Doing things at Mesa's Haunted Museum is the most fun I've had in a while…read more Located in an historic storefront on Main Street in downtown Mesa, the museum has a small exhibit room, plus other spaces where Michelle and Heather of East Valley Paranormal Investigations host paranormal investigations and psychic/tarot card readings. (They also run the museum.) At the paranormal investigations, which take place after the museum closes, participants get to use EMF detectors, spirit boxes and other devices to interact with the spirit world. It's really fun and some wild things have happened. They also run ghost tours of downtown Mesa, which involves the participants riding around on skeleton Rydables and stopping at places to investigate with ghost-hunting equipment or to learn about Mesa's haunted history. It is so much fun and I actually learned a lot. I had a reading with Michelle, who gave me really meaningful and accurate answers to the questions I had. Lastly, I've participated in a seance there. (Note: While the museum is the location for the seances, they're run by Sarah of Flitter Mouse.) The seance was awesome--we learned about Victorian spiritualism and had some really amazing things happen. The museum and its activities are just a fantastic place for anyone interested in the spooky side of life. You don't need to wait till Halloween to take advantage of all it has to offer.

They've aged out of the soft play areas, but now they can spend hours at the stop motion video station and exploring the newer exhibits. The recycling area is also one of their favorites. It's such a quaint little space and incredibly affordable for what you get. I also love seeing downtown Mesa continue to grow, and the museum feels like a big part of that energy. From a parent perspective, it's really easy to visit. There's ample parking, it's very stroller and diaper bag friendly, and it's a perfect place for a playdate. You can actually have conversations while the kids explore and move between activities. The mural in the courtyard is gorgeous and the puppets are always a hit with my kids. It's one of those places we keep coming back to.

There are two green rooms we use - both have the space to accommodate approximately 40 faculty members who make up the stage party. I sing the national anthem for the graduation ceremony and let me simply say how amazing their sound system is. There used to be no sound delay. The sound is crisp. And I think the sound system makes me sound even better than I really am!! lol The lobby area is spacious and great for after-ceremony gatherings. It truly is a great place! I also have contemplated taking some of the arts classes they offer. I haven't found time in my busy schedule but I do know they offer a variety if classes. I look forward to when I can take a class!!

The actors and dancers were fabulous. I never knew this little theater existed and now that I've seen it for myself I'll be watching their every move. The last time I saw this play performed was in a Shakespeare in the Park" type of environment with a very low budget with the sound of cars, horns, kids on the playground interrupting my experience as well as lesser actors and it was superior to what I sat through on March 15th. The acting by four if the six primary actors was tepid at best. Low energy, simplistic blocking, a couple of poor casting choices...wow. I was expecting a very professional show with skilled actors, perhaps interesting directing and such but this was such a letdown I will never pay money to see another performance of Shakespear by this company. The theater was fine and you could hear the actors well enough but overall the experience was meh.
