My wife and I have been using Meritage for at least 12 years. We are in our 80's and have are least 8 specialists that we go to. Most are excellent. I had radiation treatment for cancer over 6 years ago, a gall bladder operation and both of us have had excellent PT on several occasions. We have never been denied what we needed. I see the compaints about Meritage billing. The billing, as well as what services are provided, is dependent on one's insurance company and what they have contracted with Meritage. My insurance is Medicare and SCAN which is the primary. One person wasn't able to find Meritage as being registered with the Secretary of State. I do SOS searches all the time for my business and the have been registered as Meritage ACO, LLC. read more

Meritage should NOT be in the business of peoples health care. They are Negligent, profits over patient care and trying to get out of network authorizations is abusive and extremely hostile imo. Not enough providers in network who are specialists. They referred to doctors who are anywhere from a 40 minute drive to 21/2 hour drive. It takes hours to contact them. They are not patient centered just trying to talk to someone or to navigate there authorization protocols. I am leaving my health insurance provider because Meritage , their medical network, has negatively impacted my health with delayed care and stress of dealing g with their NOT patient centered system. Meritage is NOT performing any service that I can see. They appear to be a third-party billing business, but my providers are not being paid after my insurance submits claims. On June 19 I received a bill for services provided on 12/12/24 that was processed by Humana on 12/29/24. On 3/11/25, the bill went to Meritage for payment, never to be heard from again. I just spent more than an hour with an excellent agent at Humana who made several attempts to resolve the situation, but the phone number for Meritage does not work, so she finally called the radiology group to explain what is going on, and that I am fully covered for the services. She also gave them a physical address for Meritage so they can send bills by mail since they don't have a working phone. It is now six months since the medical visit, and my providers have not been paid. In addition, all of us have had to expend additional time and resources trying to collect payments. Worse, the company is clearly in the business of charging fees which we are all paying - for nothing. I have written to all my providers to alert them to this situation. Imagine how many hundreds of patients are going through the same frustration, and how many may be paying bills they don't owe. None of us signed up for Meritage. We all got happy little welcome letters after choosing an insurance plan from a bona fide company. read more

Office experience Horrendous experience with this network office. I called at 9:10 AM. I finally got through at 9:40 and was told the system was about to go down to a an update. I complained and they said I was insulting and hung up. My actual healthcare is excellent. However, the network is owned by very bad people in England called Babylon. They clearly are in trouble- chapter 7 bankrupty. That's involuntary liquidation. This office is clearly not a priority. I want to stress this is the only bad experience in six years. To save money, my doctor's office doesn't use EKG or treadmill. For stress test, they just have patients call Meritage and try to get thru to anyone. The frustration is a PERFECT stress test. Today, the automated voice said to wait 5 minutes. 10 minutes later, it announced my wait time was now (another) 11 minutes. Beautiful! And throughout the wait, annoying messages about mammograms - I guess they could tell I'm a guy. After 26 minutes, I hung up. I had been calling to try to fix their mistake. read more

Signed up for an Aetna HMO based on the doctors in the provided network list of Primary Care physicians.The two doctors I was interested told me that they have not honored Meritage for over a year and that Meritage knows this fact. If they can't even maintain a list of current providers what else "can't" they do. This is very frustrating as It is very hard to find a PCP in Marin county, and I chose my plan based on the providers they supplied. Because of this I had to change my insurance plan. read more

For those of you using Meritage I found they do NOT pay in full preventative services bills. They billed me for 2 separate invoices amounts that were minimal $15. and $35.00 BUT not my responsibility. The best way to deal with them is to turn them to the department of insurance for an investigation. read more

I have been waiting for an Authorization since January 30th and its February 22nd. I called Meritage and I was put on hold for supposedly 5 minutes, then they play that recording about COVID and please get your flu vaccine so that the medical hospitals and offices can take care of the people with the virus. Their first opening sentence is "At Meritage we're concerned about your health". Well when an agent finally got on the phone, she told me that my authorization was still under review, because it was written routine. I asked her could she change it to Urgent? You know what she said? "it's too late".Now if they were really concerned about my health, she would say now let me call your specialist and see if I can make that Urgent. She said your doctor put in for authorization on February 14th. I said and its been 10 days and she says "we have 14 days" I said and you are going to utilize all 14 days? Oh and I want to say that i was on hold for an hour and a half for her to spend 10 seconds with me saying well i'm sorry "we have 14 days" Well I don't I'm going out of town on the 28th. Right now I'm just venting but I need to file a complaint. OF course they'll make the appt. when I'm out of town. If I'm not in too much pain to go out of town.I am very disappointed with Alignment and Meritage. read more

Meritage does not do what they say or promise. They were supposed to send $15 gift cards to patients if you make an annual wellness visit with your primary care doctor. My appointment was completed in October 2020 and they were supposed to send out the cards by the end of December 2020. After calling them 4 times from October to January and continually being told "next week", "next month" and 2 postal mail letters, no response has been received. They should not make promises (in printed form!) they do not intend to keep. Unfortunately, being part of specific Medical Networks is not a choice for patients. read more

I have same kind of problem like KO had although my case is not life threatening. I had a foot injury and waited authorization to get a motorized chair or scooter. They gave me authorization and phone numbers of the stores I need to call and get it. First time they gave me one number, but this store only take care of repair. Second time they gave me two numbers. One is out of service, and the other one only sell, not rent. These three numbers were over one hour away from my home. I called Meritage again 14 TIMES!!!! and got a number close to my home. But this store no longer take any insurance. At this point it already took two weeks since I got the first authorization. I needed to go back to work, so I asked new authorization for a manual wheelchair because I thought it must be easier to get. Again I have been waiting another two weeks. I keep bugging them, but they don't even schedule the delivery saying "it's in a process". I missed work for a month because of their terrible business. I talked with four different persons of Meritage on the phone, but only one person was reasonably nice. Others had a awful, rude customer service. I will change my health insurance next year. If you have only Meritage through your insurance, you need to change it too. Without wheelchair, I will lose 6 weeks pay until I get my cast off. It's ridiculous!!! read more

If this is your only option, go uninsured instead. Seriously. Run for the hills. No one ever knows anything, including who to transfer you to on the phone. In fact, you may very well be transferred to someone without knowing it like I was! Suddenly, after being on hold for 15 minutes while Roxie "researched" my question, I found myself leaving a voicemail for someone called Kelly. Diversion. Good strategy. Need a developmental pediatrician? Sorry. They only have one. And they're not taking new patients. Want to schedule your yearly physical at a time that's convenient? Tough. Because, even though you were last seen in 2017, you have to wait until AT LEAST 12 months after that visit to get them to pay for it. They should change "Meritage" to "Maze" because that's what it feels like; they have entire departments devoted to making sure you are so confused that you just give up and pay for everything yourself. read more

These people are a scam. Do not chose them as your provider. They are not registered with the California Secretary of State and they deny all benefits and claims. Four Doctors including spine surgeons, primary care doc, ordered MRI's but they denied based on medical necessity. I had to pay cash and was told I need immediate surgery to save my arms and legs from paralysis but they are denying. I am now suing them. read more

Please be very careful before choosing Meritage Medical Network. My father was recently diagnosed with liver cancer and we have spent 2 months waiting for Meritage to authorize each required CT and/or PETscan. During this time the tumor has grown larger and we are now being told it may not be operable. We were at UCSF today and the surgeon needed a clearer CT Scan and we tried for hours to get Meritage to authorize this while we were there but were told "we have 72 hours to authorize this." Imagine you have liver cancer and are very ill - travel to SF and you can't get "authorized." I'm sure they will "authorize" it in another 3 days but what a toll on my father to make another trip to SF. This is the time that you really need your insurance company to be there for you so please know that you won't get this with Meritage. Very sad time for our family and we are shocked at this treatment and all the red tape. read more
