Flatiron Advisors Tax & Accounting

Flatiron Advisors Tax & Accounting

It is a pleasure to work with Flatiron Advisors. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and…read moreefficient. They add a distinctly human touch to what is ordinarily an impersonal and objectifying process.

I had a good experience with Flatirons Advisors in 2024, but I'm updating my review because my 2025…read moreexperience was very negative and I can no longer recommend them. I have complicated crypto taxes and did my best to communicate this from the start, including a 45-minute call with Steve specifically about my crypto taxes before my 2024 return was filed. I made clear that the documents I sent, including a Schedule 1, were generated by my crypto tax software. In 2025, I discovered that the Schedule 1 income I provided had been left off my 2024 return. Steve never asked me what it was, never requested supporting documentation, and never told me he was omitting it. He simply left it off silently. When I raised it, he claimed he hadn't known I had complicated crypto taxes, which I believe is false and I have messages with the firm showing we discussed it. He also declined to prepare my 2025 return due to the crypto complexity, leaving me to find a new preparer on short notice. When I requested a refund of my 2024 prep fee, he refused unless I provided evidence of the income's source. While compiling that, I found that a mistake in my tax software had overstated the figure, and that the corrected amount was lower. I decided the refund wasn't worth pursuing, and I'm having the amendment handled by another firm. Steve was right to question the number. But the professional response was to ask for documentation before filing, not to silently drop income off a return without a word to the client. At no point did he acknowledge any mistake or take any accountability. In my opinion, that handling was not what a client should expect from a tax preparer, and based on my experience, I can't recommend them.

My wife and I have been ABL&Co small business and individual tax clients since 2021. I cannot tell…read moreyou how happy we were to finally find "our" accountants in Colorado. The team at ABL&Co is knowledgeable, professional, and they are true partners for us and our small business. They are great at what they do, and we've also learned a lot from their expertise. Also, we switched to ABL&Co after working with a couple other accountants in the Denver metro area--it was a true night and day change. They handle monthly bookkeeping and payroll for our small business that supports 18 people, along with our complicated annual personal tax return that includes stock grants, rental properties, many W-2s and 1099s, and a whole lot more. Whatever we throw at ABL&Co, they handle it with incredible attention to detail, which we previously learned is not the case with many other accountants in the area. If you've had that experience in the past, your money life will be drastically better working with ABL&Co. Since we started with ABL&Co, our small business has grown from 4 to 18 people, and all their work has been critical to our ability to expand the business with confidence. While we do the small business work on our end, their insights and experience guide our decisions and have helped us keep things on track through all the highs and lows of owning a fast-growing small business. When I say they've been a partner to us, I really mean that. Also, we make a point to work with people who we genuinely enjoy working with. The team at ABL&Co is friendly, responsive, and always treats us like we're their most important client. If you're looking for accountants for your business, contact ABL&Co. You'll be so happy (and maybe VERY relieved in some cases) that you also found your accountants in the Denver area.

I wish I could give them less than 0 stars. They are disgustingly expensive and manipulative when…read moreit comes to billing. Multiple times they would take it upon themselves to do "out of scope work" that wasn't requested, then billed me $200/hour for it. They'd always find ways to nickel and dime me. I even had an end-of-year meeting with them, in which they provided zero input about my financials, but decided to have 3 accountants on the call, and billed us $1000 for it. The absolute worst firm!

We hired this accounting firm for over six years and deeply regret it. They tried charging us…read more$25000 just to handle our PPP loan forgiveness paperwork when most firms charge $1,000-$3,000.-on average. This level of overcharging is unacceptable and feels exploitative, particularly during a time when small businesses were struggling for survival. Furthermore, the yearly accounting and filing fees were consistently excessive, without justification or transparency. More importantly, at no point were we properly advised or educated on how to maximize tax codes, credits, and deductions available to us. As a result of this lack of professional guidance, we have since learned that our business likely missed opportunities to save millions of dollars. On top of that, their yearly filing fees were astronomical, and we never received any real tax planning advice. We later learned that their lack of guidance and failure to educate us on available tax strategies likely cost our business millions in potential savings. Their practices feel predatory, and we cannot recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy, transparent accountants.
