Went there 2-3 years ago to look, but none of the mattresses in the showroom had any prices on them. Salesman asked me what I needed and I told him I was "just looking". He then started ranting "who comes in a mattress store to just look!?! If you don't plan on buying,bget out" UNBELIEVABLE! Later spoke to manager, who stuck up for the jerk and ended up calling the district manager...who offered me a discount at another location. Needless to say, I will NEVER purchase from them EVER, got what I wanted at Old Brick, where I was not asked to leave because I was "just looking". Stay far away from this place. Any employee who would treat a customer this way should not be in sales, and a manager who would stick up for that behavior should be fired. read more

Months ago we bought a mattress from the johnstown store. The 1st one we thought was ok but formed a dip in it within a week or so. Went there to exchange.gave us a little hassle about it but agreed. The came to exchange it . The drivers were VERY RUDE. They said we can't take it back cuz to didn't have the tags on it and they walked out the door. We called. After weeks of both and forth they agree to pick it up after we were persistent in telling them we didn't touch the tags and out the mattress protector on it right away. So they agreed to change it out because of the defect. We got this Temperpedic Mattress. Tried it a couple weeks. Told them it hurt my husband's back.. basically they said nothing we can do for you. PLEASE BE SURE YOU WANT WHAT YOU WANT. GOING THERE LIKE BUYING A CAR. PRETTY MUCH STUCK WITH IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY A LOT MORE TO EXCHANGE. Husband still can't sleep on this and we are stuck with it. This also went to upper management and still she rejected helping us without paying a huge fee. Almost what we paid for the bed. The entire experience was wonderful. The salesman (Steve) was informational and not pushy. He allowed me to take my time and choose what was right for me. The delivery guys were also very good. When we were in the store making out purchase we informed the salesman that a Queen Bocspring would not fit up our stairs. Along with the Queen IComfort we purchased an adjustable base. The salesman thought it would fit. It did not, so they replaced the base for a split base that cost $300 more and did not charge us the additional money. Unpleasant experience. The sales rep Dan at the Amsterdam, NY Metro Mattress location seemed like a nice guy at first, but in hindsight he definitely lacks integrity. We were in this location browsing for a new king size bed and Dan was able to talk us into purchasing that day. When our mattress arrived it was no where near as soft as the one in the store. I immediately went back to the store to express how unhappy I was, but Dan assured it me it wasn't as soft because of the cold weather and it would soften with time. When I brought up the idea of returning the mattress he told me for the first time that there are absolutely no returns only exchanges. However, you can only exchange for a model of equal or greater cost or else you lose the difference in price. After a month of waiting for our mattress to soften we decided it must be defective so we used the exchange program to get a new mattress of the same model. It was a little softer, but still not to the same quality as the one in the store. I know many people will say that the store model has been used a lot and is more broken in, but if you do the math a few weeks at home far exceeds the amount of time a floor model gets in more than a year. Anyway we decided to keep the bed instead of spending more money and possibly ending up with the same result. A couple months later I went back into the store to get a pillow that my wife liked for Valentine's Day. I was not sure if I was picking out the right one because the cost was $100 and I thought the one she liked was around $50. Dan showed me what he claimed was the only cheaper pillow in the store so I assumed I must have the right one, because once again there are no returns allowed. I wrapped the pillow and gave it to my wife and she immediately said it was the wrong one. We went back to the store the next day and she found the one that she really wanted. While we patiently waited for Dan to finish with a customer he said "you guys can just take that pillow and go." I then asked him "are the pillows the same price?" and he said "yes." We walked outside, but something did not seem right so I looked up the pillow online and the price was $60. I immediately went back inside and confronted Dan about the misrepresentation and he denied telling me that they were the same price. Obviously, I was furious with his misrepresentation and the fact that he was willing to keep the $40 of my store credit. I ended up using the credit get another pillow with the credit, but will never shop there again. Avoid the Amsterdam, NY Metro Mattress location at all costs and make sure you get all information about returns and exchanges before purchasing a mattress. read more

If there was a way to choose no stars, I would. The salesman there was so rude, I told him I was just looking for a certain model because we had a relative that could get a mattress for us, I didn't need his sales help, just to see the mattress and sit on it. He in returned got super mad, told me that cameras were recording "us", and he'd have to report me for my inquiry. I felt threatened... Left shaken. Attn management... If you want good reviews you may want to sit down with your salespeople and talk manors. Horrible place!!!! read more

My wife and I never splurge on anything, but for once we figured we would spend a little extra in the name of a good night sleep. $2,000 later we had our new mattress and in only 2 years it completely wore out on us. I will never buy a mattress from these people again. I am back to sleeping on the $300.00 mattress I bought 10 years at BJ Wholesale club again. I got ripped off!! read more

My boyfriend and I went in to get a better sense of what we wanted as a mattress and price. Dan was very pushy and was inconsiderate..and once he figured we weren't buying that day he gave us an incredible amount of attitude. He mentioned nothing of sales until we were about to leave as well. The store was also incredibly dirty and seemed dingy..water bottles laying around everywhere. I didn't get a good feeling with the way he was treating us as customers...it was nothing more than a sale to him. I wouldn't recommend shopping for a mattress at this location until that man is fired. read more

Two years ago, I purchased a Kathy Ireland mattress. In July of this year, the middle of the mattress collapsed leaving a 6-inch dip in the mattress. I contacted the Amsterdam store and first I was told, it was not under a guarantee because I purchased a floor model as is. I produced the original receipt, which shows it wasn't a floor model or sold as is. I had to wait 3 weeks for one of their outside vendors to call me to make an appointment to come to my house to measure the dip in the mattress. After the phone call, the appointment was set up 2 weeks later. After the lady came on a Sunday evening, she said it would take another 5-10 business days for Metro Mattress to review this claim. On the 10th day, I called Metro Mattress and was told that an exchange was approved. That Friday the new mattress was brought to our home, but an exchange was not made because there was a 4-inch stain on the mattress. As soon as they left, we were able to remove the stain and another exchange date was made for that Sunday. That exchange went well, we do have a new mattress. Everything of course was blamed on the manufacturer of the mattress. Would I ever shop at Metro Mattress again? No. All this for something that was under warranty. It took 2 months for this to get resolved. read more
