Sacred Heart Schools - Oakwood senior center for retired Sacred Heart Nuns

They are now stepping up to CCS Division I and will be taking on top ranked Bellarmine for the coveted championship. I'm amazed at how next door Menlo School and nearby Menlo-Atherton, Gunn and Palo Alto High School also field great water polo teams. If you kid likes the sport then you've found your place! As for the rest of the school - I love the large open campus. The chapel is tucked away in the original building and they have since built 2 separate campuses for the lower, middle and high school kids. If you are looking for a Catholic High School with excellent academics then you should Sacred Heart compares favorably to Mountain View's St Francis, San Mateo's Serra (all boy), Burlingame's Notre Dame and Mercy (both all girl) high schools. Great community.

Spending time at Sacred Heart is more like being at a year-long camp or country club - a special place that cultivates and encourages the whole child. It's a place where families come and all community members are invited to participate in the many programs and activities on campus. The administration is available to parents and students alike and no other school has a head of schools as caring as Rich Dioli.

This is a review for Synapse's TK program. My son has been in Teacher Mickey & Teacher Natasha's…read moreclass for a year this year. My son's TK experience has been truly above and beyond what we wanted for early childhood education. All the great activities that foster joyful learning, all the field trips, events that bring the community together have been so beautifully thought out and planned, we had no idea this kind of education was even possible for little kids. We were grateful each day when we sent my son to school, because we trusted that he would be well taken care of and have a good time. It meant a lot to us as parents. The teachers cared so much about students' happiness, well-being, and materials they were learning. They truly, genuinely cared, and all the parents of TK students could feel it. Throughout the year, we were constantly impressed by the teachers' willingness to go above and beyond. These teachers are not ordinary teachers who rely on easier field trips or simpler projects. They take kids to the most interesting and enriching places on their field trips, places such as ice skating rinks, beaches, ponds where you can catch tadpoles, senior centers, pumpkin patches, cactus garden, etc. Their creativity and willingness to get messy were also truly inspiring. The TK class built an awe-inspiring life-size whale shark together and had so much fun celebrating Holi. The TK class cooked great lunches and sold them to parents as well. The teachers went an extra mile, even though it meant so much more work for themselves, because they have a genuine passion for sprinkling curiosity and exploration in their students. We also deeply appreciated how they created so many opportunities to recognize diverse cultures and bring families together for events like Diwali and Lunar New Year. They were extra careful to include all of the countries' traditions, which gave my son a sense of belonging and harbored a pride in his heritage. We are immensely grateful and feel incredibly honored that my son had such thoughtful, dedicated, and innovative teachers like them. Knowing he was in their care gave us immense peace of mind. And this review is not just about TK teachers at Synapse. Everyone we met at Synapse has been genuinely nice and down to earth. All the teachers, staff, students and parents formed such a warm, wonderful community.

Do you want to find the best school? Do you want your kids to learn about new things? Do you want…read moreyour kids to get a good education? Would like your child to feel special? Then Laurel School is the best place to go!!! Laurel School is the best because it makes kids feel special. For example, we celebrate birthdays and also 1/2 birthdays. Kids bring in parents and get to share their most favorite book. We also share treats. Another reason that Laurel is great is because we have a lot of celebrations. One of the many celebrations is pajama day. Pajama day is a special day where you get to wear pajamas all day because of good choices the kids made in class. A third reason why Laurel School is so AWESOME is because there are lots of wonderful teachers your child can learn from. For example, there are separate librarian, music, art, P.E., and Spanish Immersion teachers. And all of the kindergarten-3rd grade teachers are AMAZING!!! These teachers work very hard to give the students a great education. We know you will love Laurel School if you come here! Adults and students agree that this is an outstanding school. Even the experts agree, we earned the California Distinguished School Award in 2014!!! We hope you are lucky enough to join us one day. This school really focuses on preparing students for college. The offer two-week periods where the student can focus solely on their career/educational interests. The staff really focus on the needs of the students and it really shows. Nothing negative to say at all.... I normally don't rate something right away, and I waited until the end of the fourth year to rate this school. Very positive experience for my child!

It is the second in the Summit Charter Schools, and now 5 years old. My son has been there for just one year, but we could not be more satisfied. The quality of the teachers is outstanding, class sizes are small, the care and dedication of the faculty matches and even exceeds what I have found at the private schools our children attended in the area, for both elementary and middle school and even for high school. There are downsides. There is no football field, there is no performing arts center. There is no Olympic sized swimming pool. Instead there are state-of-the-art facilities for classes, and a network of community facilities where students can access the extracurricular activities and elective subjects that are available. This school is not for everyone. If your student is not college-bound and you as parents are not supportive of him or her being college bound, this is not the school for you. The curriculum is rigorous, and expectations are set high. And they directly address the need not just to get into a college but to succeed there and graduate. First step, go to the open house. Check their website for the dates. Everestepo.org is their parent organization website. Or you can go to everestphs.org. It's a lottery. But you can't win if you don't play.

Back in my days (and that was ages ago), it was $700-$800 for 8 weeks (I think). They offered classes in many different things, from sports to singing (acapella and musical style) to sewing. There was an extra-delicious lunch every Wednesday with chicken patties (for the anti-red meat eaters) to veggie patties (for the young vegetarians). No PB & J as your only source of fruit. There was fruit salad, ambrosia, etc. The food is top-notch (for camp anyway) and probably better than some business convention catering. They also had several overnight stays and field trips. The ratio of counselors to campers was 1:6. That's amazing. It only went up to sixth graders though. Boo. Ofcourse, with that price, fellow campers are not your average people. I had one who knew celebrities in HK and others who have already travelled the world. The school itself is fantastic too. I know several family friends who have attended Casti and they were even boarders (I don't think they have boarding anymore). They take very good care of their girls and the education is top-notch. The people I knew ended up at Stanford and Berkeley. The student-teacher ratio is amazing (according to wiki, it's 8:1.) Someday, I'll move back here and send my daughter(s) here. However, the tuition currently is $28000. But I guess you get what you pay for! On a side note, Casti has its own wiki entry. I don't think my high school has a wiki entry.
