While in Brazil, you learn quickly that the locals love steak and I love steak so figured this would be a fun trip. We decided to come to Carretao which is a rodizio style Brazilian restaurant. Once seated inside the weight staff try the very best to explain to us how everything works. You're given a disc which is right on one side and green on the other side as long as the green side is showing the staff will continuously bring different cuts of delicious meats to your table and slice you off some samples. There was an open salad bar, which was loaded with fresh salads and little appetizers, but the main attraction was the never ending Daisy chain of meats. I was in heaven, and I enjoyed every moment of it. My only complaint about this restaurant was that I definitely bought my appetite and after sometime, I noticed that the staff stopped coming to the table with the prime cuts of meat, but would only come with the less desirable cuts this didn't bother me too much because I definitely ate more than my fair share lol. I would absolutely come here again. The price was amazing. The staff was friendly and at the end of dinner we got some delicious dessert shots, which were quite a treat.

Carretão - Absolutely amazing. Great good. Great value. The staff really went out of their way to help us tired Americans.

If you like a little spice with some of your food, be sure to discard the tobasco sauce and ask for the molho pimenta especial. Be sparing with how much you use, it can get pretty ridiculous. The service was great and the staff was friendly. I don't think they speak much English, descriptive hand gestures and menu props are welcome and likely offensive. I'm stopping here again before I leave. Our meal for two came out to around R$100 for four drinks and feijoada to share. Portion sizes are large.

I was alone and quite hungry. I had no idea what to order so I order feijoada even though the menu said it was for 2 persons. I have no regrets! It was the BEST feijoada I had!!! Every piece of the dish was FRESH, HOT, and very flavorful. The pork and beef was cooked just right. Not too salty or overcooked. The male waiter couldn't speak English but he was so kind to help set my plate even though I knew how to eat it. Everywhere else I had feijoada or rice and beans with beef and farofa was gross in comparison. The restaurant I first had feijoada, the meat (pork/beef) was ultra salty and overcooked. The meal just tasted ok. I ate about 3 rounds and packed the rest as take-away. I like that the waiter packed each pot into a separate box. They did charge for the bigger boxes (2). I ended up splitting the leftover into 2 meals. Therefore I feel the dish would be a lot of 2 people, if they are not big eaters. I think 3 people is just right. I will definitely come back here for just feijoada.

Visiting from Miami we felt the trip to Brazil would not be complete without a trip to a steakhouse. Some of the options we actually have back home, so we settled on this one. The steaks are of great quality, cooked perfectly to your specifications and delivered by friendly knowledgeable staff. The sausage sent out before the meal was perhaps my favorite thing, rivaled only by the fried potatoes. The fried potatoes are masterful. It's like they thinly sliced two pieces of potato, stuck them together, and then fried them. So you have two crunchy sides with an air pocket between them. Where have these been all my life??? Don't leave without ordering them. The picanha was as good as we expected. The chorizo is actually a cut of steak here, if he had known Portuguese a bit better we wouldn't have ordered it because we thought it was sausage, but here it's a cut of meat. Delicious anyway. The side of broccoli rice made us feel a bit healthier. Lol.

You have the option of going to the counter and picking the cut of meat you want or ordering off the menu and letting them pick for you. I highly recommend ordering from the counter, so you can see what you're in for. I ordered the t-bone steak, and it's the biggest steak I've ever seen in my life that wasn't for two people. I don't even know how I finished a steak that massive. The only thing I'd recommend is that for anyone (like me) who doesn't like anything less than medium, to know what the Portuguese word is for "well done". Medium well got me a medium rare steak. After drinks and sides, our bill came to about R$ 135, which was like $35. Look at the picture of my t-bone (or a picture of my friend's steak which was half of a steak he split with another friend) and tell me where else you can get a brontosaurus steak like that at that price?
