I can already envision my scale climbing, but, for great pizza, that's ok. And kudos to McKenzie for communicating my requests to the kitchen, and for them, for honoring them. Plus McKenzie was such a delight. She greeted us as first time visitors, explained Cinnamon Shores and Dylans, and was attentive and fun. My only recommendation is not to sit outside. I have been traveling to the quaint fishing town of Port Aransas Texas all my life. I went and camped on its beach by myself the first time at 18. I thought I'd explored the entire area and knew every nook and cranny. That is until about twenty years ago,I spotted an interesting structure on top of a dune, casting a glint of sunlight at dawn. I wound my way down a quiet street to where I thought the structure should be. After some searching I found it. Tenetively, I walked a path going behind a house up a grass covered dune. To my surprise it was what looked to be a small church. There was no marker or sign,the door was locked but, I could feel something special about this place. Over a period of years I began to find out about it's history. Originally concieved and built by two Texas woman almost 90 years ago. The tiny chapel has withstood dozens of tropical storms and hurricanes. While other parts of the island have been destroyed and rebuilt many times, just in my life,the chapel stands. In 1972 an artist and University of Texas professor was hired to paint the interior walls. Let me say,Wow! The photographs don't do it justice. In its own simple way I truly place it in the same class of painted churches I've seen right alongside the Sistine Chapel. There's something about this place. Undiscovered by the masses for so long. Perfectly positioned at the highest place on the island. The first few times I visited and " re- found" it,my love for it and amazement grew. Unfortunately due to recent national awareness and exponential growth of Texas,it's no longer a serene visit as in the past. A small parking area has been built and you're likely to run into one to several people. However,if you find yourself in Port Aransas... Go!

A hidden gem among the oaks along thte Texas coast south of Rockport, By the Bay is an island of…read morepeaceful relaxation. It's a well established resort with large shade oaks throughout, roomy concrete rv pads, cottages, a motel, an activity hall, laundry, and showers. Everything is clean and the park is well maintained. Utilitities were reliable, cable TV was provided, and water pressure was good. Many of the rv pads have a patio extension and it looked like there were picnic tables at every pad and in front of every cottage.The cottages, judging by the one we stayed in, are roomy and well equipped with necesssities including a pod coffee maker, kitchen ware, TV, and robust air conditioner to keep you cool in the heat. There is no pool or playground, making this park more suitable for adults only, however, there is a shady fenced dog park those with furry companions. The activity hall has a large selection of books and cds, a TV, folding tables and chairs to support a variety of activities, and a well appointed card table. Best of all, BTB has a wonderful staff who are intent on making your stay as pleasant as possible. After staying a couple of months, we felt like we were leaving behind old friends when we moved on, and we wish them well.
