Before you signanything with this law firm you need to research the definition of padding and tasking on your bills. This law firm charged my daughter 6 times to send . We were rushed due to the judge was ready to gog homea email. 1 time for a thought of sending an email, 2nd time - to type email, 3rd time for a conversation about email, 4th - 5th & 6th time for god knows what. There was no prep for court and court was in the middle of no where - No place to eat a decent meal and court went until 7:30pm with no food or water. Our attorney was not worth the $41,000.00 we were charged. If you are choosing an attorney for anything at all... DO NOT CHOOSE THIS OFFICE!!! You have a better chance defending yourself. This will not be the only review I put out in the world.I will write a letter to the Georiga Law Board and I am blasting this on every social media site I can find and share. If I save 1 (one) person from the finanical burden, emotional heartache, and the complete disappointment of the attorney who was paid an absurd amount of money to do nothing. This law firm should have been an accounting firm not a law firm representing anyone that is dealing with child custody and divorce. I would hate to be the attorney who represented my daughter in a child custody and divorce case. She has to get up eveyday and look herself in the mirror and know that she did not do her job at all. It was a trerrible representation of a case and the attorney was not prepared to do her job. She never fought for her client and she let the judge just push us off the stand because he was ready to go home. The entire process in Georgia court rooms are exhausting and unfair. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS OFFICE!!! DO NOT CHOOSE THIS OFFICE!!! DO NOT CHOOSE THIS OFFICE!!! DO NOT CHOOSE THIS OFFICE!!! DO NOT CHOOSE THIS OFFICE!!! vDO NOT CHOOSE THIS OFFICE!!! This law firm does not provide services that I would recommend. I do not feel that I had proper representation for my divorce. I would have expected some guidance through this process. Instead, this team allowed the clock to run and my divorce cost of over $30,000. If you are looking for proper representation, clear guidance and communication (other than invoices), I would recommend you seek one of Forsyth Counties other family attorney groups. read more

Would not recommend. All this law firm cares about is how much they are billing and in the end the divorce settlement that I have is terrible. Other attorneys have reviewed and they ask me how and why did they allow you to agree to this. read more

They don't even deserve one star. I'm a single mom with three kids two of which are special needs. I hired the firm and gave them everything that I had in terms of money. I was upfront about the amount of money that I had to go to trial. I was promised all sorts of help and you had many consultations and phone consultations about the trial and the details of my case. I had already been to mediation again but I was reassured we were only going there to see what the other side was doing. Then one month before trial they let me know that I ran out of money and withdrew from my case. I pleaded with him not to even told them that I would come up with a way to pay. After my attempts of talking to Mr. Lee Meriwether they abandon me. Now my trial is coming up I am without representation and they have not forwarded me a comprehensive file even though I've asked. read more

I am in the middle of an awful divorce and was told to use Meriwhether & Tharp because they would fight for me. False! I was given false information leading up to my temporary hearing for custody of my 10 year old little girl; as well as directly lied to at the hiring in regards to what I was actually agreeing to. I had 2 witnesses with me who understood one thing and even asked questions in regards to the custody arrangement. My attorney then when I desperately needed her help to fix HER MISTAKE told me there was nothing she could do!! After me calling, emailing insisting she has to fix the mistake- she charged me outrageous amounts of money to put a bandaid over her mistake. Not fixing the life ALTERING error in mine and my child's life! I would say to anyone that they should look elsewhere for representation! Both myself and my child suffered consequences for the misrepresentation giving from this firm. read more

After months & months. Thousands of dollars later, two attorneys later no results. Displeased!

Do not fall fot the fake smiles and fake willingness to help you with your situation. The Reality is they only see you as their personal ATM as they did me. Never made a single court appearance for a non contested short marriage. $12000 in debt to these charlatans! read more

Represented me in post divorce litigation. I needed them more than once, but got more than I ever expected, even though it seemed to take forever. Wish I hadn't needed them, but Deborah Koslin was wonderful, and paralegal Samaria Smith helped keep me sane. She cost half as much as her opponent, but left them in the dust. read more

I spent an entire years salary in legal fees over the course of 15 months with Meriwether & Tharp and in my opinion I have very little to show for it. I did not receive custody arrangements that I was satisfied with, and only a third of my legal fees my ex-husband caused me to incur by dragging out the process, and little more than a quarter of the equity in the home my ex-husband and I had bought together. When I spoke to a partner about how they handled my case she initially apologized but later, when I spoke to her again, she said they did what they could within the parameters of the legal system. This may be accurate, but they did a poor job by not answering my questions and returning my emails. Towards the end Meriwether & Tharp would often avoid any type of communication, once actually not allowing me to even make an appointment to speak to anyone on my legal team. Eventually I had to take a day off to go up to their office and demand to speak to someone regarding my case / to find out why no one would talk to me. An entire years salary in legal fees and nothing to show for it means I either was taken advantage of or had poor legal representation, you can decide which. They never got full discovery, even though I explained he was hiding money and lying about his income; this was later corroborated by his own sister unfortunately after trail. They decided not to bother applying for temporary support, which resulted in me being without financial help caring for my daughter for almost a year. Meriwether & Tharp also misled me on possible settlements until right before trial when they then informed me it would basically be a wash. This meant they had literally been charging me to fight for nothing but encouraging me to do so in the hopes of getting me funds to cover legal fees incurred. My mistake may have been paying my bills in full as they came in and exposing myself as a soft target. These are the more major things that I can remember as it was a very traumatic time in my life. I hired Meriwether & Tharp to protect me and guide me through the process, not guide me to their pockets. Whichever lawyer you choose, protect yourself so you don't end up like I did; chewed up and spit out. Follow up every call with an email covering what you discussed, and keep notes. I did not know that I would need to protect myself against my own lawyers. Please learn from my mistake. read more

Not a subject I really like bringing out to the pubic, but I do feel that as a Yelper, I need to make the community aware. I had an atrocious experience at this firm. It was actually completely inexcusable, incompetent service. I hired an attorney from this firm, Charlotte Ruble, to handle my divorce. Waited close to a month and a half for a hearing, which I was eagerly anticipating. I had asked prior to filing why she was filing in Fulton County when we no longer lived there. She claimed we had not established residency in our current county yet, so that was her explanation. We get to court, and I find out she filed in the WRONG county! So took a day off work, drove downtown...for nothing! Not to mention we had to transfer the case to the correct county, all the while wasting more time and money. You're a divorce attorney and you don't know where to file?! Come on! So understandably upset, I emailed her demanding retribution for a day wasted off work and a drive to a courthouse for nothing after having to battle a ruthless soon to be ex who was doing nonsense like stealing all the silverware from the house so my daughter and I had to use plastic. And to wait over a month for a court date in hopes of getting him out of the house only to find out this incompetent idiot filed in the wrong county! And she had the nerve to send me an email back saying it wasn't her fault he was stealing the silverware and she thought I needed to seek a therapist!! Then her paralegal sends me several emails back and forth about some credit card statements I had given them, and I couldn't figure out why she was sending me my own statements until she realized she thought I was the opposing attorney! Seriously?!?! So I complain to one of the partners, who smooths things over and promises to handle my case with care. Multiple times, I had to wait extended period of times for answers and he was not working proactively to get my case handled. Once, I called to talk to the paralegal, and had to leave a message but later that day, an offer was sent to me for review that had been sent to them five days prior. I got so worried they would delay things that I had to tell my ex to let me know anytime his attorney reached out to mine, so I could follow through. One of the final straws was being told by my attorney, "what am I getting so emotional about? It's a piece of paper left at this point.". Meanwhile, I had to put my stuff in storage because my ex was stealing out of the house, I was spending thousands of dollars trying to get the case finished, and stressing daily over what was going on. It was ridiculous and I finally fired him, too. I have seen and heard advertisements for this practice, but just because you advertise doesn't make you good. I could really go on and on, but bottom line is...go elsewhere. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! read more

My husband decided he wanted a divorce. I called Meriwether & Tharp, LLC and was given advice on my options including counseling to help our marriage not end in a divorce. Charlotte Ruble spent over an hour with me on the exploring all options. I have previously called other divorce attorneys and they would not speak to me unless I made an appointment. So this was out of the norm and I am completely satisfied with what option she gave me. She is still by my side even though I have not met her. I recommend her to anyone who needs help with counseling in their marriage or a divorce. Staci Kimbler read more

After much research my son called Meriwether and Tharp and spoke with Mr. Tharp. He was very impressed with Mr. Tharp. Thinking he was going to represent him he signed up and paid the retainer. He then gets an email stating that Courtney a junior associate will be his attorney. To make a long story short the bottom line is after 5 weeks and almost $5,000. nothing was accomplished. Courtney was never available when he called. She was negative to his needs. She was late in filing papers, which had his wife's attorney withdraw a possible settlement agreement. My son was actually worst off then when he started with Courtney. He now has a new attorney, someone that is willing to fight for his rights, is available when he needs to talk, and the process is moving along nicely. read more

I want to thank Charlotte Ruble for everything she did for me. I called her with an urgent, time sensitive legal need, and she was nice enough to give me free legal advice prior to our consultation. And during our consultation she handled everything very quickly and professionally as well as calmed my fears and addressed my concerns. I could not have asked for a better experience or a better attorney to help me. Thank you so much for your help and kind heart. read more

Attention to detail is important, but during a divorce it is extremely difficult to maintain focus. The process seems overbearing and consuming, seemingly designed to destroy both parties involved. Emotions run high, and good judgement is elusive as confidence erodes. I can honestly say that the best decision made was to engage Meriwether & Tharp. This is a special thanks to all of the staff involved. Their professionalism, courtesy, attention to detail and sound advice helped me stay grounded. They guided me through the complicated process, always striving to ensure the best possible outcome. I highly recommend this team! To Leh, Andrew, Carly and Amy... Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I am so happy that you were in my corner! read more

MT Law recently represented me in a child custody proceeding. The experience was top notch! I have never sought counsel in the past but Charlotte Ruble and her paralegal Andrea Palmer were incredibly understanding and took the time to explain how the proceedings would work while helping to assuage my fears and emotions. Charlotte kept our conversations focused and meaningful to maximize our time. She was an absolute pro in and out of the courtroom. I am forever grateful that my daughter now safely resides with me and wish to express my gratitude towards both of them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Highly Recommended! read more

MT Law recently represented me during divorce proceedings regarding distribution of assets and debts with a litigious ex-spouse. They provided outstanding legal advice and representation throughout, and the judge ruled in my favor after the courtroom proceedings. I was very pleased with all aspects of their legal services -- including legal strategy, courtroom argumentation, and communication and responsiveness. I highly recommend MT law firm to handle your divorce. read more

I had a great experience with Meriwether and Tharp. My attorney was in constant communication with me throughout the whole process. I made out better in the end that what was expected. We didn't have any kids, nor a lot of assets to divide, but I always felt like I was important and settling my divorce was a priority for them. I can't say enough good things about them. In the end, I got what I deserved and I would recommend them to anyone who is having to deal with a divorce. read more

HORRIBLE representation in my divorce. After charging me thousands of dollars and only getting through the first mediation session, there was no strategy to fight for my rights and no end in sight. I therefore fired my M&W attorney and went with another firm. I highly recommend that you find someone else that fights for you and does not "roll over" to the opposing counsel. read more

Leh & team represented me during a trying time as I went through a divorce. I cannot think of a better team of he, Andrew, & Laura, in addition to his support staff (Amy!) to handle these types of things. I'm glad I had their expertise and character to lean on during this process! read more

I would recommend Charlotte Ruble to anyone looking for a divorce attorney. Charlotte gave me advice during my divorce that I frankly didn't want to hear or accept at the time. Looking back on it over a year after the divorce, she was absolutely right. The emotions of divorce can serve to blind your judgment, and Charlotte has the courage to tell you things that you might not want to hear but that you need to hear. read more

As if a divorce is not painful enough, discovering the legal team that you have hired is incompetent makes it an unbearable process. Going into the process, I thought I hired the right team for their experience & reputation (great marketing) only to discover error after error after error! The most disturbing fact here is my divorce was a fairly SIMPLE, uncontested divorce; however, due to their errors, they made it more complicated. From drafting my divorce papers using someone else's divorce case (what appeared to be copy/paste), to billing mistakes: being overcharged, incorrectly billed and duplicate charges found on my invoices. I provided my team with detailed information regarding my case and on several occasions, I had to resubmit the information because they did not properly document the communication. Sloppy work is an understatement of this firms care and due diligence. I have many regrets about hiring this team and DO NOT RECOMMEND them. read more

Todd Orston was the best attorney I could've asked for, and he was worth every penny. My divorce had some complex issues that required a lot of strategy work, and he was always full of good ideas. He is realistic and extremely helpful. He is always good natured, and he even helped me after hours a few times when I had urgent matters regarding custody issues with my daughter. He is the consummate professional and a rock star in negotiations. He didn't charge me unnecessarily, and he made sure to weigh costs when working through our different options with me. Lisa Marie was also very helpful and provided a lot of help with questions I had, especially when drafting my proposed settlement offer and investigating equity arguments. The staff at M&T were all courteous and helpful as well. Meriwether & Tharp, LLC provided real, grounded advice during an extremely difficult time in my life, and I will be forever grateful for their representation in my divorce. read more
