Cross streets are Hilltop Road and Canterbury Parkway, across the street from the high school. The fact that this park is newer really shows. All of the landscaping is immaculate, and the grass looks like it belongs on a golf course. I was so surprised to find this gem tucked away out here in the country! Amenities include a large gazebo with picnic tables, two charcoal barbecues, paved jogging trails, and a (mostly flat) grassy field. Additionally there are tons (literally!) of modern playground equipment on wood chips, including slides, swings, and a variety of jungle gyms. One potential negative is that the bathroom facilities appear to be port-a-potty style rather than a permanent structure with running water (I also did not see a drinking fountain anywhere). I did not personally have to visit the facilities during our afternoon here, so I can't speak to how nasty they may or may not be. I didn't hear anyone else comment about them, though, so maybe they're okay!

Over the years the park has improved so much. As you can see by the photos I uploaded (taken during my most recent walk just yesterday) it's a very well-maintained park for all ages to enjoy. It's either you want a nice long flat trail to walk on or a little adventure to ride your bike to practice your mountain bike skills or play some disc golf with your friends or gather your family and friends to enjoy a picnic table, it's capable of providing so much enjoyment for just about anyone. The parks location is so convenient. It's located right across from Cherry Creek State Park so you can walk into it from the park with ease. According to the park's website it offers not just fun activities but nature preservation as well. Got to love that aspect on top of everything that this park is already known for.

The playground itself has five different slides. Just as a side note, it seems like all the new playgrounds in the last 3 years or so maybe longer don't have any monkey bars which is the number one thing that my 5-year-old daughter looks for. I'm sure monkey bars and rings are more liability prone apparatus, but all the newer ones tend to lean towards five and under because they just don't have any playground apparatus that actually builds body strength. Anyone that's been to Paco Sanchez and watched teenagers climbing up the inside of the slide knows what I'm talking about. In hindsight, if I knew that a new playground was going in, I would want to try to put input on increasing apparatus that would lend itself towards the older kids as well.

It's a great choice for little ones and older kids alike. No big drop offs but plenty of areas to climb, slide, swing, and run. They have a fun scavenger hunt you can do as well. There's also a large open field space right by the playground so you can do volleyball, soccer, etc. Several benches, an adult swing, and covered seating options are available as well. Lots of trees and shade which is nice in the summer, but makes the park colder in the winter months. Toilet is basically a hole in the ground which is gross! Let's put real bathrooms in our parks. There's a creek that runs through the area too so that's fun for kids to enjoy in the warmer months.

Spread across 13.3 acres in the heart of Aurora's Rocky Ridge neighborhood , this park earns its reputation as one of the area's best-kept secrets. The grounds are super clean, the grassy areas are huge, and the park itself is just fantastic. Whether you show up with a soccer ball, a picnic blanket, or just a need to decompress, there's a corner of this park that fits. The playground is a standout creative equipment anchored by a dinosaur skeleton climbing structure , plus the usual swings, slides, and monkey bars. A rock wall sits just off to the side near the basketball court , which adds a nice layer for older kids who've outgrown the swings. Six basketball rims give you plenty of room to run a game , and the wide open fields handle everything from pickup soccer to kite flying to a lazy afternoon with a frisbee. When you're ready to eat, a reservable gazebo shelter with charcoal BBQ grills and picnic tables makes it easy to set up a proper outdoor gathering and restrooms are on-site, which is always a win. The varied terrain and xeriscape plantings give the park some visual interest beyond just flat lawn , and big shade trees scattered throughout make hot Colorado summer days genuinely comfortable. One practical note: there's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll be working with street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Come a little early on weekends. Rocky Ridge is best for families with kids of all ages, dog owners, and anyone who wants a real neighborhood park experience not a sterile one. One local even got married here, and it's easy to see why: the scenery and open space lend themselves to moments worth remembering. If you live in Aurora and haven't made it out here yet, you're overdue. This one earns its place in the regular rotation.
