Metro not so close either and won't get you too close to the hotel zone. The 4€ taxi is the starting rate, and when we took it to various places, it never went up unless you're going much further which I doubt since all of the places of interest are in the centre/downtown area. For the City of Arts and Sciences, you can easily take the bus.

I am currently sitting here waiting for my train, and writing my review. I took the metro to Jesus station, which normally had functional elevators and escalators. However one thing I've noticed about Valencia is that elevators or escalators at the train or metro stations sometimes aren't working! This was the case for me - both at start and finish, so yes I had to lug my luggage up many flights of stairs. My advice is, if you can take the bus- take the bus. Especially if you have a lot of luggage. Fortunately for me, I only had one big luggage and while annoying, it was a minor inconvenience. Will see how my arm and shoulder muscles fare later! If you're wondering how the Renfe lounge is, it's pretty basic. Offers some basic snacks like bread and donut, and some soft drinks. There's also some cava if you like something bubbly. It's quite quiet in the lounge as it doesn't seem that many folks ride in Confort from Valencia. Normally for security they don't let folks go through early, unless it's time to board. However if you're in Confort class with Renfe, you can cross through security early to access the lounge. This is nice because it saves some time and makes traveling a lot more streamlined! Overall I give this station a solid 3 stars. Easy peasy in terms of the facilities and services here on site- but, rating could be higher if public transport was a bit more wheelchair/luggage accessible across all modes of transport. Either that, or just work out your arms.

I like how I can take the subway from Downtown area directly to the Airport from Zone A-D. Fast and convenient. The Zone system works well as you really paid for how far you travelling compare to one fare for all. Next time when I visit Valencia again, hopefully I can spend more time exploring the City and I definitely will be using the subway more! PS. The staff at the Colon Station was really nice, even shown me how to pass back to use our ticket.. with a smile on his face!

The metro in Valencia is the worst. I am a student at the university and I have to leave an hour…read morebefore class starts because it is impossible to time it right. If google says the tram is coming in 4 minutes I can guarantee it will not be there for about 20 minutes. They need to upgrade the public transport here or add more lines because it is ridiculous how inefficient it is.

A smaller no frills airport where getting through security was an unbelievable cinch! I'm talking…read morefrom drop off to boarding, it was done miraculously in 28 minutes total with carry ons, (no check in luggage). Yes, we timed it because we're were running so late due to miscalculation of time change! This was the fastest we've EVER experienced boarding a flight! So quick it was ALMOST questionable! Haha What we found to be more difficult was finding the correct entrance!! If you make one wrong turn, as you may because all of the signs are in Spanish and we of course know enough basic Spanish like "salida", you're back on the highway or down in staff parking OR even at car rental drop off! Wow!!! It was circle after circle. We found it all to be very confusing, so perhaps give yourself some extra time if you have a car and need to park or are dropping off a rental. *I will say though that the parking garage is very closely located to the entrance and there is a decent, quiet spot to pull over and watch planes land and take off, so if you have kiddos in tow, you may entertain them with that! Besides super easy security checks, another postitive be would be the uber cheap flights available from here to various locations within Europe. Ryanair has flights in and out of here starting at just €20!!
