Ok. Updating my 1st review. I have now had X-rays and exam, a deep cleaning and 3 fillings. Today will mark the end of my dental work for the year as I maxed out my insurance. This office has been nothing short of terrific. Everyone I have dealt with is kind and gentle and brutally honest. There is lots left to do with my mouth including a periodontist visit when my insurance is reloaded in January. Due to years with a sub par dentist ( willow pass dental) I now have to continue to fix and deal with the lack of care and professionalism. Have already scheduled appointments in January. I really feel like I can trust this dentist. Just today they helped me to figure out scheduling to save me some $. Last dentist would not have done that. While nobody I know looks forward to the dentist, I am happy to have found an office I feel comfortable with. read more

Dr. Chen is great! He is a friendly guy, knows his stuff, and never tries to oversell you any new gimmicky scans / screens or procedures which a lot of Dentists have done in the past to me. He also knows when to refer out; I had a retreated root canal that got infected again and saw the Endodontist he partners with. That endodontist was also honest and said I needed a referral to get a dental implant instead so I'm in the process of all of that. His staff is very friendly and on top of things. I get constant reminder text messages and confirmations. They are also helpful about checking dental insurance and upfront about all procedural costs. I've seen two of their hygienists regularly and they are both nice and thorough. Highly recommend this dentist if you live nearby. I've been going since I moved here 6 years ago. Only downside is no weekend openings. read more

I was a new patient and arrived early as requested to fill out my intake forms, which only took a few minutes to complete but I wasn't called in until 25 minutes after my appointment time. Several established patients arrived after me and were immediately seen. This office requires that the initial appointment be an oral health examination only - cleanings are separate appointments. The exam went smoothly, with the tech doing my bite-wing x-rays and a scan of my teeth before the dentist came in. Dr. Chen was calm, friendly, and very thorough. He walked me through his findings and gave me a straightforward plan for addressing the issues. I asked about having some old fillings replaced and he said there was no rush. I was scheduled for 3 follow-ups after that (including the cleaning) and each time, I was seen very promptly. The cleaning was the best I've ever had and each cavity I had filled was done comfortably and recovered with no pain or sensitivity afterward. I am so glad I found this office and look forward to having all of my dental work done here from now on! read more

I must agree with some of the reviews about the rude and snarky woman at the front desk. She seems to have some unmistaken personality issues and speaks in an unwelcoming and blaming manner which seems to be a blind spot for her. I do NOT recommend this place for children, even older children. The dentist was dismissive and insensitive and said something to the likes of "your daughter is fine - if the parent is nervous she will be nervous." My daughter has a sensory processing issue and she told me she has nightmares about her experience with the dentist because he was too cold maybe in the interest of "professionalism." I'm sure he is generally competent, but definitely had to seek care elsewhere. The office is clean and has a professional appearance and other staff were fine. read more

Prior to coming to Meridian, I had not seen a dentist for years. I have now been attending for exactly one year and the difference in my oral health is night and day compared to a year ago. I was diagnosed with a couple of cavities, need of a deep clean, and a crown replacement. Now my oral health is probably the best it's been in a long time and it's all thanks to everyone at Meridian. I used to think the idea of the dentist was intimidating but I actually enjoy coming here. The atmosphere they have here is really warm and welcoming. Marina at reception was the first person I contacted and helped me get everything set up. She was able to squeeze me in for my first consultation as a new patient and I'll always be grateful for that. She's very sweet, welcoming, and always fun to talk to. Fritz has been my hygienist for this last year and she's very cool, super sweet, and just an overall wholesome person. She handled all of my initial deep cleanings and currently also my regular cleanings. She's very fun to talk to and she helped me feel relaxed for all of my treatments. She's also very supportive and let's me know how well I'm maintaining my teeth. Our conversations are always a pleasure and time just flies by. Very skilled in what she does and I'm glad to be paired with her. My cavities and crown replacement was taken care of by Yesenia, Susana, and Dr Chen. All three of them are really nice and do their best to accommodate you. Dr Chen is very kind and answers your questions/concerns informatively. I also appreciate his honesty (as all doctors should be) from day one. He broke down everything I had to go under and explained the risk if I didn't pursue treatment. I have a lot of respect for him and you can also see that from among his staff. I only have good things to say about this place and will continue to do so. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST. I should have listened to my instinct the first time I came here. When I first came here, he said there are teeth that need to be fixed (though I feel the same as before - I don't feel any pain and there is no bad smell at all). He also said the crown that was recently done was not done well. I became skeptical because my previous dentist said the crown was done very well (it was done by a different dentist). I also never had any issues with my teeth (all healthy) with my previous dentist who I see every 6 mos. Anyway I still let Dr. Chen fixed all. During the procedure for one of the front tooth, I was horrified coz there was a big hole on my front tooth (which I thought was a healthy tooth)! They didn't tell me that they have to put a hole on my tooth! I've gotten fillings before and I don't think you literally have to put a big hole on my tooth and replace it with a filling (considering I know that tooth is healthy!!!) They didn't explain that to me! If I had known I wouldn't have done it since I was skeptical anyway. I have a nightguard from my previous dentist but he said I should get the nightguard for the upper front teeth only to help ease the pain in my jaw (I clench). I agreed to it. During the measurement, I was confused because the assistant was measuring all my teeth so I asked. The assistant went to Dr. Chen (he didn't see me at all) and she came back and said that Dr. Chen said either nightguard works. Is he serious??? He doesn't even know which one I'm there for. It shows that he is only doing it for the money. He doesn't really care about his patients. If either works then why ask me to get a new nightguard if I have an existing one already. I should have known better and stop seeing that doctor. What's really keeping me from leaving is because they are open on Saturdays. I went back there last month for cleaning and he said one of my back tooth should be fixed coz it will be a problem. I'm so skeptical why he always have something to "fix" so this time I thought of getting a second opinion. I asked them for my medical records on Sept 16 (Sunday) through email and they responded on Sept 17 saying I need to fill out the release form which I did and sent it back to them right away (same day). Subsequently, I also asked them to cancel my appt for the procedure. After multiple follow-ups they called me on Oct 2 saying I should fill out the release form. I missed the call so I emailed back right away and told them I have sent them the form on Sept 17 . Never heard back from them. Called them and left a voicemail. Followed up through emails. Nothing. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST. I will go back to my previous dentist even if the location is an hour away. Please see the pictures below for my follow up emails. They have not responded even up to now. I sent an email about a few hours ago telling them to respond and that this is unacceptable. Again, I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST. What I witnessed today at Meridian Dental was disgusting. The blatant disrespect that Dr. Chen was showing to one of his employees was like nothing I've ever experienced. While I sat waiting for my appointment that ran 30 minutes late, Dr. Chen came out to the reception area and spoke to one his employees in such a degrading, condescending and sexist manor that I will NOT be paying for his services for myself or my spouse any longer. He spoke to this employee in this way in front of myself and two other employees. I got up and walked out, never to return. My only regret is not speaking up and saying something to his face in front of those employees. Maybe I just have more tact than he does. Take your business elsewhere, this man is a creep. read more

So far, we like Meridian Dental. It's in a convenient location close to Nob Hill Foods and there is always easy parking. The staff and the dentist there are all friendly and incredibly fast and efficient at what they do. The equipment appears new and up to date. My only complaint is that scheduling here can be very tricky, as they have stopped doing Saturday appointments and they had us schedule multiple appointments for things that you would think they should be able to do in one session. I had separate appointments for x-rays/new patient, cleaning, filling #1, filling #2. We are staying patients there for now, but may be unable to in the future if this is a trend. read more

Dr Chen did a great job on my root canal, but what he did to my 4 year old son was boredline criminal./ Dr. Chen should never be allowed to practice dentistry on children. He has on concept of how much to medicate nor how much work to do on a small child. I had to rush my son to URGENT CARE after seeing Dr. Chen - he got an infected salaiva glad after Dr Chen over medicated him and then insisted on doing 2 fillings the lower jaw of a small child. Their office and equipment is modern, and professional. They request that you fill out a questionnaire which helps them assess any preexisting medical issues which might arise while you are under their care.
