My friends and I had a reservation at 1930 (when they open) and there was already a line waiting for a table. Extremely allergen friendly. It offers traditional service that was once the normal experience of Spanish restaurants but now becoming a relic of the distant past. We came across this accidentally searching Yelp but with long outdated information hence we were both surprised and enthralled by the service, quality of both food & wine and the ambiance that we rebooked to visit two days later. Fresh perfectly cooked seafood on both occasions. Great starters .....Alcachofas with Iberico Jamon and Baked or grilled (?) Asparagus, Fish: Rodaballo & Lubina Espalda. Reservations essential! We were staying nearby so it was just a 10 minute walk. On our next visit to Valencia we will make a point of returning.

Out of Country Review - Spain…read more Had lunch at La Paz on Wednesday afternoon. A perfectly fine option when at the beach, but nothing warranting an independent visit. Quality: The food was better than you may expect from a beachfront restaurant, but not something that needs to be experienced. The Grilled Octopus was okay, overwhelming in terms of oil. The Toasted Bread was one of the weakest we had during our visit. The Paella Valenciana had positive aspects, but got a little burnt, creating some unsatisfying bites. The Sangria was sweet, so be careful if you prefer a drier version. Quantity: Large portion sizes. Value: Decent prices. Ambiance: La Paz is a seafood restaurant located on the boardwalk near the beach in Valencia. The setup is a bit deceptive as they keep several tables open near the front, only to lead you deeper into the restaurant saying the front ones are reserved. The view still exists inside, though much more obstructed than hoped for. Crowd: The outdoor area was filled, inside empty. Service: Friendly.

We then shared the pollo alajillo which was chicken cooked in its own juice topped with loads of garlic. Also incredibly savory! We polished off our lunch with the paella mariscos (seafood paella) which was as good as other reviewers described it. The best part of paella's is the crispy rice called soccarat in Spanish. Make sure to scrape every grain off the pan, you won't regret this!! Service was spot on! Our server kept checking in on us and he graciously took a photo of our group by ensuring we had the best angle. Is this a touristy spot? Maybe. But the food sure tasted like locals would enjoy it!

We had a salad with squid, ham and dried tomatos, it was ok but nothing special, the squid was a bit chewy. The buñuelo de bacalao (codfish croquet) was very good and served with tasty all I oli. The mackerel with eggplant with soja and honey was delicious, a perfect surprising combination The caneloni of cooked meat with a mushroom sauce was nice. The mango panacota with vanilla was jummie!! The waiters were kind but they did not give a very good explanation about the dishes. I asked several waiters about the ingredients they used and they were not well informed about them. A pity because during restaurant week I think you should know your menu and explain to represent your restaurant.

The dish was brought out after a short wait and it didn't disappoint. The chicken and rabbit were both cooked to perfection. A very tasty dish indeed. We ended the meal with a traditional Valencia dessert. The Torrija Horchata was delicious. A fried bread smothered in orchata and a side of ice cream. When I found out our cruise was going to stop in Valencia, Spain I knew that we had to have paella…read more I love paella, and to have it in the birthplace of the original paella was a dream come true. But how do we know where to get the best paella... Ask the best driver, of course. On our way into town I was able to strike up a conversation with our bus driver who, once I asked him about the best paella, immediately pointed us in the direction of La Pepica. It was a no-brainer once we got there. We had to order a very traditional recipe with a rabbit, of course. But before the payer came out, I had to try some of their oysters. Six raw oysters on the half shell... They were quite large at that... Were a fantastic way to start the meal. And once the paella arrived, we were not disappointed. I make paella at home. I just can't do it the way they do it here. In addition to being a fantastic place to have paella, this restaurant sits along a walkway that borders the beach and Mediterranean Sea. It was a picture perfect place to eat and have great food.

We tried being nice to him from moment one but i suspect he didn't like English-speaking people. We could see he was polite & all smiles to other Spanish customers. But to us, he couldn't have given us the time of day. He was condescending, dismissive & brought the wrong entrée when I specifically asked for a fish paella; he insisted it had ONLY fish....with no calamari. but he brought us the seafood one which has nothing but shrimp and EXTRA calamari. if it was a kitchen mistake, that's fine. But it was his attitude that ruined the entire meal from start to finish! By this time, I was so done with his rude behavior we kept the wrong entrée. My partner, who speaks some Spanish, did his best to order everything in Spanish and I was polite, smiled, and tried my best to engage with him as our hotel highly recommended this restaurant. but there was nothing we could do to make this man even pretend he gave a damn about our table. I will never return to this restaurant and highly recommend that others seek out a restaurant along this stretch of beach in which their servers treat them better than this man. He was short, had slick back black hair, 40-ish and his attitude was as dark as his soul. never again. shame on him!
