I am visiting Istanbul for 2 wks and picked this place because of the great online reviews. I called and made an appt but there seemed to be a miscommunication due to language barriers so I just walked in. They greeted me warmly and seated me immediately. I initially went in just for a color. Multiple people worked on my hair at the same time. I ended up getting a cut and blow dry as well. Everyone there is super friendly and I got endless cups of complimentary tea and coffee. My final result did not exactly match the reference photo I provided but the level of artistry that went into it is so ridiculous it doesn't even matter. Before my visit my hair was over processed and about 4 different colors from black to blonde ombré. They bleached it multiple times (I have black hair) and then hand painted the colors on. The cost is NOT expensive. With the high level of service and complimentary drinks for the hours I was there- including a tip - it is still cheaper than the highest priced salon I've ever been to in Washington DC. First time was great everyone was so friendly and spoke English hair was really nice and soft for months, but this 2nd time things were different- First I didn't know what Type of service I got last time and I felt like I was getting yelled at because I couldn't make up my mind quickly enough as to what blow out I needed. Third no one but one person spoke English which was odd to me as I was there last year and everyone spoke English. I got a keratin blow out and it was by far the most hurtful painful experience with sores on my scalp and the owner was pulling my hair I kept saying ouch and she kept going she burned my ears, neck and scalp. It was terrible 2 hours of pain. My head is still sore a week later and my hair has a terrible smell to it like burnt smell that I can't get rid of. I was completely scammed paid 250.00 USA dollars! I have sores inside my scalp meaning my scalp was bleeding! I will never recommend this salon to anyone and definitely not tourist! I also noticed something very interesting.. the bottle of Brazilian blowout was empty and I saw the guy go back refill it with something and put it back on the shelf whatever they are using is not the real product! Edit review- they sent me a what's up message after posting this saying I made her cry and basically implied they want me to remove this review. This is an honest review and I want people to know that truth and the pain I endured during a blow out. He asked me why I had chosen it, and seemed shocked at my answer. He didn't understand how I could trust something as important as a hair-cut to Yelp reviews. But the reviews proved accurate. He was both incredibly precise in how he managed my haircut, and so much fun to talk to with his great sense of humor and patience for my awkward Turkish. The one thing I'm genuinely sorry and sad about it, is that his haircut grew out so well that I never had a chance to go back to him during the four months that remained for me in Turkey. If I get a chance to go back to Istanbul, I'll schedule an appointment! Highly recommend.

I was expecting a more communal style affair-my only point of reference was a Korean style sauna since I got walked into a communal area where people were just chilling out. After being walked upstairs and into a changing room. The next room was a large steam room, but not oppressively humid, probably because it was surprisingly high ceilinged and laid down on a marble bench, another surprise, it was way more comfortable than it sounds. I lost all sense of time. The hammam was like a cross between a scrub, a wash and a massage. I never saw why Turkish towels were 'a thing,' but after this I was surprised at how absorbent and supple it was. After getting all the travel stress out of my system THAT was when I was given a robe and then taken up front to that cavernous common area with a nice cup of hibiscus tea.

This is a nice touch since I'm using my US cell phone. The hamam itself is immaculate. I booked a session for me and my 2 daughters. We were given 2 changing rooms. Each room has a dyson hair dryer and q-tips etc. to use after your Turkish bath. Each room locks automatically and you are given a bracelet which unlocks the door. Very convenient and secure. The hamam experience is comparable to other experiences I've had - very good! I do like that for the bubble/massage portion, you are laying down on the marble. I've been to another hamam where they do this part while you're sitting. Here, my girl did a great job to get the knots out of my back. The experience is so relaxing and calming. You can take your time and chill in the relaxation room after your Turkish bath. With this hamam being co-ed/couples, you can bring your own 2 piece bikini which is convenient and comfortable. I've been to non-coed hamams where you eventually end up taking your bikini top off, but not here. It's really no biggie but just wanted to mention the differences. This is a great hamam for first timers or seasoned hamam goers. This is a great part of the Ottoman/Turkish culture to experience.

My pedicure and haircut both turned out very well, however when I went to pay at the end my total was nearly double the prices I saw online. They added charges for my hair being washed, dried, and "styled", as well as extra charges for a "medical" nail service and extra charge for adding color (which should be part of a regular pedicure.) None of the charges were disclosed to me during the process. You would think that after being 45 minutes late and me not complaining at all, they would offer a discount or something for the trouble but instead I paid even more. Salon itself is nice, my nail tech was lovely and the hairdresser did a really good job on my cut. I am just disappointed with the customer service, tardiness, and up charges.

My own hair was damaged by bleaching. absolutely awful experience trying to get a refund. I was offered for them to be refitted but unfortunately I live in the uk and i dont go to Istanbul regularly. I feel I am eligible for a refund. The manager of Luxus Galata has now blocked me. I'm not an abusive or rude person, I work hard to have nice things and feel really ups and let down.
