I try to tell anyone I know who is affected by cancer about Gilda's Club. It's priceless. I have encountered some people who were not aware that Gilda's Club offers services of some type to EVERYONE affected by cancer and ANY type of cancer. They offer supportive services to the person carrying the diagnosis, as well as to caregivers, spouse, significant other, children, parents, and friends. Additionally, Gilda's can offer grief supportive services to those who are bereaved who have lost someone to cancer. Gilda's has too many programs to list all of them here, but includes art, music, crafts, book clubs, trivia, community dinners, cooking demonstrations, exercise with Pilates and yoga, mindfulness, meditation, comfort animals, chili cook offs, and comedy. There are also many opportunities to volunteer to give back and honor a loved one if that's your jam. I try to regularly visit the website for updated info and to view the calendar of events, since each month typically offers standard fare mixed with new areas to explore. Tours are also offered to obtain more detailed info regarding all of the services offered. All-in-all, we are fortunate to have Gilda's Club as a community resource and continuously doing great things.

Today I got to experience their main campus, volunteering at Noogiefest. What an amazing Halloween event and I've been told all of their events meet the same level. As a Make-A-Wish board member, I know many of our Wish Kids access services at Gilda's Club and it warms my heart. There are lockers available on site to store valuables. It costs $1 for each instance and you need cash. There is a machine to turn $1 and $5 into quarters. We did the Mega Quest first, which was shockingly a huge workout. The employees were cheerful, helpful and explained everything clearly. We worked up a crazy sweat and rested in time for our Mega Ziplines tour. We got Keegyn and Bethany, who were absolutely amazing. We were in GREAT hands! I'm actually terrified of heights but I was very proud of myself for getting through each zip line and keeping my eyes open! The Mega Ziplines course does have options for people to leave if they are too scared/anxious, but there IS a point of no return eventually. This was one hell of a way to spend a day out in some caves. Highly recommend.
