This is my family's review regarding The Residence at Fitz Farm. We moved our mom into memory care…read moreon April 5th, 2024 and moved her out on July 27th, 2024. I am writing this review two months after the fact to give time to process all that occurred and give an honest review. About one month into Mom's stay, she showed me bruises that were obviously from a fall. She then stated it was because someone pushed her for going too slow. We totally dismissed our mom's account and figured she had fallen during the night. We thought to put a camera in her room since another resident also had one to see what we could do to help Mom. That same day, I inquired to Morgan, the Director of memory care, what had happened and when. She had bandaged Mom's cut, but found her with a Band-Aid already on and didn't know any other details. I followed up a week later, but Morgan had still had no information for me. Two weeks later, we found the entire front of my mom's lower leg was severely bruised. When I asked Morgan about this bruise, she was unaware of it. Mind you, my mother is in dementia care and gets help daily with dressing and bathing. No one saw this bruise? At this point I contacted Brandi, the Director of Fitz Farm, to express my concerns about mom's bruises with no explanations and no communication with us. Brandi was very concerned since all bruises must be reported to the state; she said she would follow up and get back in touch with me. A few days later Brandi called to say a worker had in fact been physically abusing our mom and that she was fired immediately. We were in shock. A few days later on a Sunday afternoon we placed the camera in Mom's room and planned to tell Brandi about it the next morning. We did not get a chance because Sunday night at 12:30 a.m., I found my mother was being abused by another worker. I got my mother safe and called Brandi Monday morning. She was horrified at the evidence the camera caught and again immediately fired the second worker. While I appreciate the speed with which they terminated the abusive workers, there was no follow up from Brandi or Morgan concerning my mother. Only when I asked for a meeting, did we get one on Thursday. They offered no tangible steps on how to help our mom. Moving a dementia patient is very hard on them so we did everything in our power to keep her at Fitz Farm. The physical abuse stopped, but the neglect started. Memory care was short staffed from two firings and one worker who quit that same week. One day I showed up at 5pm and mom was still in her pajamas with no hearing aids in; she is basically deaf without them. Another day I was there for five hours and no activities were done with the residents. My sister visited 1-2 times weekly also and only ever saw one activity over two months. The regular scene was residents in front of the TV with no stimulation. One of the nightshift workers actually brought her newborn baby on her shift. A new resident who was very functional moved in about a month after our mom. A worker made a comment that "we need to get him medicated so he's easier to manage." We do not blame the workers because they were understaffed and overworked. Morgan stated to me that she had been requesting more help especially someone for activities, but management told her no. We tried to make Fitz Farm work for our mother, but after two more months with no changes, we moved her to the Providence Place of Dover. We had to move our mother because she was still being abused through neglect at Fitz Farm. During the first week at Providence Place, we received more communication than the previous four months at Fitz Farm. I do not know about the other neighborhoods at Fitz Farm but I wholeheartedly advise you to not place your loved one in memory care there. The neglect is still going on and I am doing what I can to help the residents that are still there.

My mother lived at Country Meadows for 17 months, under their Independent Living Signature program…read more Unfortunately, we had to move my mother elsewhere when Country Meadows decided to eliminate the IL program, which would have meant we would have had to pay an additional $2,000/month just for someone to administer her medications (the only service she needed) . . . ridiculous!! Then they tried to tell me I only had 3 weeks to move her out, or pay the extra money. Too bad for them I pulled a copy of the lease which said they had to give me written notification AND give me 30-days notice. After I sent an email to Michael Leader, the Mechanicsburg mgmt called me and was not very happy that I went over their heads. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Country Meadows!! They took fantastic care of my mother, and we will miss them. But, I cannot say ANY good things about the management! The Executive Director, Amanda, and the Director of Resident Services, Olivia, are shady and incompetent, and don't care one bit about the residents there. They only care about money! It's so bad that most of the staff don't trust them either! More than once they tried to pull a fast one with me, but luckily I kept copies of every email, every document they sent me. So any time they tried to pull something, I'd call them out on it. I think it's safe to say they didn't like me very much because I didn't put up with their crap! So, if you're thinking about putting a parent in Country Meadows, you'll be very happy with the personal care they'll receive. But make sure you keep copies of ALL communications with management and DO NOT let them push you around!! Ultimately, you know what's best for your parent, so stick to your guns! They will try to convince you your parent needs a higher level of care, just so they can make more money. As much as we will miss the staff at Country Meadows, we were very happy to get out of that place!!!

This is clearly and end of life facility. You do not put someone here you ever plan on seeing again…read moreor they will hate you after this experience. It's is low level quality and care. The people in management work hard to control the residents no matter what if you want to go outside "No" want to get some other fod "No" you want to leave "No" we are not done draining your resources. CNA's are a nightmare, Nurses are better but they look away from any of the of the bad things these people are doing to the patients. The Doctors are non-existent and definitely not top quality. These are the people that barely slid through. If you hate the person you are placing this is the place old unkept prison-like facility with terrible food served like you are in prison Please do not send your family member here they live in terrible conditions with some of the most untrained inexperienced CNA that the medical industry ever produced and since no one will ever work for this place it's mostly all job agency people. The are rude, uncaring, unsk because no one else wants them they work for these agencies that the Garden employes. These are who your relatives are most in contact with so their situation is not to good. Run far and fast from this place. I know if this because I was a patient at this facility and speak from experience.

Ashlee, Daphne, Phyllis, Melinda, Dennis, Sara, Maiya, all providing such wonderful care. I am sure there are some names I am overlooking, but know that everyone who had a hand in my dad's care was so kind. The social worker Melinda would address any issue and was so accommodating and always kind. To summarize, The Gardens at Camp Hill is under rated for the level of care provided by such a wonderful staff. Do not overlook this facility in your quest for a place for your loved one.

Such a fun night engaging with this beautiful age group in their retirement community. This generation is serious about Bingo: don't call the numbers slow, don't go back over the numbers when players arrive late, and clearly state which Bingo (corners, blackout, etc.) Of course, the group likes the free treats, small gifts, and, last but not least, the mental stimulation, which is great for low-stress cognitive engagement and socialization. Ecumenical Retirement Community is a non-profit facility affiliated with Country Meadows, operating with the same high standards of care. I hope Cass schedules another volunteer opportunity here; the interaction was priceless.

The Dementia with Alzheimer's was getting worse. I tried home care, but it was just not enough for a good quality of life. While digging through the web and looking at Country Meadows (among many other wonderful places I visited), I stumbled on Ecumenical. A sister company. A hidden gem. After setting up a visit and lunch through the very kind and helpful Jason Turri, a room, or apartment as my Mom calls it, became available. What a relief. For both me and my Mom. The staff is nice. The food is reported excellent. The activities are plentiful. Access is 24 hour. The campus is delightful. Easy to get to off of 83 and Union Deposit Road.

It is a modern, state-of-the-art medical center conveniently located on the West Shore of Harrisburg; driving to Hershey is no longer necessary. My hubby received excellent care for his outpatient procedure, there is plenty of free parking and staff very helpful in locating where you need to go.
