasons of their own security keeping me out. Of a class I cleared the day and paid for. I was terribly disappointed and will drive anywhere but to this location for recertification in the future, you have lost my business. Can a genial, kind secretary not serve this job well? I'm uncertain why we need security in a space already highly fortified with cameras throughout

Today was my first time volunteering with them stocking the store and it was an awesome experience!! I will be back and hopefully be able to coordinate a group from my workplace to volunteer with me in the near future. If you are looking for a place to serve in the community, I highly recommend Classroom Central!

I had the pleasure of volunteering here earlier this week and had a great time. I went with about…read more10 of my coworkers, and we all had different "jobs" to do from helping with check out to running the stamps to cut out shapes for bulletin boards. What Classroom Central does, is provide free school supplies for teachers in underprivileged school districts. They cover about 7 districts from Union to Mecklenburg to even one in SC. They have everything set up for teachers to "shop" the store. They get a certain quantity of each item and can pick up to 25 different items. These items range from book bags, to one subject notebooks, to markers, pens, pencils, and crayons. All the items are donated and Classroom Central doesn't receive money from the state. Risa is in charge of the volunteers who work there, and she is a gem. She's very patient with people like me who ask a lot of obvious questions, and I can tell she appreciates everyone who comes in. If you ever have the chance to volunteer, please do so. They have a sign up online, and normally go in 4 hour shifts. Mine was 1:30-5.
