Where do i start with metro there the most worst unreliable company ever they say pre-booking a taxi is priority so why is it when i pre-book a taxi and pay a deposit i am stood in Manchester waiting 2 hours later for my taxi and having it to be put on account. My argument to this was why is it so late or being no jobbed as they say when drivers don't ring you or give you ring back some times with these 480 drivers are they all stupid or something how hard is it to follow simple instructions.The operaters and staff are all rude muppets, They sound like a bunch of complete morons, typical scally firm with typical scally staff, I had a problem with the fair once and asked to speak to a manager, She was called Naomi , she was extremely rude, abrupt, annoying, pig headed and souded like the biggest waste of space to be honest sounded like could get more sense out of my 12 yr old daughter. I also had another problem a while back regarding losing my Iphone in a taxi all the staff was like The drivers not on at the moment so will have to try ringing him call back in 15 mins. I rang back and they said The number we have for him is wrong try phoning back at around 8pm as hes a night driver and might be on then well im sorry but i think you should make sure you have all the correct details for all drivers for situations like this. When i rung i got through to someone who answered the phone sounding like he couldnt even be bothered helping me. After i explained the situation to him he said the drivers on and saying hes not found you'r phone so i was pretty miffed off at this point. I asked him what i could do and he was really helpful and polite explaining what i could do and a way of getting my phone back which was try tracking it through Icloud and i did but said location unavailable which he told me meant they had took the simcard out and another way of tracking it was ringing 101 and giving them the IMEI number and see if they can trace it that way. I'd say i was more grateful and happy that i got through to someone like this as i got more sense and information out of him than the people i dealt with before so i asked him for his name and he replied with James sounded abit annoyed or angry over phone but i would just say that's the tone of his voice as he was a kind helpful polite young man during the phone call. I would avoid this firm at all costs, i would prefer to walk in the rain than give business and my money to a rude antisocial firm like metro. The firm needs to be investigated by licensing and i will be informing all of my friends and family and people in my 3 local pubs i go to and pubs in town as i heard alot of people slagging metro off in the past but i never had a problem or a grudge against them before within the 4 years of using them until these past 2 months. They have all these young arrogant cocky Asian drivers what are always on there phones smoking and even a high smell of cannabis in a few cars this firm needs investigating by licencing and even all of these 480 drivers they have or should i say apparently. This firm is a huge disgrace to private hire and should get shut down. read more

I am a driver with Metro Cars and treat my job as a career rather than a means to " ripping people off ". I could print off here numerous pages of conversations i have had with misgruntled customers but i presume that if you are reading this then you are very likely to be a misgruntled customer yourself. To the best of my knowledge there has never been a complaint against myself and i hope there never will be as i consider myself to be polite, courteous and very knowledgeable of the Bolton area. In defence of Metro Cars i have to say that the owner Nick Astley has never been anything but friendly and helpful to myself, and he cannot control what happens within drivers cars. All of the drivers have been vetted and given licences by Bolton Council so maybe it is the council that passengers should direct there grievances to. The 1st part of the taxi/private hire exam is an oral basic english test. If the driver has passed this then maybe it should be passed as a by law that only english should be spoken within the car during any journey. Many complaints i hear about are regarding drivers speaking on there mobile phones in a non english language during there journey which makes many passengers (particularly females) feel uncomfortable or even threatened. Maybe anyone wanting to work as a telephonist within the trade should have to take the same english test. I have to admit that a lot of the information i recieve on my data is incorrect. A customer/passenger should also realise or learn what rights they have whist travelling in a licenced vehicle either taxi or private hire vehicle. If you feel you are being " ripped off " request a receipt off the driver stating the mileagethe priceand his badge number and car licence number. All drivers are required to carry reciepts as some pasengers need them for business expense purposes. If you feel you have been overcharged or "ripped off " simply take it with your complaint to the licencing team within the town hall. Obviously i cannot comment too much about the telephonists as i dont have much contact with them but in my limited encounters with them i find most to be helpful and friendly but there again im not a disgruntled passenger. I hope this letter helps some of you disgruntled passengers out there But dont direct your complaints to Metro Carsthey did not issue the drivers licences.. Allow me to make some suggestions to improve Metro's service. Firstly, a taxi driver ought to know their local roads like the back of his/her hand. I recently ordered a Metro taxi to Plodder Lane (one of the largest roads in Bolton), the driver hadn't a clue where Plodder Lane was and resorted to turn-by-turn guidance and, as a passenger, I should not be doing that. It is similar to a pilot leaving his cockpit to ask his passengers Does anybody know how to get to Alicante?. It is their job to know the roads. Secondly, I am aware that bluetooth headsets etc. are legal to use whilst driving but it is not at all professional to be making social calls whilst carrying passengers. What's worse is that the conversation often takes place in a foreign language and quite frankly, I think this is the height of ignorance and makes many passengers feel uncomfortable. Also, is it really necessary for the drivers to drive like they obtained their licences elsewhere? Red lights mean stop whether it is day or night, ignoring the laws puts not only the selfish drivers at risk but also the passengers (your customers). Also, if their driving style was not so frantic they might save on their fuel expense. Finally, on very few ocassions do I see the tariff sheet displayed for the passenger to see. It should be presented in clear view and the prices conveyed in such a way that it does not require complex calculations to work out the actual cost. This way the customer won't fall victim to being ripped off. A customer recognises these things and takes them into consideration. Most of the above steps could easily be solved. I hope you take these suggestions on board and improve the service of Metro. read more

Metro Bolton is the worst taxi company i have ever used. The drivers have terrible manners, they don't know how to treat their customers and the cars smell. i recently had a really bad experience with them where the driver took me to the wrong address then refused to admit his mistake and take me to the correct address unless i paid both fares. when i pointed out the mistake was his he threatened to call the police unless i got out of the car. we contacted the taxi base and the manager said she would sort it and that the driver was out of order and then spoke to him on his phone and told him to kick us out of the taxi or call the police so i found myself on foot in the middle of Bolton at midnight. the operater who had taken the booking was really rude and couldn't wait to get off the phone. i repeated my address to him several times and he put the phone down on me and still made a mistake. really obnoxious. to be fair the day time manager was pleasent and helpful and refunded my fare but overall i had a really bad impression. I definitely won't be using them again. the driver was unreasonable and intimidating and i found his reaction very unnerving. definitely would not reccomend especially to other women. Drivers should be trained how to deal with customers, what it means to have good manners and should speak enough english to be able to communicate effectively it's not all about knowing how to drive! read more

rude , ignorant , late and took me to haslingden instead of darwen , then told me I was in darwen and when I said we were in haslingden he told me he wanted £50 !!! I pulled out £20 and said that's all I have and that's all it normally costs to go home to darwen , he then snatched the £20 and kicked me out , I asked if he would take me back to Bolton (work) and he said no and sped off , he couldn't speak English either which made it worse for translation and him understanding his sat nav. never ever will I recommend or use them again , im 37 and ive never ever been so insulted , disappointed and p!553d off with something/body in all my life. The staff seem to have got a problem dealing with the public dont seem to know how to get drivers to you on time not just 5mins late but 20-30 and the best yet over an hour wait and that was booking the night before But not only that the drivers seem unable to either find the right number of house or go to the wrong location completly radio in say its a no show then go to the next unfortunate person on the list.Its great having all these drivers but they should try getting some professonal ones. Very rude and constantly late. Pre booked my taxi at least 2 hours in advance to get me to an appointment i had however turned up 20 minutes late therefore meaning i missed my appointment. This has happened to me several times and every time I have rang up and tried to track down my taxi the operators have been rude and unhelpful. Do not use this firm, some of the drivers need arresting. I know of a young girl who was taken by a driver down a back street where he stopped the taxi and started to call people in his own language saying he had the 'ting in his car innit' ect. He also charged her £20 when the fare was £12, and tried to interfere with her phone so she couldnt call for help! Police are investigating. read more

Without exception - every time I get a Metro taxi, they try to rip me off, last night the driver asked for £4 for a 1 mile journey (should be £2). Unfortunately they are the biggest firm in Bolton so hard to avoid, a favourite trick of theirs seems to be that when you get in they already have half a mile on the counter and try to charge you for that. These guys used to be good, but are getting much worse now. I've just been kept waiting 55 minutes for a car and that was after FIVE phone calls. I was told twice that the car was outside when it wasn't. When they car eventually did turn up the driver was nice, but i was bloody freezing! They need to take notice of feed back and sort their act out! read more

This has got to be the best firm in the world there are some good staff working there especially the boss Nick astley he has got to be the bbest boss in the world as he is so kind and gentle. some of the taxi drivers are nice But the best thing about metro is the reliability and speed of the arrival o the taxi . They'll urinate on your doorstep! Not literally perhaps, but they do at the end of our road regularly. Various drivers have been seen doing it, and some even in broad daylight. Disgusting behaviour by grown men. Don't book them unless you're happy with them doing this near you! read more

Booked a taxi once with Metro, Taxi driver was rude, drove at a dangerous speed, and smoked in the vehicle with the windows up, after asking him twice to put the windows down he wouldn't, I am asthamatic. Won't use metro again. read more
