I struggled to find food I loved in Hamburg, but was very grateful to find Vapiano on our last…read morenight in town. They have a "unique" (read: totally unnecessary) ordering system wherein you're handed a card, then you walk from station to station ordering either pizza, pasta, salad, or dessert, and they add the cost to your card. At the end, you pay the balance you've stacked up and leave. I don't get this. Is it to appear trendy and cutting edge? Does it subliminally encourage people to spend more cash? Whatever the reason, I think the inconvenience of it outweighs it, but they seem to be successful, so what do I know.
I ordered the salami pizza, an order of bruschetta, and tiramisu. The pizza was ok - I was impressed at the speed with which it was done. The bruschetta was AWESOME and I super appreciated that they had a small order - two pieces of bread with delicious tomatoe-y goodness atop it. If it were any bigger, I wouldn't have had it to accompany my food. Finally, the tiramisu was a FANTASTIC size, pre-made in a low-ball glass and tasted fresh enough. My whole meal was relatively inexpensive and I left full and satisfied!
