In our partially failed search for another spot for dinner (Casa Vicente- a seafood joint), we settled on coming here, and hoped to be pleasantly surprised.
Here's what we had:
Gazpacho Andaluz- A light tomato-based cold soup with croutons and diced vegetables. For a typical summer day, this was a delight to start our meal. Nothing extravagant, just plain good. (4)
Fritura Malagueta- This was basically a combination plate of fried seafood- calamari and several types of fish. Since they utilized two different batters, it made for a contrast in textures as we ate different items. No dipping sauce needed. Just some lemon juice, and everything was great. (4)
Paella Mariscos- We originally ordered a lobster paella, but they ran out so we settled for the normal seafood paella. Unfortunately, the main part of our meal was a disappointment- the shrimp and crawfish were not fresh (falling apart), and the rice was undercooked (too much bite in the rice). Edible, yes, but very pedestrian- I was hoping for a lot more than what we got.
I guess it was good they also ran out of clams, because they probably wouldn't've been any good.
If you're looking for seafood at reasonable prices....go elsewhere (like Casa Vicente on Calle Comiseros). Otherwise, this might be your spot. read more
