St Kilda station is a former railway station located right in the middle of St Kilda, it used to be…read morethe terminus of the St Kilda railway line of the Melbourne suburban rail system and is the oldest surviving railway station building in Victoria. It is now accessible by the St Kilda Beach light rail, it is one of only three stations in Victoria to have a 19th century train shed. There is a big bright red sign as you pull into St Kilda Station that is separated into linear panels spelling the letters "Metropol," this sign has become somewhat iconic to St Kilda, and is an association of mine to being at the beach as well as Summer time. Still having remnants of the old railway station there are now a series of shops and cafe's scattered through the old terminal, it is lovely to wander through and think about what the station used to look like on your way on through to St Kilda Beach.

SO STINKIN CUTE!!!!!!!…read more We took the tram out to St Kilda just to see the colony of fairy penguins. It was a COLD night and the wind was literally howling - after walking out in the game to the end of the long pier, we were completely frozen. Abs then we saw the first tiny penguin (less than a foot tall!!!) and I forgot that I was cold and damp. If you want to see these cute birds, you'll need to come as the sun is setting - there's a boardwalk that lets you see without disturbing the penguins. You can't use a flash but there are wardens with red flashlights to help you spot them. We got there just at the right time and we're delighted to see penguins swimming in from the ocean and hopping up to the rocks. I was just a few feet away - just an incredible experience. They're a little smelly of course but make a ton of noise. If you're a nature lover, you can't miss the rare chance to see penguins in the wild. The tram ride is an easy 20 minutes or so from the city center.

Caught the Bluebird shuttle bus on 22 February 2015 from Tullamarine Airport to Melbourne CBD. The…read moreairport ticketing clerk (not employed by Bluebird) did not inform Bluebird to pick me up, so I waited an hour before calling to see what had happened. The staff member on the phone apologised and quickly arranged for a shuttle bus to pick me up and arrived within 10 minutes. The driver was also courteous and provided me with a complimentary voucher for when I next go to the airport. Despite the issues I encountered, there was no fault on Bluebird's part, so I would recommend them to others. The shuttle bus was also clean and comfortable.

I decided to try and use Bluebird Airport Shuttle instead of my typical way home. I am VERY…read moredisappointed. I waited an hour for my shuttle to come and every time I called customer service they estimated the time that it would be there very wrong. They said 15 minutes and then 20 went by and this happened three times. I have a lacrosse game two hours after my landing and assumed I would make it but I no longer will be able to play in it because I waited so long for my shuttle. I will never be using Bluebird Airport Pickup again and am very disappointed and annoyed. This is absolutely ridiculous and I am disappointed that I even have to pay for such service. I usually never post bad reviews or send annoyed emails but I honestly can't believe this. If I hadn't waited so long already I would have gotten home another way. They are unreliable. Do not use.

I had to walk out a side door around to the back where my ground floor room door is just open to the public which never feels as safe to me. There were two people on chairs outside their room chatting which was just weird. What the heck are they doing hanging out in a hotel parking lot? The room is clean and comfortable but it is VERY loud. Traffic noise and music/talking/yelling from a nearby bar or party won't make it easy to sleep tonight. Sometimes even great service doesn't cut it when it sounds like there's a freeway and disco across the road. I suppose it was cheap though.

Luckily they do hospitality better then arithmetic and the St. Kilda location is no exception. This boutique budget hotel is located one street back from Acland street and the esplanade, and here lies both the reason for staying here and the reason to not. The location cannot be beaten in St Kilda. Your minutes away restaurant, bars, shops, transport and the beach. This is fantastic obviously! The trouble is if your allocated a front facing room, it may get a bit loud at night, all night(mostly due to the popular backpackers across the road.) The hotel rate includes parking which is a godsend in St Kilda. The service here was fantastic, the check-in process was one of the fastest and smoothest I have experienced and upon requesting an Internet cable they had it ready when I popped down to reception, I didn't even have to ask for it! The room itself was furnished with chairs that look like art pieces but are actually very uncomfortable to sit in and the bed was soft. The LCD flat screen on the wall was great, as was the large desk area in the Deluxe King. The rooms themselves are standard. great value to a budget hotel but missing polish for a boutique offering. The bathroom wasn't memorable, although I was let down by the lack of bathtub. For some reason I like to have the option of a bath while in a hotel, though rarely use it! The included Continental breakfast was standard hotel fare but in a great cafe/bar area which improved the experience.

Lastminute kept its name…read moreundisclosed, but you may be able to recognize it with these details: (1) it was a 4 Star Hotel, and (2) the information hotel disclosed that is in Albert Park. It's very close to public transportation (when you're on a tram on St. Kilda Rd., get off at Lorne Rd. and walk 3 minutes to the hotel). It doesn't seem like there are any restaurants close to the hotel. The reception was very courteous and not only checked me 3 hours before there check in time, but also upgraded me to a room with a view of the lake and ocean (in the background). The room is HUGE - king size bed, sitting room w/ a desk and sofa, sitting table overlooking the view. There is also an incredible amount of natural light because of the huge windows. The one bad thing is that wifi is somewhat pricey ($40 for 3 days). I would definitely recommend this place!
