I write this review with tears of happiness! I broke my pelvis 4 years ago and with covid and life never really got good PT. I'm also a swimmer and it appears that my body did some neat little adaptive redesigning to keep me swimming all these years with an injury until one day, a few months ago, my hip said "no way" and my leg gave out walking down the stairs. The pain in my hip was insane - had to use crutches, and slipped into a massive depression. Enter Dr. Mike. First, he is almost too knowledgable (!) and as a former athlete himself I find myself asking him hundreds of questions which he warmly and patiently answers even though I'm sure I'm making him crazy! Most importantly, he's the real deal - this isn't "crack your back" and be off with you - this is "its going to hurt like hell but I'm going to push and prod until I get your body back to its literal right and best shape" .... (yea, it hurts. And it hurts for a few days after - he says ice!) but even knowing his fingers of steel are going to work their magic in a most painful way, I still literally almost do a Tigger the Tiger bounce right into his office each time ... because after only 3 treatments I basically have restored full mobility to my hip and went for my first swim this week after months of sitting on the couch in pain. HOORAY!!!! Everyone should see this man even if you are not an athlete, and if you are, then run... or in my case limp in and I promise you in a few weeks you will be running or lapping your way back to joy! read more

I have had lower back pain on-and-off for the past year or so. I have a regular chiropractor in San Diego, but I happened to be in LA for a week for an event and my lower back started giving me trouble. I can t even remember how many times Mike has fixed my sports related injuries in the past five years. He s a miracle worker and I m just getting old, but he keeps on adjusting, curing and aligning my body back to perfection. I m getting treated right now got a sprained knee, and we are keeping my lower back hernia in check, I don t eve feel it. The secret is to be consistent and go steadily, not letting too much time pass between one session and the next one. I recommended him to friends and family members and we have all been satisfied. This place is a little hidden gem off Holloway in Weho. The staff is really personable and easy on the eyes I must say. I hesitate to give too good of a review because then I may not be able to get in with the ease that I am accustom to on short notice. I've really gotten into taking the workout classes that are offered in the back studio. It's a very private environment. I HATE gyms so this is perfect for me. The treatments are also pretty great. Dr Mensah is the man. Super knowledgeable and kind, Dr Mensah Fixes / healed issues in a holistic way quicker than any doctor. Fun fact if you're an athlete - he trained with Usain Bolt. Unlike many doctors in LA who push for more and more follow up appointments, Dr Mensah fixes issues effectively in often just a few appointments. The fee for first time patients is well worth it as you will see after one appointment. Fees are roughly half first time for each follow up. Very fair on insurance which covered half my fee. read more

Thank you BuzzFeed for introducing me to Dr Mike and Uplift!! Been coming here for a little over a year now. Going to a new chiropractor can be scary at first but Dr Mike is easy going, does a super thorough assessment, and explains everything he is doing and why he is doing it so you feel super comfortable when he's making your body make some crazy cracking sounds! Massages here are also excellent. The massage really focuses on your problem areas and works together with the adjustments that Dr Mike makes which I really appreciate. Dr Mike even had Liticia my massage therapist sit in on my appt with him to get a better idea of the areas to target and why certain muscles are tight. Easy to see what appt slots are available on the Mind Body app and book through there so I can schedule a massage and chiro back to back. Def some later appts too which is helpful for getting there after work. Parking can be tough sometimes but there are a few spots in the back and street/metered parking. If you feel tight at all, any back/neck pain, or even sit or stand for long periods of time, I'd highly recommend going to Dr Mike and the rest of the Uplift staff. I found out about Dr. Mensah from a buzzfeed video. Something about the video made me say hey, I wanna go there. My initial contact had some follow thru lost and I sort of forgot about going. Then one day my normal Chiropractor basically stood me up. So out of desperation of wanting to be seen the same day I reached out to Uplift. When I called I was pretty demanding and basically would not take no for an answer and wanted a same day appointment. Surprisingly it worked. I had pain pressing my nerve so I had the nerve to press for the same day appointment. (Yes, pun intended) This is a text/email friendly office which makes things super convenient! So I get there and a smiley face was there to greet me! Sammie was super genuine and helpful. Michael who handles all the decisions was sitting on the couch conducting business, but it didn't bother me. He chit chatted with me in between his phone holding. The couch in the waiting area doesn't feel like it's for long term sitting but I made it through all my new patient paperwork and finally made it in with Dr. Mensah. Ohhhh you think Sammie's smile is big and bright, Dr. Mensah gives her a run for the money. (Can you tell I like smiley faces?) So after the typical New patient hundreds of questions Dr. Mensah got to work. Oh em geeee! So I've been to my fair share of chiros, so I think I'm a pretty good judge of this. Dr Mensah is fab! Now here's what is creepy to me. (Yes, You're gonna think I'm crazy) the cracking he does is so friggin amplified. So I've been to a holistic chiro who doesn't crack (yes, it's effective) and I've been to a bunch who crack but their cracks seem so quiet. It's like Dr. Mensah finds deep bone cracking. I promise with every crack I'm a little nervous after hearing it, thinking Oh my gosh will that part of my body still work? But the best part is after I feel so great. You never KNOW how much you need a chiropractor UNTIL you have had a good one and then don't keep up with the treatment every so often. Now after all this cracking Dr. Mensah will give you exercises to help. DO THEM they work :) I had a massage with Jamie. Funny thing she is so soft spoken, nice but gently brutal with your massage. Now don't get me wrong, this massage wasn't so much for relaxing, it was a treatment massage with concentration on parts Dr. Mensah wanted to work on. I like massages that are as DEEP as possible, but a couple of times during the massage for my treatment felt like I was going to crack all my teeth from gritting them. Lol but seriously after I really felt improvement and I will happily do it again. Of course the uncomfortable part came from the issues I was having so every bit of it was needed. So yes, this is my new chiropractic home. If you can't drive or don't park well, the parking lot here is a doozy and you'll have a difficult time. It's West Hollywood so there will be no street parking and of course traffic going there no matter what time of the day it is will be ugly. That's the only bad thing I can say about Uplift, but not so bad if you live in Los Angeles you're use to it. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Mike Mensah for a few months now and he is the best chiropractor I have been to! I have scoliosis which causes me back pain everyday and each time I visit I feel better and better. Not the same old routine everytime you visit, he really takes the time to listen to you and address your needs at every visit. I always leave feeling so great and refreshed. They play really relaxing spa music that I love and the office is clean and comfortable. In real life this clinic changed my life. First good energy is really important to me. Some people use that for like BS. For me good energy is really important and this is a place no matter how your days going when you walk in you get fresh Fiji water and people are speaking to you and listening and everyone is just really friendly and cares. It kinda of feels like you walked into a secret Garden zone Dr. Mike the chiropractor. Is super amazing. I was in a car crash things were looking really bleak this was about three months ago. He put me on this amazing program and although I'm still recovering he helped me make drastic improvements physically and psychologically. Then massage and acupuncture two different things but they're both super wonderful. Once I was in China and had a massage for blind man. When he was massaging me he knew my whole medical history and it was like a spiritual experience. I feel like the massage and acupuncture here is the closest thing I've had to that experience in the states. Everyone who works here is connected it with the body and will help you in an intuitive medical way. I'm most important thing to know is once you go here you're really join the family of people that genuinely care about your Health. Barlow Clinic is amazing! Staff are very professional and knowledgeable I went and saw Dr Mike after I had experienced numbing pain in my right leg for months. Being a collegiate athlete who was going through serious physical boundries, I thought my running career was coming to an end at only 22 years old. When I was told about the Barlow clinic and how successful their previous clients have been I had to schedule an appointment immediately. I was suffering from a serious Achilles injury that was taking a toll on my daily activities let alone trying to run at a competitive level again. The second I walked in I knew that things were going to turn around for me. the environment and energy in the office is outstanding. The entire staff at Uplift is amazing!! They really take care of their clients and the experience is exceptional. I came in to see Dr. Mike because I had done something to my lower back and couldn't stand up straight. He went right to work with combinations of stimulation, muscle manipulation, and finally adjustments to get me back on track. He gave me exercises to do at home and before working out to help strengthen the muscles so that I could avoid the same injury. I saw him a few times over the next 2 weeks because the muscle was still tight and every time I left the office, I felt better!! I was visiting my friend in LA while I pulled a muscle in my lower back. There is nothing worse than getting injured while away from home and without your normal chiropractor. Luckily my friend referred me to Dr. Mike Mensah who was able to work me into his schedule for some treatment. As someone who has been seeing chiropractors on and off for 10 years, I can honestly say he is one of the very best! He was extremely thorough in identifying the root cause of my pain and did a wonderful job explaining the mechanics of what was happening. The treatment was excellent which included some electro stimulation, massage, and adjustment. He also taught me some exercises to do for my core to help prevent further injury. Since discovering this place because of my shoulder pain, I started coming regularly for their fitness classes. It's been three months now that I've been taking four classes a week and I'm loving it.
