Mendoza Electric saw a help ad on the Next door app and they responded quickly. I only needed someone to pick up some christmas lights that fell off from my roof. Several other people responded and asked for an insane amount of money which was very disappointing for me. In hindsight I have to lower my review. Jimmy left some unfinished connections which he later charged me for. He also tried to blame me for not pointing out some features of my panels, things I wasn't aware of but things an electrician should check for. A new update. I just had to pay another electrician to fix a shorted wire caused by Jimmy's work. Now I need to do another 750.00 worth of work to fix more of his mess. Very disappointed I had to call Jimmy back twice to fix his stuff and now I need to call another electrician to fix other elements of Jimmy's work. Storytime, What was supposed to be a simple job of adding a breaker and an outlet for my RV turned into repeated visits because first, he tried to cut out a hole big enough to fit a 50 amp breaker that couldn't be fully used. After all, there wasn't enough room. He talked me into upgrading the entire breaker box which made sense and a bigger box means I can add things later if I choose. He also tried to "help me" get my solar panels more effective. I was left with a rat's nest of wiring, the solar wiring wasn't actually connected back. No permits were applied for which I didn't even know was needed, ground wires either weren't fully secure or just not connected and I don't mess with electricity because I'm not trained and I don't want to die so I wasn't about to mess with any of it. After consulting with a solar company that's when I found out about the permit issue, the breaker box was not weatherproofed, and the electrical box for the RV outlet was meant for an indoor setting, wrapped electrical tape around I think one of the main power supply wires, on top not reconnecting the solar system. I spent over $900 in total and had him out about 5 times to fix or redo things. I had to pay $2500 for another company to come and make it right. If he didn't know anything about solar systems he could've just owned that and we either could've figured something out or I'd have just moved on. He claims to want to help out veterans but I was only taken advantage of and had to pay even more to have it done right. He does have a license so at least that much was true but outside of that he wasted my money. He loves to boast about this one person he claims he helped bring his solar down to next to nothing.... one person.... and for all I know it's texting between friends so he can claim he improved someone's electrical bill. I'm including before pic, pics of what Jimmy left, and pictures of what actual professionals did. Apparently, you have to be very vigilant of who you hire in El Paso, TX. It may cost more but go with an established company for electrical or really any kind of home improvement jobs around here. I needed a small ceiling fan for my bedroom. I waited for people to install it for weeks. I found Mendosa. I made a appointment for the SAME day. The gentleman installed it quickly, even with some hiccups, re positioned the bedroom and cleaned. A perfect job. 8ve already told people about them.And price they quoted was very reasonable. Mendoza electric was hired to replace an old a/c wall switch. What should have taken a few hours, has turned into a month and a half nightmare. Mr. Mendoza was hired (w/out my knowledge) by a very desperate friend hundreds of miles away in California. He didn't want to leave the elderly couple renting his home without a/c and hired who he thought was an honest legitimate electrician. Unfortunately, Mr. Mendoza took this as an opportunity to make money from someone who wouldn't be around to check on his progress. Mr. Mendoza is passing himself off as an electrician but he is being dishonest. When I finally got involved, Mr. Mendoza had charged 1700 dllrs., and would have been more if I hadn't told my friend not to send him anymore. I find out he never pulled any permits for the "work" he told us was needed. When clearly the city requires them for the type of electrical work he was doing. The reason he didn't get the permits , is because you must have a license to do so. IMr. Mendoza DOES NOT have a license. When I did ask him for one, he referred me to Yelp (I still can't figure that one out). Unfortunately, this gets worse. When asked why it was taking so long, he came up with this gem: "Someone was sabotaging his work after he'd leave for the day"! He tried to blame my friend (California), he attempted to blame me, but incredibly he even suggested the elderly couple living there. The poor lady is battling cancer and her husband suffered a stroke which left one of his arms completely paralyzed. They would show up at 6pm and wanted to stay late into the night or he wouldn't show up at all. He left the job incomplete and now we are left with having to pay a real electrician to clean up his mess. I've included several pictures of his sloppy work and some screen shots of our conversation. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I'm sure this guy will come up with some b.s. as he did on the other negative review below, but I can vouch for how unprofessional and very shady this man is. I am only sorry it took me this long to post this review. We had Mr Mendoza out to install a light fixture and two outlets in our kitchen. Let me preface this with, I am fully aware that my house is older and it's previous owner had done some of his own work. So Mr Mendoza comes out here and begins work. He would come and work at it for a few hours a day and then he would leave and not come back for days leaving the wires hanging out of the walls. He installed two of the outlets in the kitchen finally and one never worked, the other was put in very sloppily and looks awful. In looking for "power" for that outlet he tore up two others and reinstalled one of those shoddily and upside down. He couldn't get the ceiling fixture to work (nevermind that the one he was replacing worked just fine) it was weeks of him coming and going and I finally told him to just please get it done. He showed up late the next day and told my husband he couldn't do it and the job was too difficult for him. He left everything torn apart. We had already paid him and asked for our money back. It took him a couple of weeks to give it back and at that he showed up at my house at 1130 at night to give it after telling my husband he had to stop off at the club to get the money. Very weird.. we had previously hired him to do a very super simple job of replacing a ceiling light in my laundry room and I can say it works but it isn't flush and looks sloppy. I hadn't noticed that until I was looking at the rest of the mess he made. His skills are very limited and he is very unprofessional. This is my home and I'm not rich and I now have to hire someone else to clean up after this guy. I totally understand if a job is to difficult then fine! But don't tell me you are a licensed expert, then tear up my house and just leave it that way. He should have said something if he was unlicensed or inexperienced. I just wanted to update my kitchen a bit. Everything worked just fine before and now I just have a mess.. do not hire this guy! read more

I emailed Jimmy through Yelp and he replied within minutes. He asked me to pick an appointment time and was here on time, such was 8pm on a Sunday night! I told him my initial problem, he gave me a flat rate and said it shouldn't take long. He was here for only half an hour and fixed my problem, on a Sunday night! I know he was less expensive than other companies, especially for a weekend night. You will not regret contacting him for your electrical repairs. So we made the mistake of hiring Mendoza Electric to come do some work at our house. They had good reviews. Business owner gave us a good estimate for the work, so of course we jumped on the deal. Estimate: $450 for 8/3 wire, $150 for a subpanel, $850 for labor. He was hired on Saturday, and he asked for $900 down. Which we gave to him. He was to use brand new wire which he wanted my mom to buy a roll for almost $500. When she said she couldn't, he said no worries. Shows up to work on Tuesday. I walked into a mess of old patchy wiring. I have plenty of pictures of you want. No new wiring, everything is old pieces he removed from another project, splicing together. Sells my mom an additional used rusted subpanel for $75. Which he spray painted to look "new" in front of her. When she questioned it, he said it's in perfectly good shape and it's General Electric so it's good. That afternoon he asked my mom for another $500 because of the materials he got he was short and needed to pay his workers. My mom gave him the money. (She thought he was trust worthy) Total paid this far: $1400 Wednesday morning he messages my mom telling her he needs more material (while he's at another project & he sends a worker to pick up their equipment) we are to order 19 items to be exact and sends his Home Depot shopping list. (Picture available)for a total of $438. We had to get some of the items at Lowes because HD didn't have everything. Once we had everything he confirmed he'll be here Thursday morning. Thursday morning: No Show. Messages me at 2pm saying he didn't have anyone to help him but he'll be here been 5-5:30pm and that for the work they're going to end up doing, it's only fair we add another $150 for LABOR to the $50 we still owe. Time comes. No show again. I messaged him telling him it's very unprofessional of him and questioning the spliced wires he's still planning on using. Telling him I'm sure we haven't received $850 worth of labor yet. And explaining he quoted brand new wiring. He replies with a picture of a $1300 500ft roll of wire explaining measurements and cost for our project. I sent him pictures of the spliced wires explaining that is no $1300 wire and I'm sure hazardous. He responds at almost 11pm telling me I wouldn't know as I'm not an electrician and don't do electrical work. But he'll be here Friday morning to finish. I tell him, no don't come we won't be home. Says he doesn't need us home to work, he just wants to finish. So he'll be here. I replied "I said not tomorrow, so, NOT TOMORROW,. As a matter of fact not at all. We don't feel secure with your work ethic or work." I feel he completely took advantage of my mom and new exactly how to rip her off. And he did. A city inspector came to check the work an he confirmed it wasn't up to code and dangerous. I did tell him the right thing to do would be to reimburse some if not all the money, but he just called me a gang-stalker. Friday evening comes and I receive another message from him asking me what I want to do, to which I responded that we would like a refund. His response, "Not gonna happen" and that he'd like a chance to finish so we could see the end product. I told him no we don't feel safe with his work and work ethic. Thankfully the city inspector has connected us to another electrician who will fix this mess. We've taken the $1400 we paid as a loss for now. read more

i can attest of this person not being licensed,he did some shawdy work in my house too,i had to call another electrician to fix this guys mess.The electric panel was not up to code,he didn't even show me a licensed paper from the El Paso Electric company that he was authorized to do this work,he will take your money and leave you with unsafe work.I had sparks come out of the panel today,the house could have burned down,please do not use this guys,you life depends on it. read more

He left unfinished work that i now have to hire a licensed electrician to complete. When I confronted him about his incomplete work, he lied to my face and accused us of tampering with his work.
