I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you are in the renovated portion of the building. The old portion is somewhat dirty (the bathroom smelled) and lacking in many areas. The lighting is extremely poor, and you have to open the curtains (which puts you on display) to see anything. However, compared to the prices of the other hotels in the area, it is reasonable, and the new section of the hotel is quite nice.

There's not a lot going on directly at the hotel but it's about a 10-15 minute walk to the canal/shops/restaurants (walk through the train station). There are bars and restaurants in the hotel serving drinks and meals. The food was good and service was also good. Parking is available on premise and it's nice to walk around the grounds of this hotel. A gem of a hotel in town and one I would definitely stay in again.

They even rent you a bike if you want to go out and do some sightseeing on your own. It is not too close to the city but if you can ride like 4 miles, you will be ok. What I did not realize was the completely desolate location. Located in an office park, there are no restaurants, gas stations or convenience stores nearby. while riding a bicycle 4 miles might have been fun fifty years ago, I was not interested in a rainy night ride, so I called one of thr local, hotel recommended, pizza delivery options. I was told I would need to place the order with hotel reception. I called reception and was told that they would call back in a minute to take my order. Nearly an hour later I called to enquire, and was informed that they had forgotten. 45 minutes later a really good pizza arrived. There was no soap or shampoo in the bathroom, only a dispenser of some sort of liquid in the shower and by the sink. I remember these soap dispensers from elementary school. It's been a long time since I stayed in a room of this category that lacked a refrigerator or mini-bar. I don't think the single cup ice dispenser in the lobby makes up for the deficiency.
